  1. Isn't that assuming Marisnick steals no bases and not counting Hamilton's caught stealings?
  2. Agreed. Sale stays- as does Devers. If I had to project the next big name to be dealt away, I'd say Vaz.
  3. Marisnick was the guy I thought fit within our budget. I didn't expect him to play FT, and I'm pulling for EHern to get more time in CF than 2B, but the Marisnick ship has sailed. I'd be okay with not signing Pillar. Maybe trade for Adam Frasier.
  4. I never said he was a good hitter, but 178 points on OPS is a substantial differential... certainly enough to make up for a few extra SBs by Hamilton.
  5. Maybe just start with the players with just 1-2 years of team control, whci could include Bogey due to his opt out. I do not see our rebuild being a 3-5 year plan. I'm looking at 2022 as being fairly competitive and 2023 as trying to be a top contender.
  6. I know this feeling is not just about Beni, but to me, of all the players we have lost, Beni is one of the least of my worries.
  7. No love for Winckowski? The guy has a +0.3 value on BTV!
  8. Exactly! That was my point. All along, I've been thinking our bottom roster guys were not even at replacement level value or maybe just barely at it. The Jays must be worse!
  9. Marisnick did not cheat from 2019-2010 (.726 OPS). Hamilton from 2019-2020? .548. That's the same difference between a .700 OPS and an .878 OPS! Hamilton was at .629 his previous 5 seasons- never getting above .664. I'll take a much better bat over a few more SBs from a guy who never gets on base (.278 OBP since 2019).
  10. I've suggested dozens of trades involving Beni on the BTV site- several were 3 team deals that had one competitive team give prospects to the third team, while we give Beini to the playoff bound team and get some ML player from the other team- usually a CF'er, 2Bman or pitcher. It seemed weird that Beni went to the Royals, and the playoff bound team, the Mets traded and received only prospects. Also, am I in the minority for thinking Cordero was acquired to play CF? (His brief time there produced some pretty bad defensive metrics, but he seems to have the tools (speed) to be better there than having Renfroe in RF and Verdugo in CF. Did we get him to just replace Beni in a LF platoon with Renfroe? I'm thinking Renfroe's numbers vs RHPs (.717) may not be all that bad and could improve in Fenway and in his prime years.
  11. The word "contend" is a bit relative. I'm not sure anybody thought Beni was going to lead us to the wild card slot, but of course it is about more than just Beni. I do still think we may make a serious push for the wild card, so does that mean we are "competitive" during the rebuild?
  12. Agrred. I just mentioned his name, because we can now afford him, and CF is a position of need.
  13. All the best dominoes are falling fast!
  14. I don't think we rush Duran. I could be wrong, but what's the hurry? He's still learning the OF position. He'll need, at least, a few months to "get ready." His bat may not be ML ready, either. If we add a CF'er or 2Bman (EHern to CF), Duran may end up being a September call-up, if no OF'er get hurt.
  15. I don't see us signing Mitch. I do think our OF choice will be Pillar or Marisnick. I may be in the minority, and I'm not big Chavis fan, but I think he starts the year on the 26 man roster and is given a chance to prove he belongs on the 26 and 40 man roster at all. Find out as early as we can.
  16. Well said. Folks, this is what a rebuild ("cliff") looks like. You look at players with 1-2 years of team control and decide if they will likely be part of your long term plan. If the answer is no, you listen to offers. I happen to think Beni was going to bounce back, and maybe waiting for the deadline would have brought back more, assuming he was doing well, but that's a gamble Bloom did not take. I'm not all that hopeful any of the players we get back for Beni, besides Cordero- who has 1 more year of control than Beni had, will amount to much, but the more quantity you have your chances of striking gold, or even silver or bronze, goes up.
  17. Devers was pretty much FT. He started more games than Vaz and played in only 15 less games than Bogey. Your point is well taken, though. Here are the PA & IP leaders of the 2018 team: PA 661 Beni 649 JD 614 Betts 580 Bogey 535 JBJ 502 Nunez 490 Devers 459 Moreland 367 Holt 288 Leon 269 Vaz 207 Swihart 195 HRam 165 Pearce 143 Kinsler 73 Lin, 38 Travis, 27 Philips, 13 Pedey IP 191 Porcello 176 Price 158 Sale (will not be on opening day roster) 130 ERod 99 Johnson 85 Velazquez 74 Pomeranz 66 Kelly 62 Kimbrel 62 Barnes (last year of control) 60 Hembree 54 Eovaldi 54 Wright 41 Workman 34 Brasier 24 Thornburg 22 Poyner, 17 Cuevas, 15 Walden, 14 C Smith WOW!
  18. Yes, Spotrac has us with $11M to spend. Even if we had enough, I seriously doubt Bloom would spend it all on one guy. I think we sign Sawamuro & Pillar and head to opening day with about $5-6M to use at the deadline, if we choose to be buyers.
  19. That's what we're paying Renfroe. So, basically Renfroe, Cordero, Winckowski and 3 PTBNL for Beni.
  20. Spotrac has us at $11M to spend. Probably not enough for Odorizzi and staying under the tax line.
  21. If it's enough to get us Rosenthal or Paxton, it's probably worth it, too. I doubt any of the 5 players we get will jump off the page at us, but this all seems so strange, to me.
  22. Why him over Odorizzi, or is Odorizzi tomorrows call?
  23. How many times are 3 PTBNL involved in 1 trade? This is strange. I know the BTV site is not all that accurate, but the Mets get Lee (9.3) and lose Winckowski (0.3). Can we assume the PTBNL from the Mets will be a very good one?
  24. The Jays picked up our reject, Payamps. And, I thought we had a weak back end of the 40 man roster.
  25. He's on my interest list, but it depends on the money. I'd rather have Odorizzi or Rosenthal. I doubt we sign JBJ. Maybe we sign Sawamuro and Pillar and save some for deadline moves.
