  1. How about: Hanley back to first, Swihart the new DH. Swihart can hit from both sides of the plate, runs the bases ell and is a lousy fiielder. Sounds like a natural DH to me.
  2. Top of the 3rd in Cincinnatti . Nava 2 for 2, 2 home runs, 3 rbi. Haven't seen Buch yet. Like old times!
  3. Thank you to someone for the "personal link". It didn't work; maybe you can fix it.
  4. Buch goes for the Phillies today
  5. Move the francise to Ft Myers; wouldn't have problems like that. Maybe a few skin lesions now and then, but those are nothing any more! Guess they'd have to add a few seats.
  6. Not much talk about it, I guess, but I hope it's not serious!
  7. Or, Rick & Chris and hope David joins the list. At least it's not as dire as it lokks for the Yankees!
  8. According to Wiki: Like the double-play combination of Tinker, Evers, and Chance, Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain were linked together in verse. The poet responsible for this pairing was Gerald V. Hern, an editor of the Boston Post. In September of the 1948 season he penned an ode to the Boston Braves aces: First we’ll use Spahn, then we’ll use Sain, Then an off day, followed by rain. Back will come Spahn, followed by Sain, And followed, we hope, by two days of rain.
  9. The quote was "Spahn then Sain, then pray for rain. There were two or three varities, but that was the most popular. No, I didn't make it up (or look it up). I remember it vividly; the Braves were my favorite team at that time. PS I don't think there was such a thing as WAR at that time.
  10. I think we're looking at "RICK & CHRIS," then, "HIT or MISS"
  11. Giants lead D Backs 3-0, Baumgartner has a non non and, hits 2 home runs. D-Bacls cme to tie it. Giants take 4-3 lead, D Backs come back to tie. Giants take 5-4 lead. Bottom of the 9th no one on. A single a double and 2 more singles. D Backs win 6-5. There may or moay ot be better game all year!
  12. We saw history today. Baumgardner became the first pitcher in baseball history to hit two home runs in the same game ON OPENING DAY! What do you think of that, baseball fans?
  13. Opening day, 2017. Baumardner brilliant! He has a no-no I think. Tanaka was lousy from start to finish. How can the Yankees perform without an ace!

If they hadn't done it before, they finally found the bottom of the barrel with SC6!
  15. Opening day. Tanaka stinks. One less Al contender to worry about/ Only kidding but w/o him they are in deep doo-doo.
  16. I called Comcast yesterday and signed up for the full deal at $38 a month for 4 months. I will still have to watch the Sox-Rays on the Tampa channel, but there's always the option of turning off the sound. There's no way these old eyes could have stood up in the Dell.

Anyone with Comcast can get the full deal for ExtraInnings has to make the call 1-877-821-7268. $38/mo. for 4 months. Takes about 30 seconds. Unfortunately I have to watch the Sox-Rays on the Tampa Bay station (I'm in their area) and listen to the two worst announcers in baseball. But what we get in 2017 is a lot different from what we got 1947!

Is it because I'm "getting" old? Or has ESPN sunk beyond the point of no return? Has Wilbon ever gone an entire broadcast without mentioning Michael Jordan? Interruption should not be bursting in when you have nothing to say. I turn the shown when I'm really bored, but seldom last an entire segment that runs from commercial to commercial. Am I alone on this? I feel the SC6 crap is for 10 year olds and idiots. Maybe it's just me?
  19. The Sox bit the bullet today and sent Swihart to AAA. Both are at fault. Swhart for insisting (if the rumors are true) on being a catcher, when it is obviuos he is not a catcher. I had heard nothing bad about him this spring, but I am told he really hasn't improved. It is the teams' fault for not let him develop as a first baseman or left fielder. He is, I have been told, the most athletic member of the squad, He hits (LH & RH) runs the bases very well. In other words, a top offensive player. The chances he will come back about 20 minutes after one of the two left-overs are hurt. I don't like Leon's OR Vazquez's offense. Both were terrible for the entire month of September., and they haven't shown to be any different this year. W'll see, but it is a messy situation.
  20. He caught Wright the other day. Since Wright didn't give up any runs I assume Swihat didn't either. That may have "the finals"
  21. To those who think spring training performances, think again. Look at our three catchers this year; Leon has 25 AB, 6 hits, a BA of .231 and an OPS of .490 Vazques comes up with the same ABs, Hits, & Average, but an OPS of ..555 Swihart gas had 40AB, 13 hits, a .325 BA and an OPS of . .786 And who going to be the starting catcher? Leon? Vazquez? I don't think so!
  22. Watching Pablo for the first time since last year. Can't believe the difference. Swing, belly, everything. He's even taking good swings from the right side. Good news, indeed!
  23. Swihart will be in AAA? Surely, you jest!
  24. Swihart caught Wright today (3/23) otherwise you were right on. Swihart has won the job hands down. No competition whatsoever. He even came up with a -24 double play. No PB? Amazing. I think he'll eventually move up in the lineup, but that remains to be seen. Being a SH, he can fit in most places. Bradley's inconsistency makes him ideal for the 9 spot.
