  1. That’s why I keep throwing out Matt Beaty…
  2. HR/FB does rely on FB%. If a pitcher simply isn’t giving up fly balls, the percentage that go yard takes on less meaning. Also, ballpark is a factor…
  3. And the Sox should take 2021 seriously and not fret any tax limits. But they have to do so with the mindset that anything Sale gives is a bonus not to be counted on…
  4. Well, once you dealt Dalbec, you ruined my plausible (to me, anywa) Matt Beaty trade scenario. It’s just not the same with Chavis over Dalbec. So… why not CJ Cron, aka The Human Lottery Ticket?
  5. Considering you referenced a post about going over the tax limit this year as a counterpoint to my limiting my expectations from Sale, no. I find it difficult to believe that was not your intent…
  6. As mentioned, Sale can’t necessarily be counted on and maybe shouldn’t be. ERod is also now in doubt as well. And while both Eovaldi and Richards have been healthy to date, history tells us this, too, cannot be counted on. We may not be as ready to start shedding pitchers as you think…
  7. Andriese will get his chances in mop up roles in games the Sox are out of. If he can rediscover his groove, maybe meaningful innings follow. He's not this bad over his career, but he has seen something go terribly wrong since April.
  8. The constantly updated one? Most of those TJ surgery timelines don't end mid-season, and if they do, often teams just let the player sit out as they're out of the pennant race anyway. Simple question - are you suggesting the Sox RELY on Sale coming back this year? Or is this one of those things when you try to find hypocrisy in two statements that really don't conflict at all?
  9. Catching offene is clearly a weak spot, although calling for Plawecki over a difference of 30 OPS points might be a bit extreme. One thing about Renfroe, despite his minor slump recently, his OPS on April 30 was .485. Since then it's .834. Upgrade 1B. Bat the catcher 9th....
  10. True, but you doesn't mean you rely heavily on players coming off of surgery. One of those uncertainties is Sale's health, even in August 2021...
  11. They might want to remove the red coloring from the face. It defeats the entire purpose of the change...
  12. Well, wait until the Washington Football Team finds a way to crawl under the new bar. Will they go with my suggestion of "Washington Scandals"? Of course not!! In fact, I will lay money down in Vegas (with odds!) that their new name, which has taken longer to come up with, will be much, much less popular than the somewhat neutral Guardians...
  13. It is true. People keep planning on Sale to return, but it's probably not wise to do so and maybe even not possible this season. No setbacks to date doesn't mean they are never coming. And I would hate to see him out for 2022 just so the Sox could use him for 30 to 40 IP this season...
  14. Saves on printing costs for the new uniforms…
  15. But ERod also became somewhat of a question mark…
  16. I doubt one AAA start makes for much of a showcase...
  17. I'd actually take Ward off that list, since he's a bit of an issue right now. He's hadly even a lock for the 40 man roster in December. Groome, Potts, and Rosario are probably the headliners on the 40 man roster, with Chavis and Arauz available to anyone interested. If he does actually deal a promising prospect, a situation I agree is unlikely, I will nominate Gilberto Jimenez as my candidate..
  18. I don’t think that’sa requirements to be a GM. Jim Hendry, Chuck Lamar…
  19. Jets…
  20. Which is why you’re not a GM…
  21. Per BTV, Rizzo would cost with Gilberto Jimenez or Bryan Mata or maybe Yorke plus Rosario…
  22. Think Houck has 12 seasons in him? It’s not as common as many think. Porcello has 29.6 fWAR. Since 2000, that total ranks him 48th in MLB, tied with Brandon Webb and just behind Barry Zito. Is Houck a top 50 pitcher over a two decade stretch? If so, Houck better get going as he’s only 6 1/2 years younger than Porcello and Porcello had accumulated nearly 14 fWAR when he was Houck’s age…
  23. The thing is, we probably don’t have a single pitcher anywhere in the Sox farm system capable of having a career as a starter as good as Porcello has had…
  24. Nah. They let that hockey team use their old name with no fuss…
  25. Probably not in this bullpen happy era…
