Lots of teams look for a power bat or a very good backup catcher/decent starting catcher. The return might not be good, but several teams will want those two, if healthy and available.

There is an issue with the 3 OFers you listed. Abreu should never start vs LHPs and maybe Rafaela might be needed or used at SS some days. O’Neill needs to play FT when healthy, and Ref v all lefties at minimum. With so much overloading, maybe we trade an OFer for a P or 2Bman -
Maybe less. At least we could get a laugh seeing you in one. Dalbec makes me cry!

How long a leash would you give Yoshi to start hitting? A week? Two weeks? Three?

soxprospects says he has 3 options. I can see the reasoning on not having someone like him on the bench. He'd be a back-up DH, PH'er and emergency LF'er. That is not useful depth. The way our bench has been doing, unless there is an injury, I'm not for weakening it by sending DHam, Romy or Valdez down to accommodate a slot for Yoshi. (I'm assuming Dalbec gets demoted when Abreu is called up.)

After #6 Cespedes, #7 Fitts and maybe #8 Zanetello, I would not be upset, if we traded Sandlin at #9. I would not trade #10 Campbell for any rental. After 10, I'd be okay.

Also read Cora has said Yoshi is the FT DH, so that makes it Ref vs others, now- once he is healthy.

Criswell was cruising through 5 with Woo, when the big club bug bit, and two errors have led to 3 runs in the 6th (so far.) Kavadas has homered twice. Meidroth is o-3 w no BBs- shocking! POR got swept in a DBLHDR by one run, each game. Game 1: Encarnacion let up 8 runs (7ERS) in 1.1 IP. Teel, Jordan & Sikes homered. Anthony 1-3 w BB Mayer 1-3 w BB Teel 2-4 Game2: Wikelman roughed up, again. Mata w 3IP 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 2K Anthony 0-3 w BB Mayer 2-4 Teel 1-2 GRE lost by 1, also. Sandlin 2 IP, 0H, 0ER, 1BB, 4K All of a sudden, SAL is scoring in bunches. Dean: 5IP, 2H, 2ER, 5BB, 6K Brannon 3-5 Anderson, Alcantara & Taylor all w 2 Hits.

Every good player slumps. I'm not sure why every Devers slump or mini-slump needs to be brought up. It's a natural thing for even the best hitters. As for being the "ugly face," I don't think I'm alone thinking that is a response I "really don't get." With a .901 OPS, I'd wish we'd have 9 ugly faces.

Ref on the bench vs a RHPs is one thing, but to me, vs a LHP, this is criminal. At least put Rafaela at SS and Ref in the OF, if you insist on playing Yoshida. Okay, I'm done ranting on Yoshi over Ref v LHPs.

I just hope we don't trade a top 6 or 7 prospect for any 2 month rental, unless an extension is agreed upon.

To me, if Pivetta does well until the deadline, he and Jansen would get the best return. Pivetta has been good for several years, but he has now gone a whole calendar year of pitching very well. Teams look to improve their rotations, going into August. Teams without a solid closer will be fighting over Jansen, too. There will be a few big bat rentals out there. O'Neill should get a decent prospect, but IMO, not as good as Pivetta & Jansen. Martin has something to prove, first.

My opinion is not based on Yoshida’s SSS in 2024. It’s based on others doing better and some on how Yoshida ended 2023. I think the league figured him out and he has yet to make the right adjustment. I don’t think he should be the FT DH or even 75%. I think Cora will start him 60-75% or more. -
I think Jansen and Pivetta can get an average team’s 10-18 prospect, and O’Neill a 12-22 one. Martin is unknown, as of now but could get a 12-22 or 18-30 depending

It’s hard to have a strong opinion on Sandlin, but with such a lack of strong pitching prospects, I’m sticking to my no top 10 opinion. I would trade Wikelman and Roger’s for him.
