Actually, mostly missing; the scores were 6-0, 9-0. 8-0 and 5-0. Three of those were on the road and the staff only pitched 8 innings.

Wow, what penetrating analysis. This statement can be made about every pitcher who’s ever lived. The great ones can locate consistently with occasional blips. The poor ones can’t locate consistently with occasional times when they can. At least the reply didn’t rival War and Peace for word count.

They’ve also run into a couple teams on hot streaks. The Pirates were on a 9-3 run when they came to Boston and when they left, went home and swept the Dodgers. (I know, that was before Anthony went down). Arizona is currently on an 8-2 run against the Brewers, Dodgers, Rangers and Red Sox. It’s not always who you play. It’s when you play them. That being said, the bigger issue is they look lifeless. That’s different than winless -

No idea. Probably goes back to a similar play a week or so ago. This team is imploding in all phases of the game.

TYPM, you need some new material. You can only write so many sequels to a novel before it becomes stale, and you don’t even change the plot.

A totally different pitcher at home vs. on the road. 8-3 in 14 starts at home with a 3.6 ERA; 4-5 in 14 starts on the road with a 7.1 ERA. 12-8 overall W-L says he’s a guy the Dbacks give a lot of run support to. There’s one on every team just like there’s always one starter who doesn’t.

Lefty slop down in the zone, which has been kryptonite for Boston bats for a long time. Sox swung at lots of balls below the zone.

Looks like the entire team forgot to get on the plane Wednesday. They have been awful tonight in all phases of the game tonight.

Narvaez’s pitch catching lately has been horrific. Way too many out and out whiffs.

Just curious, how many posters has TYPM told to not respond to his posts? I’ve lost track (okay, I was never tracking it). Hint - if you don’t want people to respond, don’t post. Otherwise, it’s fair game. (Not that he’ll see this, as I’m pretty sure I’m blocked since I’m not of an equal “superior baseball mind”).

Agree 100%. Campbell earned his way on the team and then earned his way back to the minors via performance, not some dislike on the part of the manager or team management. For what I assume is the first time in his life, he struggled at baseball. As I’ve said elsewhere, he was promoted too fast IMO. He made the majors with less than 150 minor league games total, or about 1 minor league season. Mookie was over 300. Trout about the same. As for TYPM’s insane complaint about being moved off of shortstop, I’ve pointed out to him that so were most other right handed infielders in the majors and more than a few right handed outfielders as well. There’s no hate for KC here. We want him to succeed. But I’ll take the judgement of the people actually paid to make those decisions (and there are many) rather than the opinion of one disgruntled guy with a man crush on a young player.

There are reports of a possible ankle injury and an MRI today. If true, maybe not so stupid? You know, there is the possibility that the Sox brass has a little more knowledge on player availability than we do.

What rookie doesn’t? As for Bregman, every player goes through rough patches. If you could look back at Ted Williams game logs, you’d find a few bad weeks or months in there. Not many, but some and Alex is not Teddy Bsllgzme. Bregman is not 100% and won’t be the rest of the year. He’s going out there every day and giving it his best. Even at 70%, he’s still better than anyone else they could put at 3rd on a regular basis.

As I posted yesterday, when you play a team is almost as important as who you play. Bad teams, even White Sox/Rockies level bad, have good weeks here and there over the season. Good teams have bad weeks. Catch any team when they are in one of these extremes … The Pirates have won 9 out of 12; they are in a good stretch right now. It’ll end soon, but that doesn’t matter today.

Yeah, Fred seems to have forgotten or more likely never knew Breslow was around 11th person they contacted about the job; most if not all of the earlier candidates declined to even interview.

Was ERod really the Sox #5 in 2018? Guys like Pomeranz, Brian Johnson and Hector Velazquez combined for 34 or so starts and Eduardo was certainly better than those guys. ERod went down with some injury in mid July (was that the ankle after which he never covered first again?) which I think influenced Dombrowski to get Eovaldi. He was definitely #5 when he came back in September and had a pretty bad month. Arroyo was definitely #5 in 2004.

A little premature on the best top 4 starters talk. We have no idea what we have in Tolle except potential. Let’s see what happens once teams get a book on him. Agree totally with your take on the #5 starter. By definition, a #5 is not a great pitcher. You hope they can keep you in the game most of the time and your offense can score enough to win.
