Dalbec absolutely lacks the mobility for 2b. But the defensive requirements of the position are in flux. Rather than being capable of making up range for slower, behemoth-like first baseman, 2bmen now spend between 1/3 and 1/4 of their time in short right field, where quickness means less but a strong arm means more. Also, while I expect Dalbec would be less agile, if he can take advantage of his 6’4” frame, he can make up for some lack of range. And if he flops, Pawtucket loses a couple more games. Low risk.
But yeah, I suspect he plays mostly, if not solely 1b this year...
