I can't see him doing both lanes, unless the "buy" is someone signed beyond 2024. Even with Casas and everyone else staying healthy, I just don't see this team going far, if we happen to make the playoffs. I think he can get something of value for Pivetta and Jansen, and if Martin and O'Neill look good in July, maybe something for them, too. I'm not sure get prospects or players that will help in 2025, but getting something is better than what we ended up getting (nothing) for too many departing players over the last 2 years.

Amazingly, we are just 1.5 from the WC, and nobody is between us. Of course, we are also 1.5 games from being 11th in the AL, too. We seem destined to end up at .500.

Before today, he did have 10 BBs in 25 IP, but only 10 hits (no Hrs, just 1 2B and 1 3B) makes it no so lucky. He had a 0.800 WHIP and a .404 OPSA!

I guess they thought giving all the SP'ers an extra days rest was worth the trade-off. The pen gets the day off, too, so all one IP guys will be available on Tuesday. I'm not defending the choice, but it does make some sense, when you look at 3 of our SP'ers with an ERA over 6, the last 4 weeks.

Pivetta and Jansen. O'Neill and Martin need to comeback and play well to have some trade value. McGuire and Anderson have little to some value.

Even if we are buyers, none of these names are even close to a target I'd want. Also, OF, 3B, 1B and DH are not our high need areas, even as jsut rentals. We need SP'ers and middle IF'ers. More likely, we sell.

I'd move Yoshida down a bit and add Ref around #6. I'm not on the "sell wagon" just yet, but if we are 5 games over .500 (yea, right!) or under at the deadline, I'd trade all 4 FAs to be and think about trading McGuire, too (1 year left.)

I don't think the idea was ever to spend as little as TB, but to try and do some of the things they do to keep the budget lower than it got to be under Theo, Ben & DD. It is not something new with JH. I tried to get Billy Bean, as we all know. We really need to have a big signing go right, for once. It's been a long time. (JD?)

True. Maybe after July from the pen, but I doubt much. I don't think Henriks and Fulmer = Jansen and Martin, so I do think we add a pitcher of two. To me, 2 SPers would be min. 2 SP'ers and a SP/RP would be better.

Sorry, Ted, but let Ref go? Just because he isn't signed into 2026? I'm fine with trading O'Neill and starting Rafaela at SS to make room for Anthony, but trading Ref makes no sense on a team dying for RHBs. Don't be so harsh on McGuire, either. Our staff's success has been helped by his work with them. 2.41 ERA w McGuire 4.18 ERA w Wong While his .604 OPS has hurt, he has been rather productive with his few hits. His 14 RBI in just 110 PAs ranks him higher than Wong and many other Sox players like Duran, O'Neill, Ref in RBI per PA. I'm okay with giving the kids a shot, when ready, and most of the big 3 are very close to ready, IMO. I do want us to maximize their years of control, too, and not waste one on 2024. That is a factor to consider, too. I'd be okay trading McGuire, Valdez and O'Neill to make room for the big 3, but only if they are truly ready and we don't lose a year of control.

He doesn't stink, but he did drop in the recent sp's rankings despite a couple players graduating from the ranks. He has got off to a nice start in AAA- a four game sample size at 1.009. He was once ranked 5th in our system, dropped to 11th in Spring, and now is 17th- behind Paulino, Castro and Wikelman.

One of those 3 was in a 144 game season. That team was on pace for 90.2 wins.
