  1. Before the year started, I suggested Leon catch Sale & Price, based on past CERA and related numbers, but Vaz has caught Price more. CERA/OPS Against Price: 2.76/.632 w Leon (199 Innings) 4.25/.732 w Vaz (299 Innings) (The gap was wider in 2018: Leon 2.37/.587 & Vaz 4.68/.780. This year, Price has 0.00/.474 with Leon in just 5 innings & 3.75/.705 with Vaz in 36 innings.) Porcello 4.04/.723 w Leon 4.32/.751 w Porcello (2018: 4.25/.693 w Leon in 186 innings & 5.40/.863 w Swihart in 5 inn.- none w Vaz. 2019: 2.82/.606 w Leon in 38.1 innings, 5.93/.871 w Vaz in 13.2) Sale is a no brainer for Leon. ERod, it matter not.
  2. Certainly a couple options. Donaldson needs to show he's healthy and good enough. Abreu makes sense, assuming the cost is not absurd. The self-imposed budget limit is going to be the biggest factor, IMO.
  3. Chavis can play 1B, and Holt can in a pinch. I think it comes down to who we think will do better going forward.
  4. Rafael Freakin' Devers!
  5. Ryan Freakin' Weber!
  6. I doubt Porcello comes back, even if we lose JD to the option & free agency.
  7. I agree, but a choice might need to be made before he does. I'd be okay with keeping Pearce over Nunez, but I'd want Holt out of the 3.
  8. You won't hear it from me. Chavis stays. (He'd have to go on a very long slump for me to even start to think otherwise.) Pedey will not be DFA'd, so if he is healthy enough to be on the 25 man roster and does not want to retire, it will come down to keeping 2 out of these 3: Nunez, pearce or Holt (who apparently has 1 option left, that he can refuse). My choice would be to trade or DFA Nunez or Pearce. Since Chavis & Holt can play 1B, I'm inclined to say good bye to Pearce, unless he starts hitting real soon.
  9. Can anyone explain why a 3rd grade sprain is newsworthy years later? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/05/andrelton-simmons-angels-grade-3-ankle-sprain.html (Just kidding!)
  10. 11 RP'ers of note... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/05/mlb-free-agent-relievers-bullpen-help.html
  11. It looks like "by committee" right now. I was thinking Walden would be called in after Porcello with Workman and Barnes finishing the game, but I guess Cora had his reasons. Also, I thought it odd they pulled Porcello after just 80 pitches, but maybe Cora is looking to keep our starters fresh all year.
  12. A big game by Weber might allow him to stay on the 25 man roster for a longer time. (Thornburg & Brewer are pitching like they don't belong.)
  13. Kaleb never pooped, peed or chewed anything until he turned 18 1/2. He's been the perfect dog. He just recently can't hold his urine. The guy had amazing holding powers. I once got snowed in for almost 2 days away from home, and when I returned, he had not peed or pooped. When I took him out, he was so excited I was home, he didn't do his duty until I brought him back in and a few minutes later he went to the door to be let out!
  14. As bad as our pen was, and it could have been a lot worse, they let up 4 ERs in 7 IP.
  15. I'm pausing this crap and going to bed. I hope to wake up to some good news. G'night.
  16. This is sick. It's like the 2018 anti-universe.
  17. CC to the IL???? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/05/c-c-sabathia-likely-headed-to-10-day-il-due-to-knee-soreness.html
  18. Thanks. We got him to eat without a spoon a while ago, and he's drinking electrolytes and water. He even was able to walk a little after I carried him outside. He used to weight about 80 lbs. I think he's under 50 now. Maybe he'll bounce back again. I've lost a couple dogs in the past, and that hurt, but Kaleb has been with me through a lot. It will hurt like hell when he passes, but I know he's led a charmed life. Again, thanks.
  19. Just got caught up after watching last night's game and then this one. What a sour taste I have in my moth right now. UGLY!
  20. Thanks. My dog was abandoned in a vacant house for days before I adopted him. The vet said he thought he was going to die. When I got him, his ribs were plainly visible. He survived cancer (7 years ago). He's been a real good dog his whole life. He's a big dog- half shepherd (body size & shape) and half yellow lab (color). He is a couple months short of his 19th birthday. The Vets says he's a true miracle dog. He's been nearly blind and deaf for over 3-4 years. He has had severe arthritis for year but still looked forward to his daily walk until a couple weeks ago. We've had to help him up and out to the back yard and he started falling down more often. Yesterday, he couldn't even stand up. I had to spoon feed him tonight. His name is Kaleb. He's been with me since my days in a log cabin in the Maine woods to hustle and bustle of Mexico City to the lush homestead we have here in Sugar Land, TX. I think his time is up. The vet gave us some meds to ease his pain, but I'm struggling with making the tough call. He's been real bad before and bounced back, but he's never been this bad. Again, thanks for the kind words.
  21. I had Travis Shaw as my dark horse prospect many years ago. I gave up on him. Maybe giving up on DHern will turn him into a good player. (Knock on wood.)
  22. I believe JBJ had a minus UZR/150 early last year, too. I don't pay too much attention to short sample defensive metrics, but it is interesting he's got such a low number. The eye test does not agree.
