  1. What's wrong with earpieces? How many fielders can even see the signs anyway?
  2. Or just get rid of using hand signs. This isn't 1880 any more...
  3. It is, but even Kinsler thinks what the Sox did was minimal at best and doesn't think the league will find much. It is possible as second offenders the Sox will get the hammer, but also possible that players like Kinsler (now retired and with nothing to lose) will make the case that what the Red Sox did was business as usual. All teams do have video feeds and nearly every player uses them for legal reasons, but if he is right and players catch the signs as have a "if I can figure it out, great. If not, no biggie" attitude about it, that might be illegal, but it is not premeditated like an actual Codebreaker algorithm employed by the Astros. And when does the Yankee investigation start? In no way do I believe that every single scrub the Yankees grab has a miraculous breakout year based on legitimate talent alone. "Oh, it's just good scouting. The Yankees liked his 'exit velocity' " or whatever. Yeah, because other teams don't look at exit velocity...
  4. Especially ones as poorly reported and mishandled by the league as Deflate Gate was. If you read the report, the most obvious conclusion should have been "NFL officials have no idea how to use pressure gauges."
  5. There is no way to get people to stop talking about Betts. We're even doing indirectly now by talking about not talking about Betts. And no, best player or second best player or whatever, $420mill is not a "reasonable" contract extension by any definition of the word. He will very likely get it, but asking for the most valuable contract in pro sports history is really not being "reasonable." Bryce Harper has the current largest contract in MLB free agent history. Is it reasonable?
  6. No. Everyone should just spill what they know. How many more times do you want this scandal to resurface?
  7. Welcome to the club...
  8. Probably depends on how the teams work everything out...
  9. Kinsler thought was the Sox did was no big deal and he mostly talked about the video room being used for players to fix their personal issues, and if they decoded the signs in the process, so be it. But he said it was not an elaborate program like "Codebreaker" that the Astros used, and really made it sound like it was more of an incidental occurence that every team does...
  10. So Slasher was wrong. And most of the pitching rubbers Quantrill pitched from in his youth were actually 18.44 meters from home plate...
  11. Exactly. And how many of them will call Henry out for being cheap and not extending Betts? Betts asks for $420mill. And somehow Henry will be the unreasonable one...
  12. Well, they're covering Myers' salary by sending cash over to Henry. If the Red Sox acquire Myers and then trade him at some point in the future, they can still keep that cash and deal Myers with no money. Although it's not likely anyone would want Myers at that price...
  13. The funny thing is, the Sox still lose out on that deal if the cash is anything less than $39 million, per the BTV Simulator. That's how negative Myers' contract is, even after it's been upgraded. They still need to throw in Baez and lower the cash to $30mill to even this out
  14. I'm sure it will come up regardless of league. There will be those bemoaning Betts even if he is in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...
  15. So far, no names, and possibly no one significant...
  16. So here’s my question. If the Sox add Myers and Quantrill, what names are no longer red? You list 26, but not Arauz, whom hopefully Bloom either makes a deal for, or sends back. I would guess Weber, but that’s been my guess for a while. But Weber and Lin get DFA?
  17. Yeah! Wil Myers! Said no one ever. Hopefully Quantrill has his dad’s rubber arm...
  18. ... until his wife helps him pack for that first road trip...
  19. .... unless Mookie has a good year.
  20. The problem is, with Bloom’s methodical patience, this deal might not be finalized until July. Of 2021...
  21. Get me one too!!
  22. Doubtful Holt would take a MiLB deal. Peraza is Holt's replacement...
  23. Can we use :0====>* for vomiting?
  24. Is he really worse than Selig? It's one thing to be Commissioner at a time when a complex scandal hits, but at least he did not do anything as phenomenally stupid as make the All Star game have post-season implications. In fact, to Manfred's credit, he fixed that...
  25. Philadephia is a small market? Forbes says they have the third richest TV deal in MLB, behind only the Yankees and Dodgers...
