  1. Yes, he is normally rested vs LHPs, but not platooned. So, who sits when Yoshida DHs vs LH SP'ers?
  2. Agreed, but can you answer? If Masas is the 2015 FT DH, who sits vs LHPs and RHPs: Duran Abreu (easy sit v L) Rafaela Ref (easy sit v R) Anthony (assuming all 5 are on the 26.) 4 for 3 slots.
  3. He's okay in LF, but I agree a DH platoon makes more sense.
  4. DH'ing Ref solves that issue, but Cora seems resistant to platooning Yoshida. Without Ref at DH, who sits, then?
  5. Through the ups and downs, the Sox have held pretty steadily around the 10th best record mark for a while, now. Right now, we are tied with the mighty Braves for 9th best. In the loss column, we are tied with KCR for 8th. 2 behind MIL for 7th, 3 behind MIN for 6th, 4 behind LAD for 5th and just 5 losses behindBAL, NYY & PHI for second in MLB! Granted, 5 more losses puts us tied for 18th w STL and not much farther from #20.
  6. I'm really liking both brothers, more and more. I'm loving how so many other prospects in A ball or below are showing major promise. It's a long list. The Arias jump was deserved, and he still needs to prove he can keep doing well, as they promote him, but here is a look at our top prospects, not counting draftees in the lowe rminors, right now: 6 Bleis 8 Arias 7 Cespedes 12 Castro 13 Zanetello 16 E Rod 17 Jo Garcia 18 Romero 19 Jh Garcia 25 Monegro 27 Valera 28 Paez 29 Mullins D Reyes, Dean, Wehunt, Gonzales, Brannon, Anderson, Riemer, Carlson, Ingrassia, Mussett, Rogers...
  7. My guess is, we go with the dreaded "pen game."
  8. Somebody sits, unless Rafaela plays SS (bad idea as a pre-season plan.) My point has been about the obvious overload we will have in the OF, next year, even with not replacing O'Neill! No way, I sit Ref vs LHPs. He is a top 25 batter vs lefties in all of MLB over the last 3 seasons, combined, and he doesn't seem to be slowing down. Duran needs to play FT. I believe Rafaela should be our FT CF'er. Abreu needs to play vs every RHB. How Anthony fits in is an issue. We might see Campbell (RHB) and Jh Garcia, sooner than we think, as well.
  9. Jo Garcia did get off to a great start, before his injury, but the sample size was small. 1.063 OPS in 53 ABs.
  10. Bello vs Seth Lugo RHP (Cy Young Award candidate) Keep it going! Go SOX!
  11. We are tied with KCR in the loss column. (They have 3 more wins.)
  12. Agreed. It's hard to play Duran, Anthony and have an Abreu-Ref platoon, while playing Rafaela in CF FT. I keep coming back to the idea of a trade of Anthony or Abreu.
  13. Great win, despite some mistakes on D and the basepaths. Gotta win these games vs our closest competition. Paxton got the job done. Kudos.
  14. We may be getting Slaten, then Martin & Hendriks, too.
  15. I doubt we ever platoon Rafaela or plan on him playing much SS, going forward, but this could be one way we handle 2025: v LHP LF: Ref R CF: Duran L RF: Rafaela R v RHP LF: Abreu L CF: Duran L RF: Anthony L (Rafaela at SS or 2B vs some or most RHPs, of mostly a platoon?)
  16. Being ranked in the top 60 by soxprospects,com does not guarantee greatness, but here is a look at just the pitchers on the farm and their rankings: 7. Perales AA (just has TJS) 10. Sandlin AA 14. Tolle draftee 15. Fitts AAA 16. E. Rodriguez A+ 20. Dobbins AA 21. Wikelman AA 22. Penrod AAA 23. Carson draftee (also a SS) 24. Early AA 25. Monegro A+ 27. Valera A- 28. Paez A+ 29. Mullins A+ 30. Neely draftee 32. Guerrero AAA 33. Wehunt A+ 34. D Reyes DSL 35. Bastardo AA 36. Dean A+ 38. Horn MLB 39. Gambrell AAA 44. Clarke draftee 45. Tygart draftee 47. Mata MLB/rehab 49. Carlson A- 50. Ingrassia A- 52. Hoppe AA 56. Drohan AAA 58. Rogers A+ 60. Duffy A- Only 2 of top 13 (7th &n 10th and 2/13) 9 pitchers from 14 to 25 (9/12) 20 pitchers ranked between 26-60 (20/35) 31 out of 60
  17. We seems to have a lot of pitchers joining the rankings, although the vast majority are ranked below 13th.
  18. I thought there was a chance, he'd pass his brother in the rankings, but they did jump him up quite a bit.
  19. We needed to rest some of these starters a few weeks ago. I hope it is not too late, but is there even a plan to do it? (Pen games?) We also have the make-up game with TOR coming up (5 games in 4 days.)
  20. Paxton vs Singer (a RHP) 1. L Duran LF 2. L Abreu RF 3. L Yoshida DH 4. L Devers 3B 5. R Wong C 6. L Smith 1B 7. S Sogard 2B 8. L DHam SS 9. R Rafaela CF Big game. Go SOX!
  21. Is anyone surprised none of the big 3 have been promoted to AAA, yet?
  22. Agreed, and IMO, Rafaela is so good in CF, I'd move Anthony to RF, even if he was a plus CF'er. (There may be times we want to "rest" Rafaela vs a tough RHPs and go with Anthony in CF and Abreu in RF.) I do think Anthony is a better CF'er than Abreu. If Rafaela is sitting, do you put Anthony or Duran in CF, and Abreu or Anthony in RF or LF?
  23. You may be right... soxprospects.com... Defense: Red Sox believe he can stick in center field long-term, but others believe he ends up in a corner. Strong defensive instincts. Has played a strong center field so far, showing good reads off the bat and nice paths to the ball. Makes plays that a lot of center fielders cannot make. Ability to stay in center will depend on whether he can retain his athleticism as he matures. Potential above-average defensive profile.
  24. For sure, but the GM can't spend what they don't give him, and the GM has spent most of the budget on everyday players (Devers, Story & Yoshida) and not pitching. That was my point.
  25. So, the "set-up" for next year's everyday 13 might look like this: 2024 current OPS C: .806 Wong 1B: .857 Casas 2B: .702 DHam/.756 Romy (platoon?) Grissom? SS: ___ Story 3B: .989 Devers LF: .870 Duran CF: .705 Rafaela RF: .856 Abreu/ .887 Refsnyder (platoon) DH: .717 Yoshida It looks even more lefty orientated, than this year (no O'Neill,) but still looks solid. The 3 most impactful prospects that are near MLB ready are all LHBs: Anthony CF (Rafaela has one of our lowest OPS of the starting 9) Mayer SS (Story to 2B?) Story and DHam/Romy have one of our lowest positional OPS Teel © Teams always need two solid Catchers. Teel gives us a L-R option. The next two: Campbell & Meidroth are both RHBs.
