  1. How about looking at only the highest contracts that are finished or close enough to finish and grade? $426 Trout ('19-'30) BUST $325 Stanton ('15-'27) ??? MEH??? $252 ARod ('01-'10) renegotiated to $275 ('08-'17) Pretty good, first one, second one???? $260 Arenado ('19-'26) Ummm.... dropped off on O, bigtime $248 Miggy ("16-'23) Close to a BUST, if not one. $245 Strasburg ('20-'26) Injured for most of it $245 Rendon ('20-'26) BUST $240 Pujols ('12-'21) BUST $240 Cano ('14-'23) BUST $225 Votto ('14-'13) Pretty bad for the last half, or so. $217 Price Meh to worse Others over $200: kershaw, Yelich, Fielder, Scherzer, Greinke What's the hit rate, here? Not quiter eady to grade, but close... $324 Cole ('20-'28 with more to come) $300 Machado ('19-'28)
  2. H4e's like 6th on my DFA/trade list, so I doubt we get that far down. Plus, I think we will trade Abreu and or DHam, so there are 2 slots open and maybe filled by one return pitcher.
  3. I think we all do. If it's between Mayer and Anthony, I'd trade Mayer. I don't think Teel brings back a top SP'er. I want to keep Campbell and Anthony the most. It's no slight on Mayer. We also have middle IF'ers, Story, Campbell, Grissom, DHAM, and later, Arias & Romero with maybe Cespedes at 2B. Assuming we trade Abreu, and with Rafaela still a question on O: keep Anthony & Campbell.
  4. He did look pretty good, for a while,m before surgery.
  5. Does seem like a stretch signing. While $1.5M is not much, it is a roster slot that could/should have been filled by a better quality LH'd RP'er.
  6. My NFL Power Rankings: 1. Buffalo 9-2 2. KC 9-1 3. Detroit 9-1 4. PHI 8-2 5. Min 8-2 6. , Pitt 8-2 7. GB 7-3 8. Balt 7-4 9.. Hou 6-4 10T Wash 7-4 & LAC 6-3
  7. Yes, I prefer that, too. Anthony would bring back a much better SP'er, IMO. I'd love this OF: LF: Soto CF: Duran RF: Anthony 4th/Utility: Rafaela Trade Mayer and Abreu and platoon Ref with Yoshida at DH. 1. Duran CF 2. Devers 3B 3. Casas 1B (maybe Story v LHPs) 4. Soto LF 5. Anthony RF 6. Story SS 7. Yoshida- Ref platoon DH 8. Campbell 2B (Grissom-DHam platoon as back-up) 9. Wong + addition C Bench: C addition, Rafaela, Grissom or DHam
  8. I'm all about pitching, but a guy like Soto comes around every 10 generations, if that. I'm not getting my hopes up, but getting him would allow us to trade a top value OF'er or OF prospect (Anthony) for a young and cost-controlled pitcher, so we may not have to spend on a SP'er. Soto-Devers would rival Papi-Manny.
  9. Crochet does not have enough of a record of success to be worth a top 4 prospect. It's Abreu plus of we move on to another plan.
  10. I seriously doubt we give a top 4 prospect for Crochet. Maybe Abreu and DHam or Abreu and Arias or Romero.
  11. Teams keep losing, and ND seems to look more and more solid. AP Rankings: 1. ORE 11-0 (idle) 2. Ohio St 9-1 (vs IN) 3. Texas 9-1 (vs KY) 4. Penn St 9-1 (at MN) 5. IN 10-0 (at Ohio St) 6. ND 9-1 (vs Army) 7. AL 8-2 (at OKL) 8. GA 8-2 (v UMass) 9. Ole Miss 8-2 (at FL) 10. TN 8-2 (vs UTEP) 11. MIA 9-1 (vs WF) 12. Boise St 9-1 (at WY) ___________ 13. SMU 9-1, 14. BYU 9-1, 15. TX A&M 8-2, 16. COL 8-2, 17. Clem 8-2, 18. Army 9-0
  12. I think they greatly overestimated what Richards, Kluber and Paxton would give, but yes, how much more could they have done that would have gotten us to the dance.
  13. I dropped him from my list when the comp pick was attached.
  14. That is easy: he is the number one set up man and back-up closer. He will get many save opportunities, too.
  15. Agreed, a Soto signing would have to be coupled with a major trade for a pitcher, and then we could afford add another OF to the trade.
  16. Ding, ding, ding! The winner is....
  17. Welcome! Yes, Mayer not Anthony for Crochet, but I'd like to trade Mayer and Abreu for a btter SP'er with a longer record of success or more years of control.
  18. We now have 40 on the roster. Before we add the Rule 5 guy(s), we will need to make some trades or cuts. When we add 2-4 more FAs or trade additions, more cuts or trades need to be made. Let the fun begin.
  19. MLBTR reports "guaranteed $2.25MM on a deal that offers another $750K in incentives. He’d earn $150K apiece for reaching 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 appearances."
  20. He's the lefty, and Scott can be the closer we need.
  21. I think we'd need to keep the 1-2 punch of Soto & Devers to get the full affect of adding Soto. (Trade Casas & Abreu, maybe.)
  22. He tried, but at $10M/1, I'm not sure expecting solutions was reasonable. Bloom should have done better with what he spent on SP'ing. $30M on Richards, Kluber and Paxton was a miss. $12M on Wacha & Hill was fine. $11M on 2 years of Perez was meh. $53M on all these guys was a miss, but not too far from what is expected for 6 pitchers and 8 years of control, counting the on Paxton was rehabbing. Bllom did better with the pen: Jansen, Martin and finding Schreiber and others. (The Barnes extension & Diekman were yuck-a-doodle-doo.)
