  1. We should trade Chapman, promote Story to SS and make Cheng the closer.
  2. I recall you saying 3 weeks ago that we were significantly more than one big bat away.
  3. It's the ring finger. Don't let Ole Red's bias against prospects and berating nicknames get you to spread misinformation.
  4. Exactly. Lets get the big bat and work out the positions afterwards.
  5. Red Sox Injury Report: Suarez: May be ready by his July 21st eligible date. Early: Ramping up workouts with "eye towards bullpen session followed by possible rehab start.) Crochet: No plans to start throwing. Story: "Seems all set from hitting perspective." Could be close to rehab assignment. Oviedo: Will throw pen session this week. Houck: Throwing 2 pen sessions a week. Crawford: Resumed throwing aat 100 feet. Anthony: "Waiting to be symptom free." Mayer: Follow-up X-Rays and hand specialist visit today. IKF: They wrote the exact same as Mayer's, so maybe a mistake? Casas: No update since July 5th for the China Doll.
  6. Fangraph's shows Hard Hit%: 39.7 in '21 38.3 in '26 34.8 in '23 34.0 in '24 33.6 in '25 27.5 in '22
  7. Trading Early is probably higher than I'd go, but if he comes back, he'll be limited in innings for 2026 anyway. IMO, we need to keep Early or Eyanson but could included Witherspoon or Phillips, if needed. Of all these 4, I'd keep Eyanson, although I'm still a big Early supporter. I'd trade Duran, but I doubt we get what he might be worth, even to us. Mayer still has some value, but we need middle infielders, as is. Trade for one with control, and Mayer is on my list to trade. Trade for a catcher, and I'm fine with adding Wong or Narvaez to a trade. Even catchers like them have value. I'm not sure IKF has any value, even if we pay his full boat. Here is the pitching depth chart for 2027 (no Gray or Sandoval) Crochet, Suarez, Tolle, Bennett, Early Bello, Houck, Crawford, Oviedo, Rivera Eyanson, Holobetz, Wehunt, Paez, Anderson Pen Chapman, Whitlock, Slaten, Moran, Weissert, Guerrero Watson, Kelly, La Sorsa, Uberstine, Samaniego, Gamboa Mullins, Rogers, Ziehl, Monegro, Olds, Song, Coffey
  8. Catcher: Langeliers or Goodman (Rental: Jeffers) SS: Abrams or Adames (Neto is likely a pipedream) 2B: Arraez, BLowe (LHB) or Torres (Steer?)
  9. Some Goodman career splits of note: .838 at Coors and .777 away (not bad) /same HR totals .865 v L and .785 v R (not bad) He hits over 45 HRs per 650.
  10. Do we know if the doctor first suggested surgery with this plan as plan B or 2A?
  11. The pen, the guy who assembled it and the guys who use it all deserve some props. ERA- since June 19th: 0 Guerrero 15 Whitlock 25 Moran 46 Watson 65 Gamboa 80 Weissert 91 Slaten 114 Chapman The mostly fill-in rotation, too... 19 Bennett 25 Gray 39 Early 67 Suarez 80 Tolle 103 Rivera & 110 Sandoval
  12. He didn't seem to mind them running into outs left and right.
  13. Mass Live had someone suggest ... Early, Witherspoon, Mayer, Narvaez to COL for Goodman.
  14. The Sox are 14th in HRs since June 19th. Sox are 5th in runs in that period. 1st in fWAR Pitching 8th in fWAR Everyday Players.
  15. We might see some borderline teams buy and sell. There might be more MLB players for MLB players than is normal for a deadline period. I get the feeling many players will be traded. How many are impactful is up for grabs.
  16. This last series helped the Sox blow by the Rays in run differential. AL leaders: +85 NYY (2nd best record) +45 BOS (5th best) & CWS (3rd) +31 DET (12th) +14 TBR (1st) +13 SEA (7th) -12 CLE (4th) -13 BAL (8th) Fewest losses in the AL 42 TBR 44 NYY 46 CWS 48 BOS & CLE The Sox have 1-2 more games to play than nearly every other AL contender, and pitchers nearing their limits on IP. We need Crochet back or a trade for an innings eater.
  17. If HOU keeps losing, maybe they change course. Their window is narrowing due to age and contract issues, though, so maybe the try to keep the 2026 window open. Word is they will not extend Pena.
  18. Duran has been up and down a lot, so an upswing is certainly possible and maybe even probable. He did have one or two brief ones, this season. I am not for DFA'ing Duran, and I think trading him when his stock is near zero is not a good idea, right now, unless we add a RHB LF type. Yoshida and Romy can handle the LHB DH better than Duran, even if Duran heats up.
  19. Because BLowe bats LH'd? Arraez does, too, but his splits are more reasonable. Torres bats RH'd but do his 4 HRs scare you away? I'll take the .395 OBP and lead him off. Paredes is not great at 2B, but he has some power and is a RHB.
  20. This seems to happen way too often and bugs the you-know-what out of me.
  21. Next, you'll stoop to daily sample sizes. I guess that better than daily stool samples.
