  1. My enthusiasm for Vazquez is waning. Except that noone eslse can catch Wright, I don't he's that much of any improvement over Leon or Hanigan. If this was Sept and we were fighting for a spot, I would certainly go with Leon 3 out of every 4 games. Right now, I see them splitting the time more often than one would have expected, and maybe will Leon wil slump his way back to Pawtucket. For the team's sake, I hope he gets even better.
  2. Pedroia will make a good manager some day. And this may shock some people, but I think Ortiz would also. Most likely scenario: Farrell will move to the front office in November, and Veritek will be the new manager.
  3. Not to worry. 18 home games in July, 7 away. Tahe 2 of the 3 coming up in Tampa, and go on from there.
  4. If you haven't turned it over to CNN to see what's new in the shooting news, please notice how Buchholz finishes. Twirling. Looking down like the mound's at fault. There are thousands of pictures out there that show Lefty Grove, Bob Feller, Koufax, Pedro and their finishes. They're looking right at the hitter. Not at the second baseman. The guy does not know how to pitch anymore!
  5. I feel the same way. From the little I've seen of Leon, he is a better catcher than Hanigan. I sure don't want to see Hanigan trying to catch Wright again. I'm sure JF doesn't either.
  6. I don't see any downside either. It is an even more of a welcome surprise because he is a switch hitter. He comes around just as injuries are forcing to plug Shaw into left field at a time when he is trying to keep things straight going from 3rd to 1st and back. Holt comes back, and that may help the LF situation. Leon not only prevents JF from using too much of the young Vazquez, but gives him a good (for now anyway) pinch hitter. He's working his way upwards into the "best surprise player of the year."
  7. What in the world has got into this 27 year old third string catcher. He is looking more like the World Series Panda every day. I'm waiting for the fantasy to come to an end, and praying that it doesn't come to an end. He's not just doing things in a 7-2 game, he's doing it when it's a 7-5 game. Any opinions (you'll probably come up with the wrong projection, but don't we all?)

This is ancredible set of numbers
  9. Bad news and Good news. Baltimore gets to beat up on the Rays today AND tonight. We have to wait until next week!
  10. Addition? Hell, he IS the team! As he goes, the team goes.
  11. Leon, leon, leon mookie, mookie, mookie, uee, uee, uee
  12. As Mookie goes, so go the Red Sox!
  13. Not with me watching, they don't!
  14. Just like the Rays, tonight, Texas guys are not waitng to kind behind in the count. (Mookie, Pedy and Hanley please wake up.) Called strike one is usually a bad idea.
  15. Is it my imagination, or does Hanley take more called strikes than any one elseon this team?
  16. Rays at Orioles, 6/24 Rays 1st inning: double, home run, double, single, walk, DP, walk, K Orioles: down 1-2-3 Rays haven't won this month have they?
  17. I guess there's more than one way to lose a ball game! Bad luck, bad relief pitching, bad base running. I guess that will do it.
  18. I wonder if Butterfield was not paying attention to who was running. He's not used to waving guys around anymore!
  19. I see they finally dropped HR to the 7 hole. Next come 8, then 9, then common sense. But this is a step in the right direction. Shame; I was crazy about this guy a few years ago!
  20. Why not? 40 year old men can't put in an hour's worth of hard work every day? Tell that to the coal miners!
  21. The fact is, all five AL East teams lost yesterday. 4 of them at home! The Sox are one game back of the Orioles. Install the lineup(s) I suggested, and go on from there. Get Hanley the hell out an rbi-man's hole. Maybe out of the lineup altogether. It's not like we don't have another first baseman. Shaw goes to first, Holt, Marrero, whomever, goes to third. Pedroia goes to lead-off Betts goes to No. 5. Papi plays every game. (He would not have left 5 men on base yesterday!) It's not the 6th game of the world series!
  22. It’s way past time for a lineup shakeup. Until Holt gets back, and against both LH and RH pitching, I would like to see: Pedroia Bradley Bogaerts Ortiz Betts Young Shaw Ramiriz Catcher After Holt returns, I’d like to see the following against RH pitching: Holt Bradley’ Bogaerts Ortiz Betts Young Holt Shaw Catcher Against LH pitching Lineup No. 1 will do. But, for Pete’s sake (as well as the rest of us) put Hanley out to pasture. And, with Betts behind Ortiz, Papi will see a lot better pitches, Hanley is no protection at all!
  23. For what it's worth, it seems to me that the phrase, as "Betts goes, so go the Red Sox" is a real truism. I am not going to waste my time scrounging through the records of the games already played, but when Betts is 2-4, 3-5, going from first to home on a swinging bunt, etc, etc, that we win. When he's hitting ground balls to the 3rd baseman all day, we lose. Anybody else noticed?
  24. Sad part is we are also stuck with a manager who insists on Hanley hitting in the 5 hole. AND NOW IT'S THE 4 HOLE! C'mon man! One 500 ft bomb does not make up for his terrible performance overall. Put him No. 8 or 9 until you find someone else.
