  1. One plus on Hanley the past few games is he appears to be starting to go the other way a little. He's a far better hitter when he does that.
  2. Very true. But like you, I will trust the professionals in the Sox organization to judge when Devers is ready. Accountants, engineers, doctors and lawyers on a Red Sox forum looking only at minor league offensive numbers do not qualify, despite how much they think they are experts.
  3. And the prorated portion at that. So roughly $275K (around half the MLB minimum of $535K and going down every day).
  4. Possibly. But if you do that and Leon extends the game without touching them all, you are stuck trying to score Sandy, who may be the slowest guy on the team, with the tie run. You can't run for him. In any event, Young was going to hit for Marrero no matter what, and unfortunately, he didn't get the job done.
  5. He had Kimbrel, but he did not have the Kimbrel we have seen this year.
  6. A whole lot harder than the other way around. George "Boomer" Scott was a gold glove first baseman with the Sox and Brewers; he also played over 200 games at 3rd and was decidedly below average.Yaz was a great left fielder and a decent first basemen. He was a disaster when he tried to play 3rd in 1973. Travis has enough to figure out without worrying about changing to a much harder position.
  7. When he kicked the bat or helmet (couldn't tell which) it's going to be automatic.
  8. As bad as Porcello was, offensively 3 runs in 3 games ain't going to get you very many wins. They are fortunate to have gotten 1.
  9. Nah, you don't want that. At least they are using Maddox, whoever the hell that is. That's an okay use of the pen.
  10. The way this one is going, that might not be a bad thing. Fox has had trouble today. I turned on the U.S. Open around lunch time and they were off the air for a while, and then had no announcers for a spell (that was interesting as all you could hear was the talk between the golfers and their caddies).
  11. I wouldn't use pitches, I would use innings. Tell him he's going 7, no matter how many he throws.
  12. Now I leave him in to take the pounding. No sense wasting any bullpen in this one.
  13. At this point, there really is no rotation as we think of it. And after Sale right now, it's all question marks. I mean, you've got Sale then Price/Porcello/Pomeranz in some sort of order for 2-4 and Velazquez #5.
  14. You know, maybe that need to switch up the catcher and use Vazquez with Porcello. Got to try something with him.
  15. Chances are now he settles down, gets through the next 5 innings unscathed and keeps the Sox close. But since the aren't scoring for him this season, that won't be good enough. He is actually on a pace to lose 20 games. Sad thing is, you generally have to be a pretty decent pitcher to lose 20.
  16. True, but I posted that as McCann came to the plate.
  17. Doesn't look good but only Springer hit the ball well; the other 2 were not exactly roped.
  18. If you read his signature, you will see the answer.
  19. So long as the ump is consistent with the call.
  20. Xander looks like he is not seeing the ball at all right now. He really looks like he could use a day off.
  21. Kelly doesn't get that because he's all over the place with his pitches. Luckily, it didn't cost him. Kelly would do well to dial it down to 95 and get some movement on those fastballs; everything is straight as an arrow. Reminds me of Bard a little (when Bard could still find the plate). Mookie. Mookie.
  22. I'd be more impressed if you had said it before the 7th inning. And the score aside, I'll take that effort from any starting pitcher any day of the week.
  23. When did we trade Butterfield to the Astros? (although that one reminded me more of Wendell Kim).
  24. Who, and at more importantly, at what price?
