  1. I'm not sure Campbell can even play 1B. Can you answer my Q about the downside(s) of Campbell at 3B? I honestly do not know. (Arm?)
  2. They did leave 1B depth pretty barren, but I do think picking up a decent journeyman 1B in May or June might be the easiest position to fill. I think they expected Casas to be ready by May or June, but he got hurt. All-in-all the pre-season plan was not god-awful: they were just slow to react, once they knew Casas was a no go. We all knew Dalbec was a question mark, and his super high K rate is almost always a sign of trouble ahead. That being said, they did have some reason to be optimistic that 1B would not be a major problem. Over Bobby Dee's first 156 gamea (545 PAs,) he hit .243 33 94 with 29 DBL+TRPL. The .308 OBP was not good, but later one, we'd have been thrilled with just that. His .511 OPS looked very promising for a young players first 545 PAs. His OPS was .819 (114 OPS+)
  3. That does look nice. I'm liking someone almost every night, except no game Mondays. AAA has Dobbins, Drohan and Criswell (Stock, Wink and maybe Fitts, at some point.) AA: Early, Monegro, Mullins & Sandlin (Bolden, Wehunt, Uberstine) A+: Clarke, Valera, Tolle, Dean & Rogers (Rivera) A-: Aita, Ehrlicher, Hansen (Sprague) FCL: Cason, Reyes, Fajardo
  4. What would be the main issue with Campbell at 3B. other than Bregman plays there? 1B: Bregma 2B: Story SS: Mayer 3B: Campbell We should have traded Casas for Castillo & Cash or Woo.
  5. You mean demote the guy with a 1.069 OPS over the last six games? (See: I can use tny sample size, too.)
  6. If Anthony is also called up, it makes Campbell in CF less of an option, and now "rotating" Mayer around the infield is very problematic. Someone would have to go (via trade or IL) to make room for both top prospects, and that's not even bringing up Yoshida. 13 Everyday players C: Narvaez/Wong 1B: Casas (Romy) 2B: Campbell, Mayer (DHam) SS: Story, Mayer 3B: Bregman, Mayer LF: Anthony, Duran CF: Duran, Rafaela, RF: Abreu, Refsnyder, Anthony DH: Devers Without Romy and DHam, there is room for 13, but how do the top 3 prospects play 75-80% or more of the time, and if so, at whose expense? The obvious players losing playing time would be Rafaela & Refsnyder (UGH!) but what infielder? None of these guys can play 1B, except Casas.
  7. I have, before. When it's late in a season and we are down 1-2 games in the WC race, I think of the many winnable games we let slip away, and sometime a single game or two stick out.
  8. Kristian Campbell He's already shown he belongs in the bigs.Roman Anthony Overdue for the big call.Marcelo Mayer Currently blocked.Franklin Arias He's got the D, already, and has looked good on O.Yoeilin Cespedes Been my sleeper prospect for a while.Luis Perales Needs healthBrandon Clarke Small sample size, I know...Jhostynxon Garcia Always liked this guy- maybe too much.Richard Fitts Looks better than I expected.Yophery Rodriguez Liking the trade.Connelly Early This could be the year he opens eyes.David Sandlin Hope to see him in AAA, soon.Mikey Romero Finally fulfilling the early promises.Justin Gonzales Let's see how he does when promoted.Hunter Dobbins Looked pretty good in the bigs.Johanfran Garcia Coming back from a long off.Payton Tolle Has some tools.Dorian Soto Pure speculation.Juan Valera Looking human, lately.Dalvinson Reyes Not sure why I like him this much.
  9. Agreed, but asking first is not a bad idea.
  10. This is the kind of loss you look back at, later in the season.
  11. Woo outhit Toledo 8-4 but lost 2-1. Wink did okay, but not much else to report. POR is up 3-1 after winning game one 3-2. Romero and Jh Garcia are getting things done, today. GRE is down 6-5, late, but not because of Clarke: 4.2 1H 0ER 0BB 7K SAL up 4-3, late, as Cohen has pitched a gem in relied: 5.1 IP, 1H, 0ER, 1BB, 3K. de Lon homered.
  12. I'm not expecting Gio to keep this up, all year, but it is very nice to see his first Sox outing look like this!
  13. Maybe, if they were asking with the idea that they will play him there, no matter what he answers, I see your point, but it does seem like the best way to approach the situation, after what happened with the DH move. It is likely better than them coming up to him, one day, and saying, here is a 1Bman's mitt: we want you to go out and show us what you can do in practice at 1B. You think that sits better with him (and the team?)
  14. Devers just hit the .800 mark as April comes to a close. No, I'm not "giddy" or about to say "I told you so," because I had no idea how long his troubles would continue. I did think his hard hit% being so high was a clue that maybe we were too hung up on the low BA and OPS. I hope he's "BACK" for good or "forevers!"
  15. Monegro went 3.2 IP allowing 5H, 1ER, 0BB and 7Ks in the 3-2 loss by POR. Romero had 2 of the team's 3 hitsn(.944,) while Jh Garcia has one w a BB (.907.)
  16. I mentioned this over the winter and also suggested that if Casas and Devers shared DH/1B, maybe both could play 80+80 for 160. That could get both a lot more PAs, if it helps them stay healthy. (I'm still assuming Casas will start hitting well, again.)
  17. A Gio start could turn into a pen game, very quickly. The odds may be close to even on who pitches more innings: YR or LG?
