  1. We have a lot of players under performing their career or recent norms. It's not a sure thing they return to norm, but there is hope. Other than a few pitchers, nobody is wildly out performing their career or recent norms. We also have some players waiting in the wings that may add to the mix: Santana Chavis Duran Arauz Munoz Downs Ockimey SaleHouck Brasier Bazardo Seabold and maybe others. Seabold
  2. What seems special about this team is that when one area struggles, another pulls up the slack and keeps us in the games. Our offense is in a 3 game funk. It could be the pitchers we face all had good nights. Our D hurt us last night. The HR ball, too.
  3. He agreed to extend it into May, because he's not quite ready.
  4. Some of our outs have been hard hit, so maybe we'll piece some hits together, soon.
  5. Perez now has an ERA below 5.00 (4.84). The rotation is really shaping up nicely.
  6. It's not like I'm happy we are struggling offensively.
  7. Are we supposed to go 80-0 vs the worst teams? We already showed we can get swept by the O's, and it means very little. That was 3 games. This is one, and it's not over.
  8. I think the trade was pre- 90's.
  9. YES!!!! Houck raised a lot of hopes after his nice career start, last season. Whitlock is on his way to topping that. Two years in a row is blowing my mind!
  10. Sox in the top OPS in MLB: 6. JD 1.095 19. Bogey .940 21. Devers .936 33. Verdugo .884 RBI 3. JD 21 T6. Devers 19
  11. I'm not sure we'll ever be done talking about the departure of Betts, but I'm thinking not much new can be said about it.
  12. they only made one offer. What do you mean by "always?"
  13. Yes, but they must have known, not making him a second decent offer was going to make them look bad, of he extended with the Dodgers. Maybe they took him at his word and figured they could make him an offer as a FA- like they ended up doing with Lester, but as we saw with that case, even a decent offer as a FA did not change the unpleasantness.
  14. I agree, but by not giving a second- more reasonable offer- it forced the drag out public unpleasantness.
  15. Agreed, so why not counter with that or even $320M/10?
  16. I agree. We should have made a second offer we would have paid. (Hopefully, that first offer was not close.)
  17. Cause, what's only $6M more, and so on...
  18. He sure seems to feel entitled.
  19. Agreed, and they did comeback with a sizably higher offer with Lester, much later. In defense of Sox management, Lester did say he was willing to take a "hometown discount." It's hard to know exactly what that means. many felt Pedey took way less than he could have gotten, and maybe they looked at the Pedey contract as a comp. That being said, I do think it was insultingly low.
  20. The initial $30M still counts and was viewed as a trade-off. Adding $6M tilted the balance to a know. How about another $6M? And then another? (I'm actually not even sure they wanted him at their initial offer they knew he'd refuse- same as Lester.)
