  1. Two chances to make a play and the Sox make neither.
  2. He's not giving up his ESPN gig to do full time PxP for the Sox. He's going to be gone for at least a month right now for the Stanley Cup playoffs.
  3. Care to expand on your reasoning?
  4. I have no problem with Rafaela playing short. I have no problem with him playing center. I have a problem jerking him back and forth. He’s trying to figure things out offensively; it’s not fair to him to have to play two very important positions on a game by game basis.
  5. There’s a reason 10 guys either didn’t get the job or wouldn’t even interview. The problem is above whoever is in the Bloom/Breslow seat.
  6. Looks like a bigger chunk than they, but I’ll take your numbers as correct.
  7. Pretty close to that. A couple thousand short of that for day games, because they put a black tarp over the area in dead center in those.
  8. Sean McDonough not mincing any words on the postgame radio comments. Said out loud that Hamilton is not the solution at short and that they are getting nothing out of several others. Breslow knows this; Henry's not going to let him do anything. IMO, Hamilton needs to be sent to Low-A and told to learn to catch the ball.
  9. Only put him out there when the Sox are hitting. Maybe it would rub off on the other team. Once the Sox are on D, put him outside Fenway for that 1/2 inning. And on cue, Hamilton screws up another potential DP, which costs another run. Edit - make that 2.
  10. Bottom line is 2 hits and 4 runners ain't going to get it done. And it happens way too often.
  11. We can blame Cora for the defense but Merloni said it best about AAA depth; the most important thing they need to be able to do is catch the ball. You aren’t asking depth guys to carry you offensively. It goes deeper than Cora; guys are not learning in the minors.
  12. As was Swihart’s initial try in LF (2016 I think). He racked up his ankle running into the wall down the line in left n one of the first games he played out there and was never the same.
  13. Except lemonade tastes good. The better analogy is chicken s***-chicken salad.
  14. No, the blame goes straight to John Henry. He’s the one who has constrained Breslow from signing better players; I think much of the rest of the ownership group is pissed off at JH as well.
  15. Players have to give the fans a little help to promote atmosphere. I did hear some boos after the Rafaela-Casas error.
  16. Only 4-0, but that’s not the issue. Throw wasn’t that bad. Houck could have been out of the first on 7 pitches if the D could make routine plays.
  17. Fair enough, and no matter what, I hope they never get to the level of the Yankees, who not only retire the numbers of the greats but also the very goods. Bernie Williams was a very good player but there is no reason his number should have been retired.
  18. I said uh oh as soon as Hamilton missed the bag.
  19. The requirement at one time was HOF and ending your career with the Red Sox. The formal requirements were eliminated several years ago. If it were HOF and entire career, only Williams, Yaz, Rice and Doerr would be up there. I know Fisk signed a one day contract with the Red Sox to fulfill that ending career part.
  20. Renfroe’s played for 7 teams in the last 6 years. Is every GM dumb? There’s some reason he can’t stick with a team for more than a year.
  21. That would be my choice.
  22. Except BB went 2 last night, throwing 29 pitches. Guessing he might not be available.
