  1. The position players are set, if we want them to be, but 3 of our 5 rotation pitchers are FAs. Our closer and top set up guy through June are FAs or named Barnes. Our 2Bman missed 2/3 of the season, which seems to be common. We need a solid utility guy, and we have 4 everyday players that can or will be FAs after 2022 (C, SS, CF, DH) I wouldn't say we are all set and just need some depth and pen additions to improve on 2021.
  2. I'm not wrong. You probably thought Jeter was a a good defender, too. Bogey is the worst at DRS, and has been below average on UZR/150 over larger sample sizes, which is how they recommend that stat be used. I have never shied away from saying a few metrics show he's average, but you choose to ignore all the ones that show he is below average to way below. It's opinion, but I feel very strongly about my position..
  3. If I had assumed he is staying, we'd have heard the opposite response.
  4. Continuing what we did last year involves filling key roles via pick-ups. Yes, we can fill some from within, but we need more than just depth and pen help.
  5. Leaving out the key word "defensive" is pretty important and a gross misrepresentation of some of our views.
  6. I assume everyone who will be a FA or has an obvious opt out as gone. If they come back, I count that as signing a FA.
  7. I know. I should just let go. I doubt I even show up to the game thread, today.
  8. We have to break the pattern. Last night, we out hit them 9-6 and they even committed an error. Walks and key hits by them, and the lack of walks and key hits by us, hard hit outs by us and soft hits by them (not all of them) has been something we seem to fall into for long stretches. We need to break the pattern- starting tonight.
  9. The absurdity is overwhelming and toxic.
  10. Did they say he's an unprofessional hitter or anything even close? No doubt, he's unorthodox, and I would not argue against calling him a big undisciplined, but the kid walks enough to show he's not a hack. He hits so much, it's not a fluke, and I'm not sure trying to mess with his approach is such a good idea. To me, it helps a team having a variety of hitting approaches in the line-up.
  11. Musta been luck. He needs to work with a pro to learn hos to really hit. How soon some forget the kid went 4 for 5 with 2 HRs in game 162 to get us here. If this isn't an example of the absurdity of knee jerk reactionism, I don't know what is. Next, we'll be hearing Cora should be fired.
  12. I "know it?" LMAO! Most of this thread is a joke.
  13. This is why it's best to avoid game threads.
  14. I'm so sick of these line-outs right at people.
  15. We certainly have higher need areas than back up DH. One idea is to trade JD with cash and sign Schwarber, but we could just wait until next winter to sign another hitter.
  16. ERod got the start because he was the best bet to do well and was not on short rest. He did not do all that well, but with a little help, he might have gotten out of that inning. Sure, it could have been worse, too. I think we might be reading too much into Cora's choices and intentions. If we advance, ERod will likely start again- maybe even game 5.
  17. Too bad they didn't start Pivetta over ERod, right?
  18. Well, he was unlucky Kike bobbled the ball and a dribbler went for an RBI hit.
  19. But of course, the ole GIDP followed by a line out. Falling back into that pattern.
  20. See, they can make mistakes, too. We need to make them pay for them.
  21. The little bobble by Kike and a dribbler. We do that and still don't score. They do it and get two.
  22. I think we know your opinion by now.
  23. Strike back, quickly, here.
  24. He may reach the third time through by the 3rd inning.
