  1. While that may be, do you really think Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays should be replaced on the Greatest CF of All Time List by Jackie Bradley, Darren Lewis and Darryl Hamilton?
  2. He also canceled Arrested Development, punched Baby Yoda and gave gout to my aunt. But of all the pitchers willing to sign MiLB deals, he is among the better ones..,
  3. That doesn’t even make sense. “Our farm is barren and we haven’t been able to develop pitching!! So we should give those guys a chance first!!” I do want to see your Yelp reviews on restaurants you review. “The food was horrible!! Completely inedible!! And they don’t give you enough of it either!!” The point is to NOT let the pennant hopes rely too heavily on Shawaryn or Velasquez or Hart...
  4. But how much of that list was influenced by offensive contributions? And was this an all time list? Or just active players?
  5. If someone insists he’s the “greatest [they’ve] ever seen”, I’m ok with that.
  6. But that’s all they are is cheaper. A healthy Buchholz can and will out pitch all of them. I would not guarantee Buchholz a MLB deal. But a MiLB deal would be nice. He’ll do better in 15-20 Eovaldi starts than anyone in Pawtucket. All he needs to do is hold a chair for Bryan Mata...
  7. One thing to note about defensive metrics is they still depend on opportunity. Bradley had a ton of innings in CF last year but his chances per inning was actually one of the worst in MLB...
  8. But he was also probably assured a better ROI
  9. If they sign Buchholz, it would very likely be just a minor league deal...
  10. You’re not alone among Sox fans there. But he’s risky enough that no one will give him a major league deal and talented enough to be an impactful depth signing. Don’t forget that unless something major happens, this team employs Nate Eovaldi as a starter. Depth is essential...
  11. I would avoid Jeffress. But some other relievers that I think have varying levels of intrigue include Vizcaino, McHugh, Cingrani, Holland, Swarzak, and Minaya. Also it’s probably time someone converted Drew Smyly to relief duty. On the starter front, don’t forget about Clay Buchholz..
  12. The story was there was interest...
  13. And now someone will take a flier on him...
  14. The only real downside here is the lack of improvement. While Bloom might not trade away anyone that will make the team worse (Betts, Bradley, Price), he also doesn’t appear to be able to add anyone who will make the team better, as evidenced by the inability to sign Travis Shaw to a $4mill contract...
  15. Sergio Romo went directly from closer to opener. Last year, Diego Castillo had 6 starts and 8 saves...
  16. Price-Myers trade rumors have been floating all off season. If there was even the remotest possibility, Myers would already be in Boston. My guess is Bloom is holding out for more or just flat out hates Myers...
  17. Stray O Matic is for posers!! All Star Baseball is where it’s at. If you remember that game with the spinners. BBWAA writers are obviously more informed than us, but sometimes I think they write things hoping for clickbait...
  18. Unless dictated by injury, teams should NEVER do bullpen games. Dumbest pitching strategy ever...
  19. The idea is to use a closer-quality pitcher in a role where he is facing the best hitters in the opposing lineup. WIt until the 9th, and plenty of times your closer s facing the 6-7-8 hitters or 7-8-9 hitters. Is this really the best usage of your best reliever? The opener concept is about taking the bats out of the hands of the best hitters at least one time guaranteed...
  20. They lower the tax money by $17mill, as Price’s AAV is $31mill and Myers’ is just under $14mill. The do save about $10 mill per year in actual cash. I think the main reason it didn’t happen is Myers sucks...
  21. Right. Back to the productive posts. Of course, “not resetting” might be just talk as well..
  22. They have good defensive outfielders, including a Tommy Pham, Franchy Cordero and Trent Grisham. So much defense, they have Manny Margot on the bench
  23. I figure Hernandez opening and Perez pitching innings three through six or seven...
  24. None of this changes the FACT that he hasn’t pitched in AA ball yet...
  25. So your point is they don’t use that one site but they all use similar concepts? What was your point again? About trading with each other? And none of us have chess to their databases. But just because teams don’t use it doesn’t mean it doesn’t give fair approximations. If you’re expecting perfection, trades happen all the time that have no rumor mention beforehand on MLBTR. Or on MLB network. And how many Ian Brown Fair Trade Speculative Columns actually contain a trade that happened? Really though the simulator does a decent job approximating analog and variable values far better than any of us could, and probably better than most BBWAA members...
