  1. The highest contracts given out by JH since 2019's Sale. Bogey & Nate extensions: $313M/10 Devers (extension) $140M/6 Story $90M/5 Yoshida (plus $10M fee) $39M/2 Giolito $36M/2 Jansen
  2. Yes, the dropped catch by Smith sucked, and forced Crawford to throw more pitches and face more batters. The two homers by Schwarber were not on the D, and we'd probably have lost, even without the error. Our O needs to show up to improve our odds.
  3. Wonder if we put him in AA or where? I think he is still kinda rehabbing.
  4. You know how ex-Sox players seem to come back and bite us in the ass- like Schwarber, last night? How about Pivetta biting the Phillies ass, tonight?
  5. Schwarber signed in '22, when we still had JD. Yoshida signed in '23, before we knew Duran was Duran. Now, had we traded JD, and maybe ate some of his salary, signing Schwarber would look better. I wish we had him, now, over Yoshida, but I don't think the comp matches up so smoothly.
  6. The fans are no better than the players, coaches, managers and owners, especially with all these lofty and unreasonable expectations.
  7. I think the idea is that Anthony is up in 2025. (I would not trade Abreu for Bichette. We all know there will be a tight budget, again, so $18M on Abreu means that much less spent on pitching. Also, are we so sure he'd be that big RHB we need?
  8. I think the Jays would take 4 years of Abreu for 1 of Bichette and save millions of dollars in 2025.
  9. RIP Jerry West- a true great one.
  10. It's more about the $18M than anything else, but I would not give Abreu for Bichetts plus $8M, either. It's just 1 year of Bichette vs 4 more of Abreu. If we don't spend more in '25, it could be another wasted year, so why add a 1 year guy?
  11. ,744 from June 29, 2023 to the end of the season. .635 this season. .687 in his last 513 PAs I'm not convinced a turnaround is all that possible. DHam for Bichette plus $10M, yes. We aren't adding $18M for Bichette.
  12. I think the idea is that some have given up on Grissom at 2B, and Bichette would play there, if and when Story returns.
  13. The choice made to make the AS game, also does not really mean he was the best player on his team, those years. He was not. It often comes down to position of least overload.
  14. Bets, yes. Bogey, I'm not so sure. 2017-2022 .855 OPS (126 OPS+) Per 162 gms: .295 24 95 2023-2024: .741 OPS (107 OPS+) .270 18 58 Is this worth $225M/5, let alone what he ended up getting? .811 OPS (124 OPS+) .296 17 66
  15. Agreed, unless we get a better pitcher (in a package deal) with equal years of control.
  16. Not at that money.
  17. Bichette makes $18M, next year. Even if he was worth that, JH ain't paying it. I would not trade DHam for Bichett, and certainly not Abreu. Both is a joke. It would be Brez who hangs up the phone.
  18. The Phillies may be shopping for a catcher, since Realmutto needs surgery. Thier 5th starter sucks (Walker) and they might want a closer. What could we get from them for Pivetta (reunites w PHI), McGuire and Jansen?
  19. ...and the anger was more about him not selling. I'm pretty sure we will be sellers, even if we are within 3-5 games of the WC slots.
  20. Agreed. Except for Wikelman, many of our top prospects and a few of the farther away ones have done pretty good to great, so far. It seems like there are now more than just 3 to have high hopes on, and the big three have done nothing to lower their stock, so far. The Big 3 .856 Roman Anthony .855 Marcelo Mayer .853 Kyle Teel (Amazing how they all have almost exactly the same OPS) The Rising 3 .996 Kristian Campbell (This kid looks for real!) .929 Jhostynxon Garcia (Maybe the biggest surprise) .726 Bleis (staying healthy: promoted to A+) The Welcome Back 3 1.110 Matthew Lugo (was pretty highly rated, once before) .966 Niko Kavadas (maybe belongs in the Career AAA category) .754 Nick Yorke (came alive in AAA SSS at 1.246) The Still Far Away but Looking Good 3 1.063 Johanfran Garcia (SSS due to IL) 1.009 Yoelin Cespedes (Getting attention) .786 Frankin Arias (FCL) Have to work on some things/Career AAA 3 .892 Mickey Gaspar .867 Nick Sogard .801 Chase Meidroth The Pitchers: May Graduate Soon/Recent Graduate 3 (OPS Against) .553 at MLB level Justin Slaten .288 Zach Kelly (.539 in MLB in 84 PAs Against) .374 Cam Booser (.667 in MLB w 101 PAs Against) The Near MLB Ready 3 .671 Richard Fitts .710 Luis Guerrero .536 Bailey Horn The Surprising 4 .593 Zach Penrod .631 Perales (promoted to AA, but on IL) .642 Hunter Dobbins (AA) .695 Hayden Mullins (A+) The Far Away 3 .354 Ovis Portes (promoted to SAL) .514 Juan Valera (FCL) .668 Connelly Early (A+) The More Highly Ranked 6 .611 Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz #16 (A-) .771 David Sandlin #9 (A+) .755 Wikelman Gonzalez #15 (AA and lost) .809 Yordanny Monegro #20 (A+) .685 Angel Bastardo #28 (AA) .634 Ryan Zeferjahn #30 (AAA) Not So Sure About 8 .534 Jonathan Brand (promoted to AA) .551 Blake Wehunt (promoted to A+) .572 Helcris Olivarez (AA) .582 Danny Kirwin (A-) .600 Jojo Ingrassia (A-) .676 Matt Duffy (A-) .682 Jedixson Paez (promoted to A+) .717 I Coffey (AA) The Meh 5 .731 Grant Gambrel .744 Jason Alexander (IL) #40 Bryan Mata #46 Brandon Walter .769 #47 Dalton Rogers
  21. The pitching is way better.
  22. Smith or Dalbec, when Casas returns, but maybe Keller, Horn or Mata. I think we see I Campbell called up, real soon: Keller or Kelly demoted.
  23. I mistakenly looked at 92 not 93
  24. 2 years in a row, on a team that had Boggs, Clemens, Mo Vaughn and a couple others.
  25. We should have traded Boget, JD, Nate, Wacha, Duval, Hill and anything and everything not tied down.
