  1. Well if nothing else, at least he doesn't appear to be afraid to throw the ball with guys on base.
  2. You only get a hold if you come in in a save situation but don't finish the game. So no, no blown holds.
  3. Weird. I know he hasn't always looked good, but believe it or not, that's only Barnes 2nd blown save of the season; ironically, the other one was also against Miami way back in April.
  4. Oh for crying out loud, it happened in 3 pitches. That's not enough time to even stand up and stretch. much less get warmed up.
  5. Agree on Porcello. If nothing else, he gives you innings (usually 6 and often 7). Johnson usually done after 4 or maybe 5. Velazquez, nah. He's been doing a Houdini act all year (WHIP is nearly 1.5) and it caught up to him last time out. Plus he doesn't give you more than 3 innings right now.
  6. Wright would be bullpen help. I don't see any way he could get stretched out enough to return to the rotation; minor league seasons end Monday.
  7. Good start for Johnson; lately, it seems like he's had trouble in the first then settles down for about 4 innings
  8. Same here, and yes, I do remember TWIB (Mel Allen hosting).
  9. Maybe Sale could buy one and perform an exorcism on it.
  10. I know the Rays have hit a few balls hard today but they’ve also had a lot of bloops, dinks, choppers etc.
  11. This game has gone so bad that even the nattering nabob of negativism has stopped posting today.
  12. If Snell is done for the day, that makes 14 straight home starts where he’s allowed 1 run or less. It extends his own MLB record.
  13. Not the AB for that comment.
  14. In Kelly's case, I believe he thinks too much.
  15. Kelly thinks too much. Take a page from Sale and throw what the catcher puts down.
  16. To be fair, he induced the DP grounder from Encarnacion and Holt screwed it up.
  17. Nope, strictly the official scorer's opinion.
  18. All of us have occasional "ignorant posts", SS. Some of us will even admit it. You at least contribribute to the board discussion. Twitterman (I call him that because his posts are always in the game thread, short, generally negative and very much stream of conscience type and overall boring) is the ultimate in ignorant posts.
  19. No Johnson can't get the win; the scoring rules say it should go to the most effective reliever. If I had to guess right now, I think Workman will get the nod. Hembree did give up the homer; Workman pitched with just the 2 run lead while Barnes had a 4 run cushion.
  20. Brasier for the 8th and Kimbrel for the 9th? (I use Kimbrel no matter what, he hasn't pitched since Saturday).
  21. That was a rhetorical question, correct?
  22. But a good long AB, the kind that tends to help get starters out of the game earlier; even getting a lot of pitches in an inning which can have benefits as well in that inning.
  23. Peterug isn’t even clever about being a troll. Not worth the time to respond to it. Don’t feed the trolls.
  24. 20 posts and not one with anything good to say. You and Mr. Twitter should tag team.
  25. Bieber is not a power pitcher but he throws strikes. Minor leagues he was well over 200 Ks against 19 BBs.
