    See, some of us thought that to be the major moment of Steinbrenner Hypocrisy when coupled with The George's rant after the ending of the 2005 season on how the Rangers, who were playing for nothing, were supposed to their final game seriously against the Angels. But Showalter did not and played his B Team in a game with postseason implications, and it would up costing the Yankees a home series against the Angels (who then later bounced them). The irony, of course, was that the Yankees actually controlled their own fate that year, but also played their B Team against the Red Sox in the final game and got smoked. But that didn't stop Steinbrenner from ranting against Showalter and the Rangers. And sent a clear message that George expected other teams to take games with post-season implications seriously, but the Yankees did not have to. So I harbor no ill will against Andino for doing his job...

    I wpould imagine the reason for resetting this year is so they can. While I hope they bring in Trevor Bauer, Bloom has never signed any free agent to any sort of deal that would be required to land Bauer. However, whether or not he believes in these type of deals is unknown, as he has never had the resources before to make such a deal...

    I am not. I am saying that they do need to make some changes to compete. Think going into 2021 with Ryan Weber as the #3 or #4 starter will suddenly yield massive improvements? I also said that it would not be unlike Bloom to deal Perez even if the Sox were in contention. Are you reading these posts? I will say that one of the biggest factors for 2021 is the recovery of Eduardo Rodriguez...

    That's a possibility, too. Although I have questions about what he is going forward. If he is Russell Branyan 2.0, is he a worthwhile full time 1b? He' already 26. His prospect window is closing rapidly. If he has a future here, maybe he needs to be called up soon...

    Jonathan Schoop is a good free agent option, and seems only capable of getting one year deals. He has good Fenway power, is probably about average defensively at 2B, and meets the primary free agent criteria Bloom seems to have (as he's under 30). He is also apparently pretty tight with Xander Bogaerts. Non-tender Peraza and sign Schoop. Problem solved for one year...

    Well, unless the Sox make some drastic moves, what would you think? I will say definitively that said chance does not rest on Martin Perez. And Bloom has dealt as a seller while trying to contend before, such as when he acquired Trevor Richard and Nick Anderson last year while dealing away Ryne Stanek (plus)...

    Dalbec is much better trade bait, IMO. And as he is blocked at 3B and limited to a platoon at 1B, why not deal him for a player who can fill a full time role? Probably cannot get a SP for him, but what about a CF? Or a full time 2B who is not named Jose Peraza? Baseballtradevalues.com places Dalbec (19.7) roughly equal to Brewers' SP Adrian Houser (19.4), 2B Isan Diaz (17.2), CF Harrison Bader (20.7) or Byron Buxton (18.6). Now that doesn't mean all these teams want Dalbec. But he has some value...

    The Sox have finished in last place 3 times prior when Henry owned the team. In two of those 3 years, they won the AL East in the following season. I seriously doubt the Sox are trying to reset the tax limits so they can go on a prolonged rebuild...

    While it has happened (Jake Peavy was traded to the White Sox while on the IL), it's typically done by seller teams looking for buy low options. The Red Sox would be in a better position to trade for a player like Beni than to trade one away...

    He has a clear role that works for him. If the Sox keep him in that role, he's fine. But his .553 OPS vs RHP is concerning and should keep him out of any full time 2B talk forever...

    He's one of those "If you give me enough" guys, the he gets dealt. Now in this case, "enough" doesn't mean Wander Franco. I suspect the price is reasonable. He's on a one year/option contract. Cledarly not a building block, and never meant to be here long term. If the Sox do bring him back, then we just have this same conversation again next year, only then 1) he might not be doing as well and 2) he won't bring back as much anyway, since he won't have the cheap option year attached...

    Why trade him? Most teams are not looking for slumping outfielders on the IL. And it's not like the Sox have a littany of minor league outfield talent ready to step in. With Bradley likely on the move after the season, are the Sox going to position themselves to get two outfielders, a second baseman, maybe a DH, and as many pitching arms as Bloom (thinks he) can salvage?

    My wife is legally blind. She uses a product called ZoomText, which magnifies the monitor image (so you only see a small portion of the monitor image at a time). For me, it's very frustrating when it's on to use the computer, but she is very adept at using it, although it might have taken some time. You can also change other viewing functions beyond magnification, including color, cursor size, and focus. Zoomtext also has functions where you can have the website read to you, and gives you a few options for the voice. https://www.zoomtext.com/

    Chavis has an OPS of .852 vs LHP. Since he's basically just Moreland's platoon partner at 1b, how is that a bad thing? He's a role player who cannot do much outside his role, but can handle his role well enough. Leave him as a RHH 1B and focus on other positions...

    While this team needs Trevor Bauer, I would be a little surprised if they actually signed him. However, the bargain bin starters IMO this year are probably Kevin Gausman, Alex Wood and Taijuan Walker. Wood and Walker come with obvious risks...

    I don't have much history for the type of free agent Bloom covets, but he did sign a couple this year when he had virtually no budget. The common thread between Peraza and Perez were both were under 30. I think he would look more for short term players 30 or under who can fill holes. Michael Taylor might be one such player who can fill CF and will only be 30 and might be amenable to a 1 year deal (with an option?). Maybe bullpen arms like Keone Kela or Ken Giles, too. But it really depends what kind of deal they would want... I doubt he goes all in for Springer or Ozuna.
