  1. 5 seasons, 412 games, BA .234, 137 BB, 379 K. He is flashy in the field, but his erratic throws are as common as his smooth catches. I can not see him back in this lineup---ever. It's s situation made worse because his trade value is at a rock bottom level. Almost embarrassing.
  2. Did I hear right? Near the end of the game our announcers had a short conversation re/JBJ returning to the lineup tomorrow!!! They weren't kidding. One guy comes in as a pich hitter, gets 2prun double, next day hits two homwers, and the other guyisn't hitting his weight! Is there a decision to be made here, or has it already been made---by the two guys in question?
  3. I would say that having Young in the lineup and JBJ on the bench made one helluva difference.
  4. I don't think it would take as much $ as we might imagine. I can't possibly see him coming as anything but top dog (manager). To come in as a coach would mean more turmoil than they already have. He would have far more respect from the players than his boss has? No way. It would have to be all or stay home. He's far to smart to take anything less.
  5. David Ortiz should be brought out of retirement to mange this ball club. He would never sonsent to an "advisor" position. It would be undermining JF, and that would only make things worse. No, his eturn to, and prescence, in that clubhouse would bethe stroke that got this ship back on course.
  6. Putting JBJ on the bench is a good start. Putting Betts back at leadoff does'nt do much unless he stops taking first pitches that are the best he will se the entire at bat. The very best move would be to get Ortiz back on the bench and in the clubhouse. That could happen only one way. It would cause a real rukus if he came in as "advisor" or some such crap. Farrell would be totally undermined. I doubt very much if Papi would accept that kind of situation. No. the only choice would be to make him the Manager. Bottom Line: This "shake-up" is a mini-start, but at this point, until we get a 3rd baseman and a manager, it will stay just a start.. Amonth from now, there's be a complete 4-man(at least) starting rotation. Sale, Purcello, Price and Rodriquez could be something else!
  7. I'll be happy if he stops taking strike one pitches right down the chute.
  8. JBJ can't hit. Who waits for a guy to get "streaky". That's crazy. And is far from the best defensive outfit in baseball. He is smooth. He gets a good jump on the ball, then tthrows it to the wrong base---off line/ No, his defense is very much over rated. Watch the guy from the Rays, for example. As under rated as JBJ is over rated. Spectacular plays, yes. Of any value a this time. No. Before the season gegan I lobbied (daily) for the Sox to get rid of him. My thought was to bring back Swihart as the left fielder. Put Benni in center. Swiahart has, I think, given up. The last time I looked, he was hitting about .200. So I was right and I was wrong. Par for the course.
  9. No, because nobody else can. BTW Mel Ott was 17 when he hit the majors---AND STAYED THERE---BIG TIME!
  10. I have been saying for weeks that David Ortiz should be managing this club. Noone has taken that seriously, and I don't know why. Farrell is a waste. He has yet to discover that JBJ can't hit. Most of the hans have known that for two years (even with a spurt or two). The fact remains he is a .170 hitter, and does not belong in CF for the Red Sox.ive the 3rd outfield job to Young, and trade JBJ (who to, I can't say). One other thing: is Farrell afraid to run? Afraid the guy will thrown out and the next guy hits a HR? These guys would play their balls off for Big Papi. Ny God, even his little critiques might turn this pathetic offense around.
  11. I hope that's the last we see of Taylor, and I do mean LAST. I'll remember him as the guy who threw a pitch every five minutes with nothing on it. Maybe Price will be ready before they expected.
  12. They miss Ortiz at the plate. Te're also miss having a real manager.
  13. Has JF ever heard of a Stolen Base? Hit-and-Run?, Sacrifice? Rub-and-Hit? He's seen his guys hinto a million double plays this year, and the season has barely started!!Go, Johm, Go! (please)
  14. Anybody paying attention to how well they're playing? Looks to me like it may be coming down to a 4-1 scenario pretty soon. I would be happy if Vazquez caught every game!
  15. Wright may be OK for 2-3 inning stints (middle innings) out of the pen. He makes a good chang-of-oace once in awhile. But, coninue as a starter? No way!
  16. 80 degrees up there? Well, since we're a warm weather team, we win 7-2.
  17. Well, he makes a super catch once in awhile, and leads the post-game victory dance! And in comparison to Leon and Sandoval, he's a super star. Of the 15 players listed in the stats columns reveal that only 6 are hitting better than .250. But, .226 is rediculous.
  18. 4 lefty bats + Leon Leon is 9 for 47 Vazquez is 11 for 23 c'mon, man! Does anyone think this is a small sample? An anamoly? An accident? You haven't been paying attention!
  19. Platoon Pablo with whom? Holt, Hernandez, Hanley? I wish Hanley could do something besides DH. Before the year is over, I can see him platooning with Moreland. That doesn't help 1B. The hernandez situation may solve itself what with Pedroia getting hurt more and more. He's wearing down. We don't want him to, but he is. That settles in Hernandez. I would be tickled to death if they stuck Ramiriz and Pablo in a package, and sent them to the Yankees!
  20. Williams, Doerr, Foxx, Grove, Dom DiMaggio, Evans, Ortiz, were not dirt dogs. I think the word were looking for is "professional"
  21. I hope you're wrong, too. But every AB seems to be a pop-up, or a DP ground ball. I m sure hat both Hanley and Mookie are upper-cutting. Hernandez, Vazquez and Bogaerts are the only ones simply trying to make contact. Hanley's going to hut hims one of these days.
  22. I haven't seen this many upper-cuts since Ali was going strong. Count the pop-ups. Even Mookie. (No David Ortiz around tostraighten them out.
  23. I hope that's Wright's last start. Maybe go to the bullpen, mop-up/change-of-pace work. But no more battimg ptactice pitching. Please!
  24. r rockets in a row. Isn't that enough? One more batter while somebody gets ready.
  25. Hernandez has had only 79 major leagues ABm but his avg there is .291. His 2017 stats ar 28 AB, .286. Not bad! More importantly is his demeanor at hte plate. Aggressive enough, looks the pitches over pretty good. 3 for 10 against lefties. He didn't do it by making stupid swings and mistakes, (think Moncada)
