Well, again, when you have “anonymous sources”, you can cite any number of them without question. At least Fiers went public with his own name. For example, I have FOUR “anonymous sources” that say the Yankees used a similar scheme. Couple that with their previous punishment and that they employed a previous cheater, and throw the data around, the Cora implication and London games, things look just as bad for the Yankees. Maybe worse. And the whole “bench coach” thing is grasping at straws. Did Beltran ever attend a team meeting? That’s all he needed to explain the scheme.

Who are they? As long as these sources remain anonymous, it seems like any number of them can say any number of things. I don’t like anonymous sources as the sole form of “proof”. Of course, they presumably have made themselves known to Manfred. If it’s still a number greater than one...

I think Bloom keeps it simple (“Gee, thanks for the astute observation, Captain Obvious”) and just goes for some depth pieces and a cheap LHH 1b for a part time platoon with Chavis. Thinking Greg Bird. (Not my choice here,) At some point I’d stock up on some SP depth and get a fourth OF. But we’ll see...

Eovaldi has one major drawback in that he's never healthy. But you might be the happy one if you want both...

Oh all that and probably lots more. But he is also a mega talented player when healthy with a monstrous Fenway swing and a throwing cannon that makes Jackie Bradley look like Johnny Damon trying to throw with his weak arm.

Eh. It's not like we have been drafting very well anyway. Since 2012, the only Sox first and second rounders to even make the majors are Benintendi, Chavis, Sam Travis, and Michael Kopech, The first and second round in 2012 did produce 4 future major leaguers, but they were Deven Marrero, Brian Johnson, Pat Light, and Jamie Callahan. Not going to miss them. And that's top rounds of the last 9 drafts in a nutshell...

Exactly what is the analysis you think is paralyzing them? The high asking price for Price/Betts simply means they prefer to keep both, but can be bought if an offer arises. I think the paralysis is financial. The problem with trading Price (the preferred departure) is in the long run, that probably nets nothing in the way of a salary cut. The problem with trading Betts is it makes competing more difficult. Henry has made mutliple contradicting statements that basically all point to cutting costs. The paralysis is a financial one...

I'm fine with it, too. Although trading for Odor might be going to far. Hellickson can just sign another MiLB deal and come up when Eovaldi gets hurt...

He's not a great defender. He might be able to switch to 1B where his glove is less of a liability.
