  1. No they need to let it go. They have far more to be concerned with than more revenge.
  2. Sure looked like it. I've seen guys fined for less but you can guarantee Torre will back ex-Yankee Showalter and do nothing
  3. I have not called for that yet but right now I give it a week. If the boneheaded stupid play continue for another 4-5 games it may have to be done.
  4. Nah, the O's are just setting us up for a triple play.
  5. There are people who have called for him to get the job even if Sandoval was still available. Sox 3rd sackers are reminding me of the year when Butch Hobson made 30+ errors and was adjusting bone chips in his elbow betweeen pitches.
  6. Anyone still think Hernandez is the answer at 3rd? He hasn't shown me much there this season.
  7. 3rd base is an absolute disaster area this year. That is 8 errors at the position this season.
  8. Not against the Red Sox he doesn't. Nothing will happen tonight unless it's a blow-out game. Showalter will order retaliation at some point this season, but he isn't going to have one of his mainline guys do it. It will be a back of the bullpen type and I predict it will be at Betts when it does happen.
  9. I'm really getting concerned about the defense. You can't give bad teams 4 and 5 outs, much less good teams. 4 errors and a PB today. Farrell's braincramp and Sox D is the difference in the game.
  10. The funny thing is, while that never works with icebergs, it can sometimes work with baseball teams. Not always, but sometimes.
  11. Ding ding ding. The primary job of a lead-off hitter is to get on base so that the so-called big boppers can do their thing and drive him in. Speed is vastly overrated for a guy in the #1 lot. Is it a plus? Absolutely. Is it a necessity? Absolutely not. If you disagree, Wade Boggs is on line 1 for you.
  12. Exactly; you can't play baseball well in a rage. And even if you could, it is impossible to keep that up day after day for 6 months. It's not football, where you get to turn it on once a week. Even in football, positions such as QB and receiver cannot be played angry.
  13. And if we look back in the archives, you will find a thread (or 2) just like this from last year. And the year before that. And ... Some of it's bad contact, some of it's bad luck. Benintendi hit a couple of balls for outs yesterday that were stuck well. Bradley smashed at least 2 bullets right at the first baseman. I am concerned about 2 guys, Bogaerts and Pedroia, who have combined for all of 2 extra base hits. These are guys (especially Bogaerts), who should be doubles machines, who should be in the 40s at least for XBH over the season (Xander should be 50+).
  14. A lot of credit. Filthy.
  15. Don't fall for his bait, Max
  16. Don't fall for his bait Kimmi.
  17. And I hate to say it but the Yankees have a real good one in Severino. He can be nasty. Best hope for the Sox is Girardi over manages and they can get to the pen. They aren't touching Severino.
  18. Not having a good night defensively either. Two bad throws and failed to contain a pitch in the dirt that cost the 3rd Yankee run.
  19. Which umpire? There are a few that are held in such high esteem that the players and mangers might take up a collection and give the cash to Harper (or Tejada).
  20. And Mookie will be the one to "pay" for this. He will get thrown at by some nobody on the O's staff at some point later this year. When that happens, benches need to empty and somebody needs to make a beeline straight to Showalter and pound the snot out of him.
  21. I think JD Drew was on the DL a couple of times with vertigo. If I remember right, Holt missed considerable time with concussions symptoms last season (I'm thinking around 6 weeks). And I think he has had more than one concussion in his short career. One has to wonder if there is relation (at least as a contributing factor if not the main one).
  22. As I said above, it was the correct move. Kimbrel has converted 25 straight saves and was 5-5 this year; he's been very good of late and has had 2 days off. It was a move that just didn't work. Morales is a good hitter, so it's not like he gave it up to some stiff.
  23. Kimbrel vultures the win
  24. Second time this season they've scored 3 in extras in a game he started (the 3-0 game that Leon hit the 3 run shot in the 12th was the other).
  25. It was the right move. It just didn't work. Ends a streak of 25 straight saves for Kimbrel, and he was 5-5 this year.
