  1. Rings by owner since Harry Frazee had 1 in 6 seasons: Pre-Frazee mix (4 in 16 seasons) Quinn 0 in 11 seasons Yawkeys 0 in 46 seasons Yawkey plus others 0 in 35 Henry-Werner 4 in 24 Again, be careful what you wish for. (Note: this is not an endorsement of JH & Co.)
  2. They certainly need more than a few positional and batting order slot, but trying to get the most from what you have is a noble gesture.
  3. I still think they should have tried Devers at 1B years ago, but who knows? It looks like dumping him was the for the best, and the timing was not great, but was better than waiting longer.
  4. That has been widely reported and confirmed by several sources.
  5. Life boats would have helped, but you seem against that idea, too. Maybe they just shoulda have torpedoed the ship, the second it his the berg.
  6. Agreed, strike Guerrero's iron while it's hot. He may only be good for a while, but we can use some good for any length of time.
  7. I'm not even sure he talks to his dog anymore. Someone might overhear him and quoate him. I think we all agree, JH should have spent more and waited to long to kick it up a notch. Several posters think he needed to kick it up by more or way more than he has in the last year or two, and I can't disagree, but the AAV budget has gone up about $40M and many of the extensions will kick up the salary in upcoming years, and that will raise the "actual salary" budgets, on paper- unless of course he does more big salary dumps, like Devers, but chooses not to replace the salary traded away. It gets tricky when you try and determine if JH actually believes he's "committed to wining." In his head he probably believes it. Maybe the yes men around him do, too. While Brez has made some mistakes on the spending and choices made, I think his overall impact has been to improve the 40 man roster and farm, on paper. It hasn't shown up in 2026, but when you look at Contreras, Suarez and even Gray to some extent, they are not the problem with 2026, nor losing Bregman, Giolito and Devers. His worst moves in hindsight (and yes some felt in foresight too) were the Sale trade and Buehler signing. Those were big, but at least Buehler's was a one season budget hit. Blooms biggest mistakes (Masa and Story) are long-lasting.
  8. Is there a point here? Tiny 6 start, pretty close numbered sample sizes are supposed to mean something? BTW, when is Donovan coming off the IL? He was doing very well, beforehand.
  9. Good point on IKF, and it's not like we're playing him a lot. Hell, even Montasarion has more PAs! How about Story? Story as the SS? Durbin, if he stays under .550 through May? (The leash got yanked for Monasterio.)
  10. Well, we did win, when we focused on OBP and knocking the starter out by taking a zillion pitches, but the league has changed. I do think it's good strategy to put a higher OBP guy up first. Only Durbin and Story have more PAs and a lower OBP than Duran. His .333 OBP over the last 7 games is better, but still not great. I guess f you want us to lose every game, it might be a good strategy... oh wait... you do! 😉
  11. Like you just did? Like I said, too funny, and your de-escalation techniques need work.
  12. Looks like a decent 5 point plan. I might add: 6. Do not bat Story higher than the 5 slot v L and 6 slot vs R. 7. Move Samaniego & Moran up the mid/high leverage pen choice order. 8. Send Watson to the DFA or back to his old team. 9. Let Mayer bat vs LHPs and see what happens. 10. Examine your trainer and pitcher conditioning people closely.
  13. I also had no problem leading Anthony off to start the season. This team has very few guys with proven OBPs that inspire lead off expectations. Anthony's sample size was small, but it was worth a try. Maybe they kept him there, too long, but who was an OB machine in mid April?
  14. Very funny. I bring up your post where you said Eyanson would not be promoted until June, at the earliest- a post I agreed with you on, by the way, and then you go on a search of posts from 2022 to find some where I got something wrong. Red lies all the time and tries to change the meaning of words, when exposed. Take a look at Red's posts. One could argue he stalks me, but I've yet to see you even hint to him to take it down a notch. I'm taking it down a notch by ignoring Red, and you try to escalate it further. Good job by the mod.
  15. Yes, and it's that 21 mile walk home that dooms most of us old foggies!
  16. Valera would be snagged, if left unprotected, even if the team knew he'd be on the IL for a while, which he shouldn't still be from this injury by Sept 2028. He's not going to go to the Rule 5 draft, no matter what. This is really about when we need to use up a 40 man slot for him.
  17. Pretty hard to do worse than .526 in 134 PAs, like Durbin's season, but Durbin's bad stretch is really just 24 games long and .452 in 91 PAs. In 2025, KC went... .535 in his last 172 PAs, which is about as bad as Durbin's season and with 38 more PAs. It's way better than Durbin's .452 in 91 PAs but nearly double the sample size. Now, KC's las 144 PAs was worse than both Durbin sample sizes and with more PAs than both: .451 in 144 PAs (last 39 games in MLB in 2025.) Maybe this statement was just a "happy little accident."
  18. Agreed. I think Story has a long leash for that reason. We don't really have horrible infield defense that necessitates an IKF late inning move, except Story, and for some reason these guys think he's still a plus on D, or at least it appears that way.
  19. Can't disagree, but I hesitate to think the media spotlight is the cause of a small sample size slump.
  20. MVP says it's not calculated until after 3rd year, but we should know if missing 4 months is enough.
  21. With the state of our non 1B infield, I'm not sure we should think about trading an infield prospect, unless we know something bad about them. .449 IKF (42 PAs) .526 Durbin (134) .629 Monasterio (60) .655 Mayer (109) That's 245 PAs! (17% of the team's total. 1/9th is 11% for reference.) Farm: 1.109 Arias AA 1.051 Capra AAA .947 Gasper AAA .919 Ferguson AA .896 Godbout A+ .883 Seigler AAA .810 Sogard AAA (on the 40) .777 Cheng AAA (on the 40) .755 Campbell (on the 40) .753 Eaton AAA (on the 40)
  22. Okay, but... .817 Caminero (1026 PAs) .804 in 433 PAs Roman Anthony. I think the kid deserves a few more PAs. Roman had pressure on him, last year, too. Once could argue more, since we were looking like a playoff team.
  23. Not at all. A three game sample size is too small, but a one game sample size is... I have faith Duran can get back over .700. I'm not sure Durbin or IKF can get over .600 (.550 might be too high an ask) or Story over .650. How long is the leash on these 3?
