  1. But we already have three if you count Elon Musk…
  2. The main problem is that there is no way to know and no reason to believe the 2023 Red Sox or the 2024 Red Sox will be better than the 2021 Red Sox. In fact, chances are extremely good that they will be worse than the current .608 winning percentage team we currently have, and even if everything goes right, still might not be a first place team. That MLB legacy squad in Toronto might not be peaking yet…
  3. It can’t be EST. If everything was on Eastern Time, Saturday Night Live would be called Really Early Sunday Morning Live…
  4. No. Some dork scooped me. But you could go back up this thread until 11:39am (CST) today and see…
  5. I broke that story a full hour before your post.
  6. Rich Hill to the Mets
  7. The statues are not gargoyles, but apparently they are sometimes called Titans. Cleveland Titans would have been a better name IMO, but I have a feeling it made the list at some point and was rejected for some reason…
  8. Absolutely a possibility….
  9. I’ll throw this one out there. Dodgers get RHRP Ian Kennedy Rangers get 2b/3b Hudson Pott Red Sox get LHH 1b Matt Beaty Yes it works on BTV…
  10. But not Trevor Williams’ 5.68? I think there is more to why Porcello wasn’t signed than just his ERA…
  11. I think that’s an advantage. Who cares about ERA when you only pitch 50 IP?
  12. Since 2018, Matt Beaty has a better OPS and wOBA vs RHP than Rizzo. Also probably costs a lot less in a trade…
  13. I like Houck more as a high leverage reliever. If Whitlock moves to the rotation, I like Houck for his current role…
  14. More MLB teams need to adopt minor league naming strategies. We need more Trash Pandas!
  15. Apparently that’s their new moniker. It’s harmless, I will say the say that. I would have preferred something more Baseball oriented, but not as mundane as the Cleveland Baseball Team. But most of those names are probably boring. Like the Cleveland Bats? Yawn. Cleveland Nine? Eh. Cleveland Sluggers? Not making my nipples perk up. My personal choice based on region and marketing ease would have been the Cleveland Rocks. Sure I’d get sick of the song eventually, but it could be fun for a while. For a while there was a minor League hockey team called the Lake Erie Monsters (since renamed the Cleveland Monsters.) Now THAT is a name that needs to come back. Lake Erie Monsters!! Not Cleveland Monsters. Get the lake name in there like it always should have been…
  16. The needs are clearly 1b, RP and maybe a SP. Some blogs say leadoff hitter, but I’d be surprised. The bigger question to me is - who do the Sox have to give up? Who do you suppose is available?
  17. As a defensive RF, JD did some stuff that amazed me. Like how he never broke stride when cleanly fielding ground balls in the outfield. Veteran starting outfielder routinely work on fielding the ball while running and timing everything so the proper foot is forward when they pick up the grounder. JD just did it…
  18. Agreed. Perez isn’t a long term solution (and his contracts indicate no one thinks he is). But if he’s your weak link in the rotation, things are not as bad as some might fear. Depth over quality is a bigger factor for this team, even with Sale coming back at some point…
  19. But the Sox could go get some Terrance Gore type for pinch running and not stifle Duran with intermittent playing time…
  20. Not counting 2020, he has 3 seasons below 2.0 fWAR out of 11 seasons, and in one of those seasons he was 2 years removed from high school. He’s had a good career. Just because he isn’t Chris Sale or Justin Verlander doesn’t change that…
  21. How much of that was covering for injuries and other struggling players? He took some PA from Renfroe early on, for example, but that was back when Renfroe was not exactly a guy we wanted to see hit every day. He is doing what a bench player is supposed to do. He’s far from a problem…
  22. I don’t think Marwin Gonzalez is much danger
  23. And just a roster filler signed to a minor league deal
  24. That’s what plebes do…
