  1. Just look at all the posts last year on HanRam. He's still the same roller coaster HanRam, but he's just currently on the rising part of the ride. Next year, we'll wish we had traded him while his stock was high. (My guess.)
  2. I'm not sure anymore. I don't want EE at big money x 5+ years, but I don't think HanRam is going to have a good year next year. I might have to retract my EE over HR comment.
  3. EE is one of the worst 1Bmen since 2012. He's really more of a DH-only type player. He might be even worse at 1B than HanRam and Papi, but I guess the injury factor is not there like it is with Papi. I'm not sure a DH will get much more than $22-24M x 5 or 6 years.
  4. Let them have him. I'm not for spending large AND long on just about anyone, unless almost all the years fall within prime. I shouldn't have mentioned him as a replacement for HanRam, but he is the biggest name out there. I'd rather have him at $110M/5 than HanRam at $66M/3
  5. That was the same type play Beni got hurt on!
  6. I'm not sure about the "chemistry", but I see no indications of any issues. I have never heard any about EE either. EE is a beast. He's been about the most consistent hitter over the last 5 years. I get the age thing, and I hate these long term , big money deals. I'm actually against signing EE, but my point was that I'd prefer him over HanRam...by a lot. The guy's been over .890 every year since 2012. 34+ Hrs all 5 years. 98+ RBIs all 5 years. HanRam is a roller coaster, who is on the top of the next thrill, but soon to be drop-off, in my opinion. Last winter, I said we should trade him, even if he hits .950. I realize we have a weakness at 1B/DH next year, and EE is not a better fielder than HanRam at 1B, so we'd be back to a DH only type situation. Maybe there's a better option than Han-Ram and EE out there. EE OPS '09 .729 '10 .787 '11 .787 '12 .941 '13 .904 '14 .901 '15 .929 '16 .893 HanRam (same years) .954 .853 .712 .759 1.040 .817 .717 .848 You can't construct a more inconsistent pattern than HanRam's, plus the guy has only had over 512 PAs once sine 2012 and 2 times in his past 6 seasons. Sell high. HanRam
  7. The money saved by trading HanRam might allow us to pursue a better option. I'm not high on signing Encarnacion for 5-6 years, but if you take away HanRam's 3 remaining years, it looks more enticing. (Hanram's 2019 vesting option kicks in, if he has 1050 PAs over 2017-2018.)
  8. Beni won the soxprospects.com "Player of the year Award". Interesting since Baseball America chose Moncada as the minor league player of the year. Pretty exciting stuff when you have 2 guys getting such praise from baseball "experts".
  9. I suggested on another thread that I think Betts needs a breather. I know this is crunch time, but we need him back in "form". It would also be a way to keep Young and Beni in the line-up for another day or two.
  10. First our rotation got into a groove. Now, the pen is hitting its stride. Maybe by playoff time, we can see both thriving.
  11. His stock is as high as it ever will be going forward. I'd trade him this winter.
  12. Great post. Like with Melancon. Maybe Pablo will follow HanRam's example next year.
  13. ...Girardi schooled Farrell last night to get his matchup with Young. unfortunately for NY Young was HBP... Farrell may have foreseen, if that's possible, the expected switch and match-up an still preferred that one to the previous one.
  14. Maybe give us their 3rd or 4th round draft pick.
  15. Tampa is becoming a good spoiler.
  16. He's let up 22 ERs in 70 IP this year. 7 in 4.0 IP vs the Sox! ERA vs BOS: 15.75 ERA vs rest: 2.05
  17. Mookie gutted out a big hit somehow in the middle of it all. We need him to start hitting the ball hard.
  18. We just added 50 points to Betances ERA! 2.33>2.83
  19. I was getting ready to post the new "bunched up" standings. This win is the sweetest of all.
  20. Let's not forget the great job our pen did.
  21. Just after all the talk of never coming back, never "walking off", and doom & gloom! Thank you HanRam!
  22. Unfreeeeeeekin" Real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. The whole AL is a crap shoot in more ways than one. I said it before the season started. Every AL team has serious weak links. Ours seemed to be less in numbers, aand we appeared to have more options off the bench to patch those weaknesses. Wright patched one hole in the rotation (plus Porcello stepped up). Leon solved the "blackhole" catcher offense issue. Young has been great off the bench and Beni has looked promising in a limited time. Shaw surprised many by winning Pablo's job and doing well for a few months. We still have holes. The rotation was not going to continue their month long streak. We are bound to slump, and we will get hot again. I still think we have less holes than other AL teams. It's going to be about who is playing well when it counts. Right now, we look down. The hottest teams int he AL, Seatlle (9-1) and the Yanks (7-3) probably have the worst looking teams on paper out of all the AL serious contenders. The "best" AL teams area ll flat right now: BAL 6-4 BOS 5-5 CLE 5-5 TEX 5-5 DET 4-6 TOR 3-7 Nobody is looking like a "winner", so why giveu p on our chances, is what I say!
  24. Man, if Papi could have only hit that HR earlier in the game...
  25. Imagine being a Jays fan. Talk about looking rotten. The Yanks and O's are the only two teams playing above their expectations. They don't scare me much.
