  1. I'd prefer him over Wong as a C3/UT. Plus, we will likely add 2 infielders, so we'll have C2, OF4, Romy and then I'd select Sogard as UT ov er Wong and Eaton. Maybe even DHam. Yes, I said that out loud. We might also go with 5 OF'ers (Bring Ref back? Campbell? Garcia?) if we use one to DH, often enough.
  2. If we go up to the 2nd tax line, we'd have close to $65M to spend, but the issue is the long term deals. I'm not sure how many players are looking at '25 Bregman type deals. Of course, knowing these guys, they's spend $65M on 6 players on $10.7 M deals, not as I suggest on 2-3 players (AAV.)
  3. I may sound like I'm super high on Suarez, but I'd prefer several others. I mention him all the time, because I know how much JH likes shorter deals, and the guy is like 84 years old.
  4. I thought "mutual" meant Polanco could say No (and would do so.) It's only if he says Yes and they say no, that he gets the $750K buyout.
  5. I think notin suggested Hicks for Murphy, but I don't think they take even Jh Garcia and Hicks for him.
  6. Cots says... 26:$8M mutual option ($750,000 buyout)
  7. Plan A: Alonso and Suarez (who will likely get 2-3 years only.) Trade for a SP2. Polanco turns 33 next summer. If he'd take 3 years, maybe he could be plan A.
  8. I'm in total agreement. I think we need two major additions, minimum, but one is essential.
  9. The window is from now until 3 maybe more years. It's a big bay window.
  10. I could see this being near plan A. (I removed Cease and Gallen.) I'd like to see Alonso & Polanco/Suarez, but that is unrealistic for JH to allow.
  11. I'd bet my house against that. I doubt Alonso even gets $200M, but I would not bet against $200M/6 or 7. Maybe he gets $170M/5 or $186M/6. Even that seems way too high compared to last winter.
  12. I'm okay with him as our #2 catcher, but not as #3/UT on the MLB roster.
  13. We coulda not gone over, this year, if not for the Hicks deal, but despite what was said, I think SFG insisted on him being taken.
  14. He's so bad on defense that he's really a DH-like signing, but one could argue Devers was, too. I won't be surprised if he signs for $30-35M AAV, but I'm guessing there will be a sort of repeat of last winter, but he'll get slightly more and longer terms. He got $27M x 2 w an optout. He may get $30M x 5, $33M x 4 or $31M x 3, IMO.
  15. I'd like to see if Mookie's "twitch times" have diminished before projecting his future offensive production. IMO, that was a big reason for his success.
  16. 3rd C/UT in AAA is fine, but rather expensive for that role.
  17. Too much time to think during a bye.
  18. Give him a 2nd year option with a $1M buyout, so the AAV is $3M. (Assuming we add no better 1Bman.) If we go large at 3B or 2B, SP2 and DH, I'd be okay with Lowe/Romy and the Casas prayer at 1B.
  19. I'm all for the idea- even going over the second line. To reset, next year, they may need to sign 1-2 players on 1 year deals, but what else is new? Expiring contracts after 2026 (AAV): $9.1 Sandoval $7.5 Whitlock Arbs: 3 of 3: Houck 3 of 4: Crawford 2 of 3: Duran, Romy, Casas, Wong, Kelly 2 of 4: Bernardino, Winckowski 1st: Abreu, Slaten, Criswell, Weissert, Murphy, DHam This is not a lot of lost salary or big arb raises projected- maybe Duran's, but Abreu's is year 1.
  20. Indeed, but our record with one and dones has been putrid. Getting 3-4 good years, 2-3 okay years and 2-3 bad years would be a better record than we have had so far. Plus, our window is no, so getting those "good years" up front was what we needed.
  21. What's your position? You say this, but also gave a thumbs up to this: Given the other needs, this isn't a tough call. Wong just had an awful start to the season and never recovered, but look around.......not many teams have better backups.
  22. After a lack luster season, Vladdy is having a better post season at the plate than even Ohtani! 8 HRs is 65 ABs (same as Ohtani) BBs to Ks: 12:5 Vladdy 14:22 Ohtani
  23. I wouldn't pay $10-11M, so I'm not offering him an arb. I could see us signing him to less, later on, but I see about 6 1Bmen I'd sign before him.
  24. I'm not advocating staying under, but you know why. JH is a stingy SOB. I thought I remember you saying you thought they "would reset, next year," but maybe I'm wrong. Either way, when was the last time we went over by a significant amount?
