  1. I hate to speak ill of a fellow Domer, but everything I’ve heard is that his defense sucks. So he should fit right in.
  2. Is that the guy with 7 letters in his surname or the guy with 6?
  3. Rafaela is probably 1st for guys hitting 9th. 16 from Duran isn't bad out of your leadoff guy. Putrid doesn't begin to describe the other 3.
  4. No kidding. Raffy is 6-29 with RISP this year with 11 Ks.
  5. Changed to Devers in the box score; in fact, it was considered a caught stealing.
  6. Now 1/14 but at least that time the ball was ripped. Duvall with a heck of a play.
  7. Dumb, yes. You can never assume the inning will play out the same, but at the end of it all, you still had Devers up with the bases loaded and he failed to even get the bat on the ball. Merloni called the 3-2 slider before it was thrown. “If he threw it 3-1, he’s going to throw it 3-2” or words to that effect.
  8. Cue the nattering nabobs of negativism who haven’t been seen in a few days.
  9. Pretty sure it was Urias last August against the Yankees. IIRC, he hit one the previous game as well.
  10. Actually, Short made 6 appearances on the mound for Detroit last year, totaling 6 innings. So I guess he takes Reyes' place as the blowout game pitcher.
  11. It will come down to which of Hamilton or Valdez might possibly improve playing in AAA. Hamilton is a couple years older, so it’s less likely he would, so I’m guessing Valdez will go down when Grissom is activated tomorrow. I frankly thought both would go; a bit surprised at Reyes since he can also serve as the 14th pitcher LOL.
  12. Actually, the minor league seasons go much later now. Whereas the regular season used to wrap up around Labor Day, this year A ball ends on September 8, Portland on the 15th and Worcester on the 22nd. Makes it even easier to roll guys up and down since many are actually still playing. Not sure if the new minimum stay times are in effect in September or not. But it only takes an injury to get around those and at that time of year, everyone has some little thing. Changing up the back-end guys is nothing.
  13. If Duran is tagging, it wouldn't have mattered. Neither one of those scenarios is going to get Duran at the plate unless he falls down.
  14. Agree 100%. Especially since it was Duran. If it were a Casas or Yoshida, the part way thing is fine; they aren't going to score if from there no matter who catches the ball. It has to drop in. With his speed, the only way Duran doesn't score is if the left fielder gets there to make the catch, in which case he just stays at 3rd. If the SS or 3B make the catch, he scores.
  15. Grissom apparently is done with his Worcester rehab/spring training and will be up with the big club tomorrow. Cooper should also be added to the active roster, so two moves coming.
  16. I made post 82 but didn’t realize Joely had already been DFA’d. Uwasara is a lefty, but I’m not sure that would have been the spot for his debut. I looked back and you did indeed post about your concerns with keeping Martin in in real time. Kudos to you for that; you are not a 20-20 hindsight guy as so many others here are.
  17. Duran got away with it, but he made a mistake on the game winning play. He was not tagging up on O’Neill’s hit. If Swanson catches it, he doesn’t score. If he’s tagging, even if Swanson catches it, there is almost no way Duran gets thrown out at the plate.
  18. Incorrect. Martin was not forced to face Tauchman. He got the last out in the 7th and then allowed the two hits to start the 8th, so he had faced his 3 batters. Both hits were bloops, so it’s not like he was being line drived to death. I had no issue with him facing Tauchman. If Cora brings in a lefty, it’s either Bernardino, who pitched yesterday, or Rodriguez, who gave up 3 runs in an inning on Friday and whose performance this season needs no further comment. Tauchman got him, it happens.
  19. Cooper’s got to get to Boston first; he wasn’t on the Cubs active roster so he’s either still in Chicago or maybe back home (wherever that is). We will likely find out tomorrow.
  20. They might have to include 6 baseballs in the deal. The other team has to get something of value.
  21. You can probably count the number of players in the majors who can consistently bunt for a base hit on two hands, and I mean that’s across all 30 teams.
  22. If he’s going to fit in …
