  1. What makes you think I don’t already own a tee and a hitting net?
  2. No one feels great about it, but it’s not necessarily the final nail in the coffin either. Six months ago, the Yankees were a juggernaut, an unholy force about to be unleashed on MLB and leave behind devastation and destruction as they laughed at the futile attempts of any team who got in their way, while the Sox were supposed to be some sort of pitching-bereft squad hoping to fend off the Orioles and not repeat in the cellar. Six months later, these teams are separated by one game…
  3. Not saying they shouldn’t. Just not assuming everything goes as needed. This year, while the highs have been very high, the lows have been much, much more painful…
  4. Despite horrific track records early on, each of them has demonstrated the ability to make the majors. That in itself means they are capable - not necessarily probable, but capable - of having a good day. The Sox did get shut down by an otherwise unspectacular Logan Allen not too long ago…
  5. Right. As opposed to the whole “if you’re happy with a surprisingly good season, that’s loser talk” mantra. Crazy thought - don’t tell other people what to enjoy and not to enjoy…
  6. It’s not the same as the 2018 team. This team was built on the embers of a once great rotation that crumbled in our midst. Only 9 players remain from that 2018 team, and one of them was not even there when the season started…
  7. Don’t do that!! I nearly spit coffee all over my monitor!! Which I don’t own because I’m at work!
  8. Good thing. He’d probably injure himself putting his name on the contract….
  9. Some of us are fans of baseball, not just winning baseball teams…
  10. That’s not his real name…
  11. So… you’re saying it is like playing Assumption College? The school that (along with my high school) unleashed Chris Colabello on the world?
  12. One thing in favor of Stroman and Gausman, besides both having AL East experience, is neither is eligible for a QO (assuming those are still a thing). That cannot be said about Desclafini and Ray…
  13. Alex Wood? When it comes to durability, he makes Eovaldi look like Tim Wakefield…
  14. Forgive 5Gold. He operates on the assumption that Bloom doesn’t know the Red Sox have money and will continue to operate the Sox as a small market team, much like how Dan Duquette did when he came over from Montreal or like how Bloom’s predecessor in Tampa is doing with the Dodgers, frantically scavenging and cost-cutting to keep that payroll below the $500 million mark. Just look at his team! He has 3 starters whose previous jobs were all utility infielder!!
  15. Oh they’re not going to sit their starting lineup. But they’re not going to burn out their bullpen and they will let some of the Taylor Walls/Jordan Luplow types get at bats in key situations that during the regular season might require a pinch hitter…
  16. Are you using season long numbers? They made a few changes in late July, including sending us an unnamed LF/1b/DH…
  17. As bad as the Orioles are, the team still is made of Major League players. Not like the Sox are going up against Assumption College or the Dedham Lion’s Club here…
  18. Not true. If the Sox go 4-2, their record would be 92-70. The only way Toronto could pass them is by going 6-0, which would mean at least 3 losses for the Yankees, giving them at best a record of 92-70, meaning a regular season play-in game for the WC…
  19. Yeah all three of those innings from Connor Seabold did paint a pretty grim picture moving forward…
  20. The last 3 with Tampa probably helps the Yankees since the Rays could lock up home field as soon as tomorrow and won’t be throwing the “A Team” out there vs the Yankees for 3 days…
  21. They should pass on Rosenthal. Trevor Rosenthal has all of 39 IP since 2017. They’d be better off counting on Ken Rosenthal…
  22. Robles has a 0.00 ERA and a .281 OPSA in September. Davis has a 0.00 ERA and a .580 OPSA in September. They’ve both improved a bit..,
  23. Not to mention on 1978, a lot of fans forget which team won and which team lost their last games to even make that one play-in game even happen…
  24. It is ironic that many fans call for a total rebuild if the team misses the postseason by one game. Do these people have any idea how long a total rebuild can take and how infrequently they are successful?
  25. Maybe he was referring to The Gap. While I will admit, their clothes do fit just about anyone’s budget, I’d still agree with him there…
