True in a sense that the other 3 are all controlled for next season. If 2021 goes South by the deadline, all can be dealt then. However, if the Sox want better prospects back, those are the worst two trading chips. There are pros and cons everywhere...

So with about 7 hours to go, is Bloom done or can he negotiate any more deals? Top candidates to be dealt are Barnes, Perez, Vazquez, Bradley and Pillar. Any thoughts on who if anyone goes? I think he can move one outfielder (either one) and maybe Barnes. But that's probably about it. Unless someone offers him a deal too good to pass up, I doubt he moves Vazquez, his most valuable chip among these five names...

They have used a few pitching arms like Peterson this year. Positionwise their top guy is Ronny Mauricio, a 19yo SS in A ball. Nothing in their farm really dazzles me. Tampa does have a few intriguing arms like Shane Baz (BA #71), Brent Honeywell (BA #80, but who gets hurt a lot), Joe Ryan (BA #98), and Trevor Richards (whom Bloom acquired last year at the deadline along with Nick Anderson). Overall I'd rather deal with Tampa here. but ultimately with only about 7 hours to go, I have my doubts Vazquez goes anywhere...

I think Yankee fans overestimate the value of Tauchman. Teams dealing aces don’t do so for packages around 29yo platoon players. Also, the Guardians had Frazier once already. They didn’t want him. Baseballtradevalues.com places the value of Clevinger at $38.4 million in surplus value. The values of Tauchman and Frazier are $6.8mill and $6.1mill respectively. Basically our package was bad but so was yours. The difference is the Sox could (if so inclined) offer Alex Verdugo ($46.1mill) for Clevinger

You’re always safe betting against any trade rumor. But if it doesn’t happen, it will probably be more related to Bloom’s demands exceeding Tampa’s generosity. I don’t think Tampa is looking at Vazquez and thinking “he’s not what we want. Let’s get him!” If Bloom is willing to take back Kiermaier (whose expensive contract he wrote), Tampa might be very willing to talk...
