  1. We may be surprised by a bigger move than expected, but we may value some players much more highly than Bloom & Co. do. He may trade Groome, and we think, "Man, I'm surprised he traded a very promising pitching prospect," but maybe Bloom does not see a bright future for him (or some other rather highly ranked prospect).
  2. Do we know, if they met with Mayer?
  3. This shows why I trust cots.
  4. I'm reading Mayer on most mock drafts. One said he had the best hit and defensive rating in the draft. I admit, I know only what I read. I think... Mayer Leiter Lawlar Davis
  5. That's the way things go.
  6. That's what I think, and maybe a LH'd hitting 1Bman. How Sale is progressing and how they plan on using him could sway us to trade for a SP'er.
  7. A while ago, I was 50-50, but this year's team is looking more and more like a winner. I would not trade Downs or any other prospect Bloom & Co. think can be special. I count about 10 guys on our current 40 man roster I would not miss, if we traded them. We have 5-7 Rule 5 prospects that could squeeze our 40 man, next season- depending on how many free agents we sign. My guess is, Bloom will identify who he thinks won't make the 2022 40 man roster and offer any of them that are not a part of the 2021 drive to a ring. Who those players are is conjecture, but I'd guess Chavis, Potts, Wilson, Arauz and maybe some Rule 5 prospects we may think are worthy of protecting. Now, what can we get for bubble players?
  8. Danny Duffy? His high salary should weaken the return.
  9. If the starter is owed a lot of money, maybe the return doesn't have to be anyone real promising. But, we are walking a tight rope n the lux tax line.
  10. I wonder, too. According to fangraphs, before tonight, we had 5 pitchers with a -0.2 WAR: Andriese, Sawamura, Workman, Brice and Weber As a team, we are ranked 5th in pen WAR at 3.3- just 0.1 behind MIA & TB.
  11. I'm not even close to supporting us being sellers, but we could really set ourselves up nicely for 2022 and beyond with a few rental trade-aways. Barnes Ottavino ERod
  12. Dalbec 5 PAs with no K. Two hits to boot. Kike holding up the lead off slot. Verdugo on base 4 times. JD passed Devers and Bogey for the team OPS lead. (on base 4 times) Renfroe & Vaz with 2 hits, too. Devers a dinger and 2 BBs. The pen, other than Andriese, looked sharp.
  13. Maybe the best closer season since Koji. Kimbrel fans may argue with this.
  14. I'm not all that high on Downs, but I would not do this deal. Not even close.
  15. Wilson is not as good as some players we need to Rule 5 protect.
  16. Did Andriese's ERA go down, tonight? It was only 2 ERs in 1 IP.
  17. Crooked Number Night!
  18. One could arrange it this way: .959 first 92 PAs .558 middle 108 PAs .771 in last 138 PAs Now, it's almost 2:1 PAs with better numbers vs the 0ne bad stretch.
  19. They may sell if they go .500, too.
  20. Andriese had just one bad game in April, in terms of runs allowed. He did allow an IR to score in his first game, then his second game was bad, but he then went 7 straight games dong very well. 8.2 IP 5 H 0 ER 2 BB 7 K In May, he pitched 9 games. He allowed a run or more to score or an IR'er to score all but one game. 12 IP 24 H 12 ER 5 BB 12 K In June, he pitched 5 games- allowing a run or more in 4 of 5. (more of a long relief role) 9.1 IP 12H 7 ER 2 BB 12 K The only game he inherited runners (3) he allowed all to score. July- 2 games 2.1 IP 6 H 2 ER 0 BB 2 K All season, he's only inherited 6 runners-all have scored. Couple that with his 5.70 ERA, and you can see why many of us are fed up.
  21. The pre-Henry trade of Jamie Moyer for Darren Bragg hurt. It seems clear we have done well to very well with our deadline deals since Henry came aboard.
  22. Too bad. I'm not happy with our announcers, now.
  23. That extra inning game was more or less by force. When was the other times he pitched in the 8th or 9th in a close game? (I'm not doubting he has, but I don't recall his other games.)
  24. I agree, but once the deadline passes, you are stuck with what you have in your system.
