  1. No doubt, Bloom failed to do what they hoped he could do. He fell way short on the hopes of bargain basement success stories, and too many of his largest signings failed miserably, despite some of them only being $10M/1, so I guess success rates on those types of deals do not have great track records. His deadline fumbles were legendary, but in '21, he did bring in Schwarber, Robles, and later Iggy & Shaw. The Vaz for Abreu deal was nice, but yes, the ho-hum summer deals left all of us scratching our heads- bot those who wanted us to sell and those who wanted us to buy. He did pretty good with the farm, but failed to fix the farm pitching issues. He did leave us a few promising arms, but not really any wow factors. Seeing what Brez has done in less than a year and a half is pretty remarkable in comparison to Bloom, but then again, Bloom got us close to the WS in less than 2 years. The after years dommed him. Story, Yoshida, Richards, Kluber, Paxton...
  2. They finally lost, but they still hit 2 jacks.
  3. So glad you came back. Hope to hear more from you.
  4. Bello & Dobbins got rocked, tonight. Mayer 2-4 w HR & BB Grissom 1-3 w HR & BB Anthony 1-5 w 2B Eaton 2-4
  5. MLB on K Campbell https://www.mlb.com/news/kristian-campbell-early-2025-analysis
  6. Me, too. The price seems high, but in these times, I think it's reasonable.
  7. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but here are the years of control of our current players - counting 2025: 9 Devers 6-7 Crochet 6 Rafaela 5-6 Bello 5+ Campbell, Anthony, Mayer, Weissert, Narvaez, Fitts, Priester, Murphy & others 5 Abreu, DHam, Slaten, Criswell, Bernardino, Grissom, 4 Duran, Casas, Crawford, Wong, Romy, Wink, Kelly 3-4 Story 3 Houck, Yoshida 2 Sandoval, Whitlock, Newcomb 1-3 Bregman 1-2 Giolito 1 Buehler, Chapman, Hendriks, Refsnyder, Wilson
  8. I was thinking the same thing on Campbell up 2nd, at some point. L Duran R Campbell R Bregman L Devers L Casas R Story (L Anthony w no Rafaela?) L Abreu- R Refsnyder R Wong R Rafaela (Mayer w no Story?)
  9. I think he meant this year plus 5-6 years= 6-7 total.
  10. I think $140/5 was what I projected. I went back to look, but could not find it. They bought out his final arb year (2026.) My point was about factoring that into the final amount.
  11. If you figure Crochet would have gotten $20M in his final arb year, the deal is really like $150M/5, or $30M x 5. That seems reasonable to me, despite his lack of workload under his belt.
  12. Tied for the 6th worst record in MLB. What a bad start! We can't let this get out of hand.
  13. The most likely answer. Sometimes recovery takes longer than expected, too.
  14. Believe what? That he does not look like he is holding back on his swings?
  15. The longest pitcher signing since Price in 2016 (7 years.) This is a good sign that the cycle in spending is shifting upside. $170M/7 Crochet $120M/3 Bregman $21M/1 Buehler $18.3M/2 Sandoval $10.8M/1 Chapman One hell of a winter! This, after $314M/13 Devers, $39M/2 Gio and $10M/2 Hendriks, last winter.
  16. Abreu will get plenty ABs vs LHPs, much like last year, but I don't expect him to start more than 6 games vs LH'd starter- like last year. 6 out of 43 games seems about what I expect in 2025. If he plays more, it probably won't be at ref's expense.
  17. That's a lot of money, and there is an opt out after 5 years, but I'm liking the signing and major direction change from the money handlers.
  18. Let's not forget, Devers was at a 167 wRC+ on 8/2/24 (6th in MLB. His .992 OPS was 5th best and was on pace for a career high. That was not that long ago, folks. His previous career highs: .916 OPS in 2019 140 wRC+ in 2022 I'm not so sure a 29 game sample size should be reason to go drastic on him.
  19. It is wicked frustrating. One has to think there is something wrong with the shoulder, despite no signs when examined. Maybe it has become a mental issue as he is thinking about the shoulder and holding back. His swings don't look like he's holding back, though. The guy can hit. I just hope we can see it, soon.
  20. I think I'd put Campbell up 5th and Story 6th, but no biggie. As expected, Refsnyder is in the line-up vs the lefty. Talk of giving Abreu a chance vs LH'd SP'ers was just that- talk. I do wonder how long we keep Devers up 2nd, and going against a lefty, today might have been a good day to move him to 6th. Now, watch him go 3 for 4. Gotta win these division games. They count just as much in April as in September.
  21. From 8/3 to 8/18, he hit .771, so I'm not sure I'd include those dates that were dragged down by later numbers. It's really about 25 games to end 2024, while playing hurt and 4 games to start this year. If you want to count ST'ing, fine. He has looked lost. I don't disagree, but I'm not sure batting him 9th is the best idea. Maybe give him a day off and bat him 6th for a while- maybe 7th vs lefties.
