  1. No myocarditis. Count your blessings...
  2. I know that is the job of the press and a past time of the fanbase, but at some point Boone still knows more about the situation than anyone else. Maybe Green didn't feel like he had anything or maybe had a headache or his arm was a little sore? One has to think Boone knows who Green is, the type of season he is having, and how long since he has pitched. So he might actually have a very good reason for not using him...
  3. Good. I don't like him a a starter but I do like him as a high leverage reliever...
  4. That puts a big ? after Bogaerts as well, as he can opt out after 2022. If the SS market looks good the year before with the Lindor/Seager/Correa/Story crowd on the market, he might take the chance and opt out...
  5. OK let's include Wong and Chatham. If you think Casas, Ward and Downs join the crowd, that leaves us with 9 potential MLB players. No way I include Feltman. Not yet and not until he learns where the strike zone is. Of course, not all will actually make it and a significant portion of them will probably suck as well. So then, out of these 9, how many actual contributors do you have? It's almost impossible to tell if an A ball player is an MLB contributor. It does happen, but more often than not, it simply cannot be foreseen. For every Mike Trout or Bryce Harper, there is an innumerable quantity of Lars Anderson/Jesus Montero types. And the fun subset is, out of the contributors, how many contribute in Boston vs for other teams?
  6. For minor leaguers in A ball, 2022 is not "near horizon". Especially for those not playing in 2020. you listed 29 minor leaguers, all but 7 of whom have never played above A ball, and one of those 7 (Downs) has 12 games at that level. How many actual major leaguers do you think are in that crowd? The bulk of them will never never get out of AA ball, assuming they get there at all. Now that does not mean they are useless. The Sox will deal a few hopefully, for actual MLB talent. But by 2022, out of that list of 29, I would suspect the only ones to actually play in MLB would be Dalbec, Mata, Duran, Houck, and maybe Wilson.
  7. Of course we need prospects. But the attrition level in A ball is extremely high. Really right now all we have on the near horizon is Mata, Duran and Dalbec. And Dalbec is blocked and getting a bit old to still be considered a prospect...
  8. Always Luis Guzman...
  9. Oh definitely. At this point, all I am rooting for is September 1. I am not sure how I am going to handle baseball after that. Well, beyond rooting against the Yankees...
  10. His apology is catching him even more flak, but I can at least credit him that he is not reading a written statement in a press conference or from a teleprompter, and apparently he tried to do one off the cuff while live on air (even calling a Nick Castellanos home run mid-apology). Still, he is supposed to be a grown man...
  11. That's what moonslav was talking about in the post you responded to...
  12. Probably also worth pointing out with Eovaldi, his FIP is tied (with Martin Perez) for the best among Sox starters.
  13. Hey that 5.93 ERA is second best among Sox starters!!!
  14. Exactly my piint about pegging young minor leaguers as core players. Rodriguez was even further back than the turn of the century, and his lackluster MLB career ran from 1995 to 2001. We could name former overhyped prospects turned busts for days. Remember Tony Blanco? Twice ranked by Baseball America, and Pedro Martinez himself compared Blanco to Vladimir Guerrero. Well, it turned out Blanco was not even comparable to Wladimir Balentein. Looking at the B-R page for his comparable hitters, and they don't even list any, as Blanco only managed 65 plate appearances (and a .490OPS!!) for his career. That's only 65 more than I had...
  15. Blaze Jordan is 17 years old. It might be a bit early to consider him part of the team's core going forward...
  16. Downs and Casas have 12 games above A-ball between them. Both are ranked prospects, which is good, but no guarantee of success. Garin Cecchini, Blake Swihart, Casey Kelly and Trey Ball were all ranked prospects at one time, too. And many others who had equally undistinguished careers. I say at least at a minimum let them get a full season of AA ball under their belts before they are considered essential core of the team going forward. Really they should make MLB before they are considered the core you're building around...
  17. Unfortunately said waves are likely to be off the coast of some Middle Eastern country. Song cannot even pitch in A-ball until 2022...
  18. And it also won't dazzle whoever they get trade to...
  19. Can he pitch?
  20. Now THAT is a name with pornographic potential...
  21. Yeah if only the Sox had a better utility infielder, this team would be in it. Maybe at the trade deadline....
  22. Plus most of the other options are worse...
  23. His injury was an unfortunate way to go down, but that’s part of being a pro athlete. And he will and should still get paid...
  24. How do you think he got hurt?
  25. How did you know his nickname his parents gave him?
