  1. Bloom is a genius! He got 5 players for 1!!! And, only had to pay $2.8M out of his $6.6 owed this year! BRILLIANT!
  2. I'm trusting Bloom knows more than we do.
  3. When's the last time the Sox got 5 players for one? We've probably given 5 for one. Who'd have thunk Beni was worth 5 of anybodies?
  4. Three-team deal is finished. Per source, the entire trade is: Mets get Lee, Royals get Benintendi and cash (from Boston), while Red Sox get Cordero, Winckowski, 2 PTBNL from Kansas City and 1 PTBNL from the Mets. -Mark Feinsand
  5. Is there a different call every night? I thought you hated Paxton and wanted iron man Teheran, instead.
  6. MLBTR 9:52pm: The deal has been formally announced. The Sox will pick up $2.8MM of the tab on Benintendi’s 2021 salary, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports on Twitter. 9:47pm: The Sox will receive three players to be named later in the deal, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe tweets. That includes one player from the Mets and a pair from the Royals.
  7. Spotrac says Codero has 2 options remaining.
  8. I think he's our CF'er, no platoon for Renfroe,at least for now.
  9. So, minus Beni and plus Sawamura, Codero & Winckowski, and that's now it for the winter?
  10. We had $8M before, so maybe now we have enough for JBJ, Rosenthal or Odorizzi
  11. You guys will love this Franchy Tuskodero!
  12. Renfroe's .717 v RHPs is not all that awful. Who knows: it might end up being better than Beni v RHPs in 2021. Maybe Cordero's small sample size defensive metrics are misleading. The K rate is hard to ignore. Let's see who else we get, and if we are giving any cash.
  13. The Valdez & Groome names threw me, but yes.
  14. If we save some cash on the budget, maybe the money will be used to sign Odorizzi. (We are $8M under the line plus $5M fofr Beni = $13M Odorizzi is expected to make per year.)
  15. I thought the Sox we getting 5 players to boot our s***** bottom 4 players from our 40 man roster (assuming all are 40 man players).
  16. Kind of a weird line in 2017: 21 doubles 18 triples 17 home runs 390 ABs (15 SB/118 Ks)
  17. With a weak roster like ours, a 1 for 5 deal does make some sense, especially if Bloom is working his mo-jo magic on these under-the-radar players. Fingers crossed as I await the finalities. Bye-bye Beni.
  18. Maybe the Mets send cash to KC. It seems Lee has more value than anyone, according to BTV.
  19. Cordero has a negative UZR150 in CF. I hope we get more. BTV had Lee rated much higher than Cordero. One plus from the deal would be to free up money for a signing, but it sounds like money is part of the deal. If we are paying part of Beni's deal, I'm confused.
  20. Most of my suggested trades on BTV involved Beni. As much as I hate selling low, it made the most sense- him or Vaz.
  21. MLBTR... The Red Sox “appear on the cusp of” a deal with Sawamura, writes Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. Sankei Sports reports it will be a two-year, $2.4MM deal with additional incentives available, according to Speier.
  22. I guess the "comeback" point was more about improving over 2020, but I do think Devers could have an explosive season at some point in the next few seasons. He's 24, now, so this could be the year. Can we expect him to ever "blow away" his 2019 season? Maybe, not, but I'm betting he will. I'm hoping it might be 2021. 2019: .311 32 115 (90 xbh) and a .916 OPS. I'm thinking he's capable of .315 45 135 (1.000+ OPS)
  23. Tough question. It's hard to think of Bogey doing much better than he has recently, but could he have a Betts-like year? I'll go with Devers. He's at the age where players often bust out. Since Sale did squat, last year, the potential there is pretty great.
  24. That was before my time, but it seems like the games meant more when we were young. That 75 team really got me into baseball more than ever before. Although my heart was broken, that team (all the way up to 1978) will always hold a special place in my heart and mind. Tiant, Lee, Lynn, Burleson, Rice, Evans, Carbo and more. 2004 was incredible. 2018 was amazing. 2007 & 2013 were great, but there's something about those teams of the mid to late 70's that makes it more special than the others. First love, maybe?
  25. Too many B's Ben Bloom Betts Bogey Beni Bradley Jr. Bevers Berdugo Balbec Bazquez B-Rod ....
