  1. If the owners were smart, LOL- good one!- they'd offer to raise the min salary to $2M, year 1 and up to $3M by the last year of the deal. That would get a big chunk of players to lobby for passage of a deal that involved some sort of top end player salary limit of a semi-hard team spending cap. Shorten the pre-arb & arb years. Between these two offers, you'd be giving more than half the players on the 40 a big raise or chance to make more. I think the Sox have like 17-18 players who are not pre-arb or arb, and a few of them were extended before they reached arb or free agency.
  2. I've thought Campbell at 1B is the best option for over a week. Calling up Mayer makes more sense than a DH timeshare, Anthony at DH or some sort of Refsnyder- ___ platoon at DH. C: Narvaez 1B: Campbell DH: Devers 2B: Story SS: Mayer 3B: Bregman LF: Anthony CF: Duran RF: Abreu-Refsnyder (platoon) Bench: Rafaela, Wong, Ref/Abreu, Romy (DHam?)
  3. I think many felt Casas would hit better than Yoshida over a full 2025 season.
  4. He's on the 40 and not the 60 Day IL. He has options, so what is the manipulation? And what for?
  5. Does seem strange that Yoshida is not DH'ing in AAA.
  6. This is important, and although they may have mishandled the move to DH, that was not really done on a whim, either. I'm sure Sox GMs discussed the weak defense at 3B for years, and thought of ways to fix the problem, but chose to let it go for another year. Has the Bregman opportunity not come up, Devers would have played 3rd for another year, or at least until Mayer was called up. The Yoshida injury helped make the decision an obvious one.
  7. Nope. With SS only 80 game sample sizes count. He may never come back to this site, once Devers' hot streak reaches 80. (We can hope, anyway... LOL)
  8. You did Get me, but why would you want a guy with an 80 game OPS like that?
  9. I'll bet on Devers at 1B by June 15th, at the latest.
  10. Is this a recent thing, because if it is, it's working. .770 last 90 games. 1.069 last 25 PAs
  11. We can't trade Devers for Mountcastle due to this most important stat: Last 80 games: .741 Devers .626 Mountcastle (Gottcha! LOL!)
  12. 1. The tensions seem to be helping Devers at the plate. 2. Even if the solution ends up being Devers at 1B, he won't be there for a while. so the "as soon as possible" might be weeks. (The solution could be stated, today, though.)
  13. I think Devers has quick reflexes on defense and had okay range. At 1B, his range could be plus. Throwing was a big issue, and that is minimized at 1B, but still not unimportant. I've always felt he could easily be as good as Casas, the worst 1Bman in MLB in just weeks, and likely better in a month or two.
  14. I'm extremely hesitant on trading Duran, although I prefer Anthony and even Campbell in the OF over him. I love Abreu, but he's a platoon player, only, right now. He has more years of control, though. Ideally, we trade Story, so Campbell plays 2B, and we can keep Duran, Anthony and Abreu for the OF with Rafaela as the odd man out.
  15. Mayer could never come close to getting enough ABs, unless Campbell play CF 7-8 games out of 10. We are not resting Bregman, Story and Campbell even 1 out of 10 games off, so at most he gets 2 games every 10 games. Id Campbell plays CF 3 out of 10, that's still just half playing time for Mayer. I don't see that happening.
  16. I'd give his D a little more time, but it is looking more and more like a move to 2B is nearing. (Campbell to CF, but then where does Anthony fit into the OF mix? DH?)
  17. That will never come close to aa FT job for Campbell, unless he plays CF 8 out of 10 games.
  18. He was once ranked 7th by soxprospects.com, so he had some high hopes when first joining the system. Being the 24th pick in a draft will do that, despite getting and under slot bonus..
  19. Maybe CF, and keep Anthony in AAA? Hmmm....
  20. Wink looked good, today: 3.1, 1H, 0ER, 0BB, 4K, but Woo lost 6-0. (Anthony 2-3 w BB.) POR won 6-5 in 10. Sandline & Early each went 5 IP: Sandlin: 5H, 3ER, 0BB, 9K/ Early: 3H, 1ER, 2BB, 8K GRE lost 6-0, too. Carlson got lit up, while Clarke let up 2 ER in 2.1 IP. SAL lost 4-3. Asencio hit his 3rd dinger.
  21. Unlike many, I think there is a lot of room between Good and Bad. Saying someone is not being good does imply they are being bad or doing badly as a teammate at certain times, but does mean the person is a bad teammate. People do bad things but are not bad people. Also, when someone is the worst defensive, I would not say the guy is being a good teammate, at least in those moments of suckiness. And, they guy says something like, "I think I'm pretty good on D." Now, I will say: "LOL"
  22. The thing I don't like about that idea is that Story is probably still a better defensive SS than Mayer and certainly a better 2Bman than Campbell. Campbell's height might make him a better 1Bman than Story, so it's not the moves based on better D. Mayer SS, Story 2B, Campbell 1B might be best. Story SS< Mayer 2B, Campbell 1B might be second best of the 3 chocies at who plays 1B. (I don't see Mayer at 1B as an option.)
  23. Moving Devers to 1B or DH makes him and the team better. Yes, refusing to go along with making the team better is the issue. I'm never one to trust translators, so I'm not sure exactly what Devers said or meant in his heart, but this sounded worse than the move to DH event. He may very well end up at 1B and eventually, maybe even like it. I've felt Devers could be a decent 1Bman for many years, but it seems like the gods have been against the idea for just as long a time.
