  1. They did for Kimbrel- knowing he'd miss and maybe catch a corner.

  4. So, you can read a lot into these divisional records. Or not.
  5. I've never been big on this type of stuff. For instance, what would it matter how much better or worse we are vs the AL Central than SEA?
  6. His numbers look pretty good- both O & D. I don't know him all that well, but he looks like a nice option. I'm thinking we need someone who can play SS more than 3B.
  7. Here's how our pitching might line up: @SEA ERod (+1 day rest) @SEA Eovaldi (+1) @SEA Houck off BAL Pivetta BAL ERod BAL Eovaldi off NYM Sale (back from Covid) NYM Pivetta off NYY ERod (+1) NYY Eovaldi (+1) NYY Houck (much extra rest- used in pen) off @BAL Sale @BAL Pivetta (+2)ERod @BAL ERod (+1) @WSH Eovaldi (+1) @WSH Houck (Much extra rest) @WSH Sale, if needed/ Seabold, if not
  8. They are a playoff team, but as of now, don't look like they can win a playoff series. It's two different things. Can NYY, SEA or OAK win any series vs good teams, of late? TOR is the only team looking like winners, but let's see how they look after their next 9 games (6 vs TBR).
  9. I'm glad they face them 6 of the next 9 games and not at the end of the season, like the Yanks do, when the Rays may be resting starters to set themselves up for the playoffs. Last 20 days of the season: (Red=highly competitive team) BOS 3 @SEA, 3 BAL, 2 NYM, 3 NYY, 3@BAL, 3@WSH TOR 3 TBR, 3 MIN, 3@TBR, 4@MIN, 3 NYY, 3 BAL NYY 1 MN, 3@BAL, 3 CLE, 3 TEX, 3@BOS, 3@TOR, 3 TBR SEA 3 BOS, 3@KCR, 4@OAK, 3@LAA, 3 OAK, 3 LAA OAK @KCR, 3@LAA, 4 SEA, 3 HOU, 3@SEA, 3@HOU
  10. What does "looking like you give a s***" look like. Sadly, people only care about themselves way too often. Hard to blame Cora for that.
  11. Last 20 days of the season: (Red=highly competitive team) BOS 3 @SEA, 3 BAL, 2 NYM, 3 NYY, 3@BAL, 3@WSH TOR 3 TBR, 3 MIN, 3@TBR, 4@MIN, 3 NYY, 3 BAL NYY 1 MN, 3@BAL, 3 CLE, 3 TEX, 3@BOS, 3@TOR, 3 TBR SEA 3 BOS, 3@KCR, 4@OAK, 3@LAA, 3 OAK, 3 LAA OAK @KCR, 3@LAA, 4 SEA, 3 HOU, 3@SEA, 3@HOU Once we get past the SEA series, we'll be the only team with just one really tough series left. (One might say the 2 game Mets series is as tough as playing OAK or SEA, but I'm not so sure.)
  12. SEA is no push-over, but we have to beat teams like this to think we are good enough to earn a WC berth. Not that we can't still make it by losing the series, but taking 2 of 3 would give us the inside track.
  13. I've watched the Astros play, a lot- being from the area. I certainly think Correa is a better defender than Bogey, but I'm not sure about him earning the GG and continuing excellent defense. Don't get me wrong, I'd love him on the Sox and Bogey at 3B or 2B, but the D might not be as great as expected. This is a pretty good D: 1B: Devers (Dalbec) 2B: Arroyo (Kike) 3B: Bogey (Devers/Dalbec) SS: Correa (Bogey) LF: Verdugo (Duran) CF: Kike (Verdugo) RF: Renfroe (Verdugo) (Dalbec at DH) Damn good O, too! Seager should play 3B.
  14. Not if we never swing! I'm serious. No way he can throw 3 strikes before 4 balls.
  15. Don't swing at this guy's wild pitches. We can walk in the tying run by taking every pitch.
  16. The Jays are exploding. 22 runs, today! I'm not sure this is sustainable. Maybe too much all at once. I think they will have a rough patch like we did, and now the Yanks are having. Maybe it's just hope.
  17. It's like every defensive mistake we make burns us.
  18. My guess is Correa goes to the Yanks, and for those who believe clutch is a skill, he's the man you'd want. As for available SSs, this winter, has there ever been such a flood of top players at one key position like SS all reaching free agency at the same time? Here's a look at the top FA (or trade available?) SSs by defense: UZR/150 2018-2021 (DRS): 13.2 Simmons (+34) Getting old 5.4 Semien (+13) 5.2 KFarmer (+6) 4.0 TStory (+39) 3.8 Iglesias (-21) Getting old 3.5 J Baez (+46) 1.1 Bogey (-27) 1.0 EAndrus (-17) 0.8 Gregorius (-16) 0.2 Swanson (+12) -0.1 BCrawford (-11) -0.7 Correa (+41) -0.8 Segura (-6) -1.1 TTurner (+8) -1.3 WAdames (+3) -4.0 Anderson (+11) -7.0 Seager (-3) Better at 3B UZR/150 2020-2021 5.2 Farmer (+6) 4.7 Semien (-5) 4.6 Story (+11) 2.1 Correa (+21) 1.3 Swanson (+5) 1.0 Bogey (-10) 0.6 Adames (+3) 0.4 Simmons (+9 Not what he used to be) 0.2 BCrawford (+3) 0.2 J Baez (+11) -1.9 Anderson (+5) -7.4 Iggy (-26 Not what he used to be) -14.7 Seager (-1)

  21. The Jays were lucky to win game 1, and the Yanks won on an error by Baez. We had some luck, too, so there's that. Big game, tomorrow.
  22. Well, the A's lost, and we won but lost a half to the Jays. The Jays are tied with the Yanks for the second slot. 89-53 TBR 82-59 HOU 81-61 CWS 81-63 BOS WC1 +1 79-63 NYY WC2 tied 79-63 TOR WC2 tied 77-65 OAK -2 WC2 77-65 SEA -2 WC2
  23. It is nice to see Bobby Dee's D getting better. Taylor with the big save. Kike da man! Shaw keeps surprising. Don't get me started on left side IF D.
