  1. Again, he does have a track record. And he was actually incredibly good as recently as 2018. Chris Flexen got 2 years and he has never been any good...
  2. In free agency, like comedy, timing is everything. Ask Gary Matthews Jr if you doubt me...
  3. Ah but did Greenwwell ever get a movie role based on his hillbilly background? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1684927/characters/nm1309453?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t2
  4. I'd like it better but it has no good sorting and comparing features for looking at multiple players at once...
  5. Well, do not forget what the "E" in ETA stands for...
  6. It was roughly the same size, but 5 levels were named A, A1, B, C, and D prior to 1963 when they adopted their existing nomenclature...
  7. Happiest person with this contract - Brad Hand Unhappiest - everyone who passed on him for 1 year at $10 mill....
  8. Well the guy does have two Cy Young's under his belt. If he has any velocity left, and he can go a full session without having surgery, his track record does the rest of the talking...
  9. What's the rush on Rosario? We have Duran ahead of him, and the Sox have Wilson and Puello if they need a 4th or 5th outfielder. Rosario is 21, no need to pigeon hole him just yet...
  10. Probably We would have two Wong's, and they won't make a White....
  11. Agree. Pass on DJ for $100+ mill. LeMahieu has been worth 9.9 fWAR over the past 3 seasons. Kolten Wong has been worth 7.9 fWAR in that same time frame. I would be extremely surprised if Wong's contract wound up being anywhere 79% of DJLM's. In that same time frame, Cesar Hernandez has been worth 5.8 fWAR. Again, doubtful he find anything anywhere near 58% of what DJLM wants. And neither Hernandez nor Wong will cost a draft pick. If LeMahieu was the one missing piece to building a championship, that is one thing. But as he cannot pitch, he is not the top priority.
  12. I do love playing Hold'Em at a casino, but my limit is about the same as yours - around $300. And that puts you at such a disadvantage, because you cannot use a $300 all-in bet to bluff someone if they have $8,000 in chips in front of them. Best thing you can do with small cash is play super conservatively and fold a lot, which you can fortunately do for free most of the time...
  13. It is true the players who sign early always do better. Are we seeing an adjustment as to what qualifies as "early"? We've still only seen three players get deals longer than 2 years (McCann, Kim, and Hendricks)...
  14. Not to mentiion, it's very possible (re:likely) LeMahieu and his agent are just using the Red Sox to rekindle some interest from the Yankees. DJ reportedly wants to return to NY, so other team would he/his agent need to re-enter the bidding to catch the attentio of the Yankee brass?
  15. The “C”? For “Crippled”?!?
  16. I would think that specific trade would have happened and the big holdup is Bloom is avoiding Blackmon and his .747/.987 home road splits, well, forever, because $41.5 million is a lot of money for a guy who would hit like Jackie Bradley but play CF like Jackie Gleason...
  17. And more physical. If a team goes over the third limit for a second season, Manfred gets to shave off the GM's eyebrows...
  18. If I'm running Tampa, I would rather have Kiermaier and Fairbanks - a starting CF and a closer - over two utility infielders..
  19. Right. Should have dealt him straight up for Snell. Boy did Bloom really sleep through that one...
  20. Hanley's first month with the Sox was epic. He was an absolute monster before he injured his shoulder...
  21. If the Sox are in "rebuilding" mode, then they have to get players who will equate to an improvement at some point. Even if they signed Trevor Bauer, which they won't. He will still be here in 2022. If the Sox are not going to acquire MLB talent to improve this team, they should deal Bogaerts now...
  22. Exactly. A lot of those acquisitions would move Verdugo to CF, but I am not so certain the Sox are necessarily opposed to that option. I do not see the Sox acquiring Aaron Hicks for obvious reasons...
  23. It's not like everyone they acquired that offseason was a bust. Porcello was a very good acquisition...
  24. And the Home Run Egg Roll promotion...
  25. But if the goal is to be competitive in, say, 2021, steps have to be taken now. You have to get players when they are availble. Why wait until 2021 to make any moves? Not like we have a slew of game changers on the farm system ready to bowl over MLB...
