  1. Yoshida’s 5-year, $90 million contract includes a clause that requires his approval to be sent to the minor leagues. While he can be placed on a rehab assignment (such as after his 2024/2025 injury), these are limited to 20 days for position players. After that period, the team cannot legally option him to Triple-A without his consent.
  2. Damn CHEAP! $41M Gray (STL paid $20M) $28.3M AAV x 6 Crochet (extension kicks in this season) $26M AAV x 5 Suarez $18M x 2 Contreras ($4M x paid by STL) $13M x 2 Chapman (extension) $16.3M x8 Anthony (extension) $7.5M x 8 K Campbell (extension) $6M Kiner-Falefa When are we going to get an owner that is NOT CHEAP?!?!?
  3. Why wait? We need a 2Bman, now. We know we need one. We will need one later, if we don't get one now. Do we trust Brez to overpay at the deadline?
  4. I think MVP found something that states he can refuse a demotion.
  5. IKF and IDK might have the front-runner slot.
  6. That was the rumor, along with hitting on others' wives. 9 teams in 15 years for a plus defensive SS who hit pretty well. Hmmmm...
  7. We have so many with varying degrees of promise that it would go against the odds to think hardly any will trun out to be good, very good or even great. Tolle, Early & Witherspoon Valera, Phillips, & Eyanson Bennett, Uberstine & Dorhan Holobetz, Mullins Samaniego & Watson Delzine, Carson & Ziehl (debuted at #30 on SP.com)
  8. Tsung-Che Cheng claimed off waivers has a 40 man slot.
  9. You and I might be okay with Masa in AAA, but it's up to Masa. He can refuse an option to the minors.
  10. Sox claimed infielder Tsung-Che Cheng. Now we need to clear a slot on the 40 for IFK. 2B by committee.
  11. True, but it's been 9 seasons with nobody starting over 95 games at 2B.
  12. It's not about Romy as a PH'er, to me, it's about DHam getting any ABs, even vs RHPs. vs RHPs Romy .718 in '25 (.616 career) DHam .618 in '25 (.642 career)
  13. Like I'm going to stop it from "playing out" by giving my opinions?
  14. I'd rather have Romy FT at 2B than platooning with DHam.
  15. I forgot Story played over 81 games that year- my bad. He was to be the FT 2Bman, if he didn't get hurt, so yes it was not a planned 2B by committee season. Some other seasons, I think we went in with management thinking we had someone they wanted to play FT, but they failed or got hurt and we ended up with a mix. (Like Nunez in 2019. maybe even Arauz, Arroyo and Campbell.
  16. Yes. I have said, if it's Abreu, it's "sideways." If we trade from pitching depth (or Bello) I'll make the grade a plus (above C+)
  17. Why do you worry about what I worry about? 🤪
  18. Why do you call it "worry?" I look at our roster and try to figure out who is likely to play the most and at what positions. It's fun for me. I don't think it comes close to "worry." I happen to think Duran is the worst defensive OF'er of the 4 we have, and he's a better hitter than Masa. Both he and Masa are LHBs, so I slot Duran at DH over Masa. No worry- just seeing what I think is the best layout. The idea of Rafaela at 2B is intriguing, but I would not do that to a GG OF'er just so our $18M man can DH near FT. Again, it's not something I worry about.
  19. I wouldn't even trade Duran or Abreu for 4 years of Shaw. (maybe Duran, if they add another peice.)
  20. 5 years ago, we had no 2Bman start more than 43 games at 2B. 6 guys had 9+ GS. 6 years ago was the covid shortened season, and 5 guys started at 2B. Peraza had 24 of 60 GS's. In 2019, Holt started 60 of 162, Chavis 40, Marco 29 and Nunez 21 (4 others started 16) In 2018, we traded for Kinsler, Nunez started 70 games, Holt 49 & Kinsler 37 2017 was the last time someone started over 81 games at 2B. That's a pretty low bar, too. (Pedey started 97.) It's basically been 2B by committee since Pedey in 2017. This is year 9.
  21. They'd have to really like Phillips, which could be possible.
  22. Yup, but who is better at DH? Duran or Masa? If Duran plays OF, what OF sits? (Please don't say Rafaela at 2B.)
  23. Sad, but looks true: MLBTR writes: Boston is seemingly taking a volume approach to second base...
  24. BTV accepts Sandoval, DHam & Phillips for Hoerner. The 1 year of Sandoval helps balance the money Hoerner gets paid. Giving up Phillips might bite us in the ass, later, but Hoerner is the real deal.
