I'm not sure why full season matters more than last 2-3 seasons, especially when PAs may vary wildly from one player to another. I mean, I get why, but full season is cherry-picked, too.

3B is no longer the slugging position it once was. If Durbin can play near GG defense at 3B and hit over .750, he'll be okay, as long as we add two big bats somewhere else (DH? SS/2B? C?) 3B still slugs more than 2B & SS but not by a lot. SLG in MLB by position '24>'25>'26 .393>.397>.386 3B .411>.404>.390 SS .374>.371>.386 2B (same as 3B, this year!)

Mayer is already a plus defender. He's missed a lot of development time due to injuries, so a longer leash on the bat makes sense. I hope he can get to .750+ on a consistent basis, and maybe even near .800. I suppose he could do even better, and that would be gravy.

Maybe having a set rotation for the next 5 years. Of course, having and needing SP'er depth should always be a concern and priority. For 2027, our SP'er depth might not need any additions, but that is relying on returning IL pitchers. The plan? Crochet replaces Gray Houck, Crawford & Oviedo Bello to pen? Eyanson, Holobetz, Uberstine, Wehunt, Paez, Rivera, Anderson (AA in 2027? Witherspoon, Phillips, Brown, Futrell, Ingrassia) Is that enough? On the everyday side of the ledger, some serious work and re-working needs to be done, and the interesting thing is that only IKF is not under team control for 2027. Some major decisions need to be made that include moving on from some players, either by trading them or demoting them to the bench or AAA depth. DFA'ing Yoshida may also be an option. Dumping Story could be another. Trading Duran will be the hot issue, once again, if he's not dealt at this deadline. I agree on Arias, but it's hard to know without seeing him play. I am certain an Arias-Mayer keystone combo would be better on D than one with Story. (I'm okay with Story's D at 2B, but I don't see him as an overall plus going forward.)

0.7 in his last 40 games. 0.8 in last 28 games. 1.0 last 22 games. It's interesting how using chosen sample sizes can make a difference. (We all do it. I'm not casting stones, here.)

I'm glad Brez bungled the Breggie negotiations. It doesn't change the fact that he is a bungler, but I'm glad we have Suarez, Durbin and Contreras over Breggie & Alonso. They are cheaper and better.

3 runs probably score, anyway, yes, but he still botched the play. That symbolized how he plays, to be. Too many base-running and defensive botches. Inconsistent batting. Saying inappropriate things to fans. Not making the trip to Toronto during COVID. It all adds up for me. I don't hate him. IMO, we had 4 OF'ers with Yoshida as depth. We should have traded him when his value was higher. I wasn't for just handing him away. My suggested trade offers were for real talent in return, not like others who said "Trade him for prospects."

I'm so done with Duran. It's a shame we didn't trade him at his peak, or shortly afterwards. That game-ending play, last night seemed to symbolize who he is.

With Crochet on the IL, not to mention Houck, Crawford, Sandoval & Oviedo, our 5 starters are all under 3.71. What a waste of a pretty awesome rotation. Is a .633 OPS good, bad or awful? That's what batters are hitting against Whitlock, this year. It was .543, last year! .615 in a limited season in '24, and he sucked in '23 (.823.) .639 in 2022 His first year, he was at .631 in 2021 is about the same as this year. He had two better seasons than his first- by this measure. That being said, I'd keep him as our #2.

Exactly, and to see them play this much with so few injuries to everyday players is the real eye-opener. Anthony has been out all year, but we had 4 OF'ers and Yoshida to help at DH. Romy being hurt did not help, but he was not really a lock at any FT position. IDK just got hurt, but he was the utility guy. Story's injury cleared some room for these guys to play. Gasper is playing because Narvaez has sucked, and Wong might be traded soon.
