  1. GRE pitched a no hitter! (A BB and RE away from a perfect game) Monegro 5 IP 0BB- 6K Adams 3IP 0 BB -2K Stebens 1IP 1BB-0K Castro homered and Jh garcia 1-3 w HBP Salem's pen got shelled, but Kirwin did ok in his start: 5IP, 6H, 2ER, 2BB, 6K Brannon homered
  2. On the farm, today: Make-up game AAA Grissom, Hickey & Meidroth homered. (Meidroth walked once, too.) Valdez & Casas 1-3 Penrod let up 6 ERs and got the loss. He sure fizzled out. Woo won game two 9-8 EValdez 5 for 5! Gasper 2-3 w 2B & 2BB Westbrook 2-4 2 BB Hickey 1-2 w 2 BB POR won 6-5 in 10 Sykes 3-4 Ehrhard 3-4 w two 2Bs Anthony 1-4 No Teel or Mayer (7day IL) Early struggled (3 ER in 4.2)
  3. There was really just one poster who kept harping on the "wasted pick" Yorke was. I do think others lost faith or hope he'd come through, after some meh numbers he put up, until the recent AAA promotion. I'm not sure many gave up on him, but some felt he was likely going to be best utilized as a LF'er, and we are loaded there, and look to be even more loaded in the OF, in the next 2-4 years. If he ends up being a MLB 2Bman, I won't be shocked, but I think he might be better suited for LF. While 2B has been the team's weakest spot since 2019, we do have a bunch of players and prospects that have close to, equal or more promise at 2B than Yorke does. Many of us have spoken of our need to trade everyday players and prospects for pitching, since we mostly draft everyday players and develop them better than we do pitchers. This was an attempt to do that. I respect the attempt. Time will tell on the results.
  4. I'm a big Abreu fan, and there are no trades until winter. I'm not sure when they think Anthony gets "the call," but when he does, Abreu will be squeezed (or Anthony, I suppose.) Duran is FT LF or CF. (I might be okay in RF.) Rafaela should be our FT CF'er. That leaves RF for Abreu & Ref, assuming O'Neill or the like are not on the '25 roster. Campbell might off the RHB we need for LF, so that would squeeze Duran to CF (or RF) and Rafaela to RF or the bench, if Anthony/Abreu and Ref fight over CF and back up OF roles. Yoshida as the FT DH takes away a landing spot for the "left out" OF"er. We don't have an issues, now, as long as Rafaela stay at SS.
  5. Just 1 hit and 3 BB!
  6. Probably not, but more chance there thanSS.
  7. I've listed them several times, and Yorke was playing more LF than 2B, anyway, once promoted to AAA. Here it is, again: Story or Mayer DHam Grissom Romy Westbrook and Sogard were both called up over him. EVladez hass till played more games at 2B than anyone else in 2024. Campbell Meidroth Riemer Soon to be: Romero, Cespedes, Zanetello, Arias This is not to say all the guys are better or closer to ML ready, but we are deep in quantity over quality at 2B, and Yorke did not stand out any more than many on this list.
  8. Sox rankings by Month: wRC+ 12 April 102 22 May 95 6 June 120 (13th best wRC+ on June 30th) 3 July 128 Defense (fangraphs) 25 April -9.5 25 May -8.0 26 June -8.5 (26th best D on June 30th) 28 July -8.9 SP (fWAR) 2 April 4.5 (better than any other 2 months combined!) 15 May 2.1 17 June 1.5 (9th best rotation on June 30th) 12 July 1.7 RP 7 April 1.1 2 May 1.7 7 June 1.3 (3rd best pen up to June 30th! 29 July -1.1
  9. And Crane was later caught lying about knowing nothing about it.
  10. Might it have meant there is just too much competition at LF/2B? If it was about the "not hacking BOS," I agree that is and always has been BS.
  11. Hinch knew it was going on and did not stop it. He was the manager. At worst, he'd tied for most responsible with anyone else. If Hinch said stop, it stops.
  12. File it under you misunderstood his post. Randy did NOT say Yorke would not make it in the bigs: he said "with the Sox."
  13. Was it an "overpay?" That was the question.
  14. What I liked most about Fedde was his team control though 2025 at just $7.5M. (To b e fair, Edam was under control through 2025, too, so O'Neill was not really a good comp.)
  15. Career splits: vs RHP: .799 Yoshida .783 Valdez vs LHPs .790 Refsnyder (.910, last 3 years combined) .697 Yoshida This will be my last post about Yoshida vs Vadlez/Ref at DH. Yoshida kis our DH for many more years. He is looking better, this year.
  16. LOL. QuickQ: which poster had the most posts about Yoshida, last year?
  17. I agree 100%. I liked the trade and hope we look to do more like it.
  18. I can see why we kept Heineman on the 40 and Gasper as further non 40 depth. That's what team's do. We might get another Heineman, next year and keep gasper where he is. If they think Teel will be ML ready by opening day, they won't add him to the 40 until the day before he will be promoted, as they should,
  19. Was the price even mildly high on Fedde?
  20. They ended Yoshida's "nonsense" in LF, too. Valdez would be a fine DH vs RHPs, which is about 400 PAs a year, with some PH'ing mixed in. He should never play 2B or LF, so that lessens his value to us and to a potential trade partner, but Yoshida is a DH only player, too. Yoshida hits LHP'er way better than Valdez, but not as well as Refsnyder. To me, haveing a Valdez-Refnsyder DH platoon would be as good or better than Yoshida, on paper, but they take up 2 slots on the 26. That does not make much difference as Ref would still be the 4th or 5th OF'er, as he is now, and Valdez would only DH, like Yoshida does, now. Anyway, we aren't trading Yoshida, so this is all moot. We should trade Valdez for the best we can get, no matter how little that might be. He is wasting a 40 man roster slot on our DH-only team. Other teams don't have a Yoshida and might want him.
  21. You always crack me up. Never change!
  22. Randy actually did not say he won't "cut it in the Major leagues," so again, STORK is never factually correct. He said he won't cut it with the Sox, which may or may not have been about several players being ahead of Yorke on the LF and 2B lists: LF: Duran Abreu (if Anthony goes to RF & Rafaela to CF FT) Refsnyder Campbell E Valdez (Distantly: Jh Garcia, Bleis, Montgomery, Cespedes or Zanetello...) 2B Story or Mayer (whoever does not play SS) DHam-Grissom platoon Romy Campbell EValdez Meidroth Sogard/Westbrook (Distantly: maybe Cespedes or Zanetello, Romero, Riemer, Arias)
  23. Indeed, and I did not mention anything given up, unless it was a 2024 player in return.
  24. HOU scored 3 unearned runs to beat PIT 5-4. YUCK! Sox are still 2 down from KCR & MIN. -6.5 from NYY -7.0 from BAL upcoming series: BAL @ CLE (4 games) KCR @ DET (4) TOR @ NYY (3) BOS @ TEX (3) TBR @ HOU (3) CWS @ MIN (3) Then... HOU @ TEX MIN @ CHC BOS @ KCR LAA @ NYY BAL @ TOR
  25. Agreed, which means Anthony and Campbell do not start the season in MLB. If Anthony joins the OF, we'll be too LHBish. I hope Mayer is ready to play SS to start 2025, but who know? A DHam-Grissom combo at 2B might be okay, but we'd need 145+ games from Story for that to work. I'm not sure Campbell will play 2B for the Sox, but can he be worse than EValdez on D? Romy is nice depth.
