I’d be surprised if Peraza was tendered a contract at all. And part of me thinks Bloom would lean more towards Muniz and Arroyo - basically, his guys - over Lin, who might also be non-tendered, or Chatham, who has options left...
-
He did much better with actual resources at his disposal. No GM from Tampa can give Mookie that contract...
-
Well, I have been very vocal in wishing he kept Graterol. Whatever he didn’t like, Friedman certainly did...

You’re not even making sense any more, cpl....
-
Dalbec is more capable defensively...

So... Dombrowski didn’t leave the team with a bunch of heavy contracts and no farm system? Or do you only chime in when someone denigrates Dombrowski? Why not say something when dgalehouse makes critical commentary about Bloom?

So the Sox should put everything on Downs? I don't like the idea of the Red Sox depending on a guy named "Jeter". Seriously, so what happen if you "bridge to Downs" and he just plain sucks? I know he is a ranked prospect (BA #86), but you know who else was a ranked prospect at one time? Jose Peraza. (BA #54 in 2015 and BA#66 in 2016). They don't all work out as planned. Get a real 2B and worry about Downs when he makes it an issue. Let's not pretend he is Joe Morgan-in-the-wings...

Oh they were terrible at surrounding Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Ryne Sandberg with talent . (Ok, Sandberg did play on some good teams.). But that’s the entire point. And that was back when retaining your star didn’t cost $360 million...

Ryosuke Kikuchi. Japanese, not Korean. Absolutely love the idea. Sadly after he failed to get an MLB offer (that he liked?), he signed a 4 year deal with the Hiroshima Carp last December...
-
The greatest football name ever is Barkevious Mingo....

We already have a few Yolmer Sanchez types kicking around. While I like the idea of signing Sanchez or, better yet, Kolten Wong, it’s more likely someone from the Yairo Munoz/Christian Arroyo/Jon Arauz/CJ Chatham/TW Lin/Michael Chavis subset of infielders plays 2b, and maybe 1 or 2 more fill bench roles. I suppose a possible dark horse is Chad De La Guerra...

I do find myself referring to him as Brian Dalbec a lot.
-
Dombrowski should be paying. He built this team, after all...
-
No. 1 on my list is my repeated calling the Sox new 1b Brian Dalbec, since I keep confusing him with The Belleville Basher, Brian Daubach...
-
I do think the bulk of the post was meant to be facetious. But yeah, spelling...
-
There’s no “K” in Dalbec. Unless he’s batting...
-
I expect Henry to still spend. I just think he wants a GM who doesn’t go all in all at once with regards to payroll and emptying the farm system thus leaving the team as the huge steaming pile of payroll we are watching today...

Downs will be dealt for pitching. Hudson Potts is the future...
-
... which is also the name of my third favorite breakfast cereal...
-
What other option did the team have but to white flag the present and invest in the future? Take one last shot at a pennant with Betts in RF and Ryan Weber as the #3 starter? That feels counterintuitive...
-
Oh it’s not a softball lob. The idea of watching great players lose was the business model of the Cubs for decades..
-
B-R is better for a lot of things, but when it comes to comparing advanced stats, it fails in comparison to Fangraphs. Badly...
-
Why not? His history in Tampa is not really applicable...
-
If this was Exploding Kittens, know what card I’d be playing? The “Nope”...
-
I hope the Sox bring him back just so they can cut him again...
