  1. The first two weeks of the season Holt was the hottest hitter on the team and carried the team in multiple games, IE his grand slam in one of Joe Kellys s***** starts. a month later people want him off the team/benched for blake swihart of all people.Calm Down, now that my arch enemy Chris Young has started hitting, we have production 1-8 (with vazquez occasionally getting a hit). Stop complaining about the offense, and start complaining about REAL problems, like global warming, donald trump becoming president, and the Red Sox starting pitching rotation, in reverse order of the way I listed them of course.
  2. Carson Smith sounds like he could have a somewhat serious, if not very serious injury, which isn't good. Along with that news, Uehara appears to be showing his age some, not that this means he wont be effective, but thankfully the pen is so deep that even if the worst happens regarding those two, we should be Okay.
  3. Andruw and Chipper Jones as well.
  4. Vladimir Guerrero, Jim Thome and Johan Santana, among others will also be eligible for the first time next year I believe.
  5. Sean O'Sullivan was just designated for assignment.
  6. I wanted to start a thread discussing solely the bullpen, which I think has been severely underrated this year. If you think about rocky the rotation has been aside from Porcello and Wright, they have been outstanding. They've consistently had to go 4 innings AT LEAST every start, and besides a rocky start from Kimbrell and the very ineffective Noe Ramirez who isn't even on the MLB team this year, most the guys have been good Robbie Ross - 2.81 ERA, 1.13 WHIP Matt Barnes - 3.44 ERA, 1.48 WHIP Koji Uehara - 2.93 ERA, 0.85 ERA Craig Kimbrell - 2.65 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 10 Saves Tommy Layne - 1.93 ERA, 1.39 WHP Heath Hembree - 1.76 ERA, 1.37 WHIP Junichi Tazawa - 1.72 ERA, 0.83 WHIP Carson Smith - 0.00 ERA, 1.13 WHIP (Only 3 appearances**) This Bullpen aside from a few guys who made like 1 appearance and sucked, like Light, Elias, Cuevas and so-on has been pretty dominant. I know a lot of these guys aren't liked very much, such as Barnes and Ross, but they have done a very good job and hasn't been talked about too much. Not to mention Carson Smith just got healthy, making this bullpen even more deadly.
  7. Kimbrel last 8 games: 8 IP, 1 hit, 3 walks, 0 runs. 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP. ERA on season 2.65, that is the guy we paid for.
  8. Curt Schilling Nomar Garciaparra Trevor Hoffman Bernie Williams
  9. Sullivan also gave up a lot of hard hit balls for outs if he gives up 12 hits and 4 runs every start in 6 innings, he wont last long
  10. Didn't Bill Muelller win a battle title batting 9th?
  11. Be careful D-Money, ive been warned about calling Buchholz a butthole, even though he definitely is one.
  12. Saying we shouldn't move him due to OF depth in minors and JBJ is silly. I like JBJ, but Trout is a future hall of famer and those minor league guys, including Moncada, who we obviously all love are unproven at this point.
  13. That is true, Crawford, Pablo, Hanley (although he is okay now) and thus far, Price.
  14. Moncada and Benintendi may be minor leagues, but they are both considered elite prospects and a deal centered around them has to make the Angels at least listen in my opinion.
  15. I agree with this, but the rumor has seemed to have popped up more and more over the past few days. The Angels do have a lot of bad contracts and Trout's salary almost doubles in 2018, which could be a facctor into why they could POSSIBLY consider this. What would it realistically take to? http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/70439/think-the-unthinkable-angels-will-have-to-think-about-trading-mike-trout If you offer those 4 plus JBJ, you think Angels accept?
  16. Manny was a beast, but a majority of these long term contracts end up being awful, especially at the end of the deal.
  17. I know there is similar threads, but this is a big enough player and topic I'd like to create its own thread. Angels have all kinds of issues and aren't winning anything anytime soon, so there has been rumors swirling that Mike Trout could be available for a huge haul of prospects, and one of the teams mentioned as a "Potential suitor" (along with the Dodgers and Phillies) is the Red Sox. http://www.forbes.com/sites/alexreimer/2016/05/07/the-3-most-realistic-mike-trout-trade-scenarios/2/#29e9d953248f Obviously this isn't a sure thing, and probably unlikely, but what would you give up for Trout? If we can acquire him with only giving up minor league talent and maybe a few MLB guys like say Swihart, Owens, maybe E-Rod, I'd say go for it. Trout is one of the best players in league, is young, affordable (for how good he is and in comparison to other stars), has no off the field issues and would give us the best outfield in the MLB. Sure these guys COULD be studs, but will they be a perennial mvp candidate and one of best all around players in league and possibly all time? What is you guys opinion on this? What would you give up?
  18. Really, your going to complain about players celebrating mothers days and using pink bats, that are auctioned off to donate money for breast cancer research? does the color of the bat really effect your watching of the game in anyway whatsoever?
  19. And people have kids at at like 16. Being 30, you could very easily have a kid who is starting high school this year.. Not to make you feel old, just pointing out the absurdity of that comment.
  20. A majority of the team, big contracts or long periods of time don't work out. Look at the guys the Sox have signed to long term contracts and there has been a lot of busts/bad moves. Sure, Manny worked out, but what about Lugo, Renteria (thankfully we traded him), Crawford (see renteria), Pablo, Price (so far), etc, etc, etc.Ellsbury is no exception.
  21. I just don't get all this defense of Pablo, sure, he is a decent enough guy, but he is paid more money per year then the average person will make in there life to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Everytime someone sucks at their job or does something stupid, its a disorder.. "Oh he drove drunk, he was depressed" "oh he murdered someone, insanity". Like come on, Pablo was a productive player, signed a HUGE deal, gained more weigh and now cant do his job, now its a disorder? I guess the pressure of making too much money made him fatter?
  22. I would imagine with the lack of good catcher in baseball, especially ones that can hit, Swihart would definitely have more value in trade then playing LF for us. Is Swiharts bat really that much better than Holt? I doubt it. Also, I wouldn't trade JBJ, now that he's finally hitting, we trade him? Why?
  23. I see, I thought they were implying I was dutch and that was the reason for my posts. I can honestly say I've never used this site before this account, and the IP check should have confirmed that, and i don't even know how to pm people, so anything of that nature wasn't me.
  24. When Pablo played in those years, he was productive, could field his position and wasn't a huge liability everywhere. At this point, he was horrible last year, couldn't field his position and hurt the team. He was always fat, but at this point, he definitely looks fatter. I could care less if he's fat, there have been plenty of productive fat guys. CC Sabathia, Prince Fielder, Mo Vaughn, and so on. But if you are fat and don't produce, you are going to be made fun of, whether it be fair or not, this is Boston, when Carl Crawford was struggling, there was numerous idiots at the game using the "n-word". Its a tough city, but Pablo doesn't deserve much sympathy when he is making that much money and playing at such a low level.
  25. Buchholz will get a hot stretch, he ALWAYS does, its just that he also always gets injured in the middle of his hot stretch with a strained vagina, a cavity, or a hangnail, you know, something serious enough to end his season.
