  1. Well said. Folks, this is what a rebuild ("cliff") looks like. You look at players with 1-2 years of team control and decide if they will likely be part of your long term plan. If the answer is no, you listen to offers. I happen to think Beni was going to bounce back, and maybe waiting for the deadline would have brought back more, assuming he was doing well, but that's a gamble Bloom did not take. I'm not all that hopeful any of the players we get back for Beni, besides Cordero- who has 1 more year of control than Beni had, will amount to much, but the more quantity you have your chances of striking gold, or even silver or bronze, goes up.
  2. Devers was pretty much FT. He started more games than Vaz and played in only 15 less games than Bogey. Your point is well taken, though. Here are the PA & IP leaders of the 2018 team: PA 661 Beni 649 JD 614 Betts 580 Bogey 535 JBJ 502 Nunez 490 Devers 459 Moreland 367 Holt 288 Leon 269 Vaz 207 Swihart 195 HRam 165 Pearce 143 Kinsler 73 Lin, 38 Travis, 27 Philips, 13 Pedey IP 191 Porcello 176 Price 158 Sale (will not be on opening day roster) 130 ERod 99 Johnson 85 Velazquez 74 Pomeranz 66 Kelly 62 Kimbrel 62 Barnes (last year of control) 60 Hembree 54 Eovaldi 54 Wright 41 Workman 34 Brasier 24 Thornburg 22 Poyner, 17 Cuevas, 15 Walden, 14 C Smith WOW!
  3. Yes, Spotrac has us with $11M to spend. Even if we had enough, I seriously doubt Bloom would spend it all on one guy. I think we sign Sawamuro & Pillar and head to opening day with about $5-6M to use at the deadline, if we choose to be buyers.
  4. That's what we're paying Renfroe. So, basically Renfroe, Cordero, Winckowski and 3 PTBNL for Beni.
  5. Spotrac has us at $11M to spend. Probably not enough for Odorizzi and staying under the tax line.
  6. If it's enough to get us Rosenthal or Paxton, it's probably worth it, too. I doubt any of the 5 players we get will jump off the page at us, but this all seems so strange, to me.
  7. Why him over Odorizzi, or is Odorizzi tomorrows call?
  8. How many times are 3 PTBNL involved in 1 trade? This is strange. I know the BTV site is not all that accurate, but the Mets get Lee (9.3) and lose Winckowski (0.3). Can we assume the PTBNL from the Mets will be a very good one?
  9. The Jays picked up our reject, Payamps. And, I thought we had a weak back end of the 40 man roster.
  10. He's on my interest list, but it depends on the money. I'd rather have Odorizzi or Rosenthal. I doubt we sign JBJ. Maybe we sign Sawamuro and Pillar and save some for deadline moves.
  11. Bloom is a genius! He got 5 players for 1!!! And, only had to pay $2.8M out of his $6.6 owed this year! BRILLIANT!
  12. I'm trusting Bloom knows more than we do.
  13. When's the last time the Sox got 5 players for one? We've probably given 5 for one. Who'd have thunk Beni was worth 5 of anybodies?
  14. Three-team deal is finished. Per source, the entire trade is: Mets get Lee, Royals get Benintendi and cash (from Boston), while Red Sox get Cordero, Winckowski, 2 PTBNL from Kansas City and 1 PTBNL from the Mets. -Mark Feinsand
  15. Is there a different call every night? I thought you hated Paxton and wanted iron man Teheran, instead.
  16. MLBTR 9:52pm: The deal has been formally announced. The Sox will pick up $2.8MM of the tab on Benintendi’s 2021 salary, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports on Twitter. 9:47pm: The Sox will receive three players to be named later in the deal, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe tweets. That includes one player from the Mets and a pair from the Royals.
  17. Spotrac says Codero has 2 options remaining.
  18. I think he's our CF'er, no platoon for Renfroe,at least for now.
  19. So, minus Beni and plus Sawamura, Codero & Winckowski, and that's now it for the winter?
  20. We had $8M before, so maybe now we have enough for JBJ, Rosenthal or Odorizzi
  21. You guys will love this Franchy Tuskodero!
  22. Renfroe's .717 v RHPs is not all that awful. Who knows: it might end up being better than Beni v RHPs in 2021. Maybe Cordero's small sample size defensive metrics are misleading. The K rate is hard to ignore. Let's see who else we get, and if we are giving any cash.
  23. The Valdez & Groome names threw me, but yes.
  24. If we save some cash on the budget, maybe the money will be used to sign Odorizzi. (We are $8M under the line plus $5M fofr Beni = $13M Odorizzi is expected to make per year.)
  25. I thought the Sox we getting 5 players to boot our s***** bottom 4 players from our 40 man roster (assuming all are 40 man players).
