  1. Which would probably lead to the highest viewership to a MLB game in history.
  2. They should hook up a taser gun to the umps, so ever time they get a call wrong, they get tased... each time with more and more voltage. Screw robo umps, this would bring fans back to the game!
  3. I hate that song!
  4. Plus, the big fat umps often block passed balls.
  5. I certainly feel better going into tonight's game, as it will be a Yankee elimination game and not a Sox one, but yes, the 16-1 win last night changes nothing about our odds of winning tonight. I like our chances, as I always have, for Porcello and the Sox tonight. Our offense didn't lead the league in runs scored by mistake. Our bottom 4 hitters have struggled at times, but they have all had moments of being hot. I'm hopeful we can use the momentum to keep this going, but we all should no that momentum can change very quickly.
  6. Just robo call balls and strikes and plays at 1B. It will legitimize the game and make it go faster. There will also be less arguing and manager ejections.
  7. Nostril Dumb Ass
  8. Yes, you are wright! My bad.
  9. Good point on keeping JD in the DH role to allow for defensive flexibility.
  10. Yes, and Vaz was the scheduled starter with Eovaldi and Porcello before the series began. Cora did not make a switch, because Leon was not hitting. Leon will catch Sale's next game. Moreland was hurt, so playing Pearce vs the LHP was not a true "switch". Cora did have the option of plating Holt or Swihart at 1B, but I think most managers would have gone with Pearce- who has hit righties surprisingly well this year. Playing Holt was the only real choice Cora made, but the way Holt had been hitting, you figured he was going to play at some point. One could argue, he should have been playing in an earlier game. I love Cora, but I don't think the line-up change last night was as bold as some seem to think it was.
  11. It would certainly set us up nicely for the ALCS. SAT gm 1 Sale @ Fenway (+3 days rest) SUN gm 2 Eovaldi @ Fenway (+1 day of rest- perfect for him) off TUE gm 3 Porcello @ HOU (+2 days rest) WED gm 4 Price/ERod/Wright @ HOU THU gm 5 Sale @ HOU off SAT gm 6 Eovaldi @ Fenway +1 days rest-perfect for him SUN gm 7 Porcello @ Fenway
  12. Tie goes to the ump.
  13. I mentioned that configuration, but maybe this is better: JD at DH Pearce at 1B Holt in RF Betts in CF
  14. Farrell would do it in a heartbeat.
  15. That's nice to hear, but I don't really pay much attention to small recent sample sizes. I do believe in the "hot hand theory," but things can turn on a dime. For example, last night's game does not change how I feel about our chances tonight at all. I do feel better that it is not a must win game, but scoring 16 and allowing 1 run doesn't mean squat tonight..
  16. You said Swihart has proven he can catch anybody. That's just not true. Also, throwing is a teenie tiny fraction of what makes a great defensive catcher. (VTek had a noddle arm.)
  17. Yeah, I'm wrong all the time.
  18. I'm counting on Porcello to rise to the occasion and allow us to use Sale in game 1 vs Houston.
  19. No. This series is not over, for sure, but I believe. I believe!
  20. Agreed. No breakdowns this season for Holt. Where do we play him tonight? He's actually slightly better vs LHPs than RHPs. I can see sitting Devers or Kinsler and playing Holt at 2B and Nunez at 3B. We gotta start Pearce vs the lefty, so 1B is out. I doubt we sit JBJ, but putting JD in the short RF might be a long shot (DH Pearce and play Holt at 1B?).
  21. Actually, he hasn't. Career: Sale: Swihart has never even caught one pitch with Sale. The only "proof" here is that our managers don't trust Swihart with Sale. 2.42 with Leon (319 IP) 3.40 with Vaz (53) Price: Swihart has only caught 11 innings with Price- hardly enough to prove anything (5.73 ERA). 2.83 with Leon (194) 4.32 with Vaz (263) Porcello: Here, Swihart has some experience... 4.14 with Leon (483) 4.15 with Vaz (134) 4.59 with Swihart (118) It's still a half run, and he's not that much of a better hitter to make that up/ Eovaldi: No proof- no IP'd with Swihart. 0.55 with Vaz (not counting playoffs) 3.86 with Leon (35) 4.16 with everybody In all fairness, Swihart does okay with our pen and ERod, but he should not start any games in the playoffs. ERod 4.00 Leon (99) 4.08 Swihart (71) 4.24 Vaz (276)
  22. Wishing and believing are two different things. Totally losing faith in a 108 team that is tied 1-1 in a series is not believing in your team.
  23. Bottom 4 slots: 9 for 20 (3 BB) 9 Runs 7 RBI
  24. It's not about hitting, and especially about how well you did the last game. We start Leon with Sale and Price and Vaz with Porcello and Eovaldi. It's been close to 100% all year this way. We are not going to change this just because it is the playoffs. They can both go oh for 5 every game, and it's not changing. We may PH during a game, but our starting catchers are cast in stone.
  25. He's the man I said was going to be "the man". It will be hard to top Eovaldi.
