  1. Make every hit count!
  2. Indeed. Getting past NYY, TBR, HOU & LAD would be sweet.
  3. We lose some salary, this winter without many major holes to fill due to players moving on. (Pedey, Richards, Ottavino, Perez & maybe ERod) Next winter, we lose even more, but some will be hard to replace: $22M JD $20M Bogey $17M Eovaldi $15M Price $7M Vaz We can afford Devers, a big contract (pitcher) and a bunch of mid rangers, but we have very little wiggle room for mistakes, at least until we can get some more farm contributions (Casas, Seabold, Bello, Duran, Wickowksi and more.)
  4. The team went 19-12 in ERod's starts, this year, despite a 1-5 May. He has a 2.11 ERA over his last 5 games and a .638 OPS Against over that time. I wouldn't say I have complete confidence he well pitch well, tonight, but the guy is a veteran and a winner. In his past 11 starts, he's had 9 good and 2 bad outings. Two of his good ones were vs the Rays and one of the bad ones was, too. Have faith. He a good pitcher.
  5. Me2, and who wants the Astros to make the ALCS for the 5th straight year? (Never done B4)
  6. TBR scored 57 runs at Fenway. We scored 34 at Tampa, if that means much. Getting to count runs in games at Fenway as away games helps a little.
  7. I was thinking we could go with 11 pitchers but expected 12. I don't see the need for 13. I'd have gone with 3 catchers. That being said, the rosters looks fine, too me.
  8. You weren't surprised? You projected 100 wins for the Yanks and about 70 for the Sox.
  9. Some A_Rod quotes from the game: "I love the Anthony Rizzo pickup because he's a baseball player." Joey Gallo is a “landing strip” Said the Yankees and Red Sox should not to bother being smart just “just keep to your superpowers, which is tremendous resources.” Said he loves Alex Cora "More than Tic-Tacs." He also predicted Cole would win the Cy Young, next year because "the sophomore year is easier."
  10. I get that. I'm just pointing out how someone might have thought Sale was left off by just reading that one post.
  11. But, he was left out of the list of added players.
  12. We probably could get by with 11 pitchers very easily, with all these days off, but I doubt we do that. I like having 3 catchers, so we can PH for them twice, if needed.
  13. Personally, I think we go large NOT long- like Scherzer or someone, next year. We lose Price's $15M, next year plus JD and Boegy's deals. That's plenty of budget space to afford Devers and a big FA signing, but more holes that need to be filled, too. It won't be easy, but if Bloom keeps finding Renfroes and Whitlocks, we can afford some big contracts every now and then.
  14. Especially vs us.
  15. Me, too, despite me feeling I'd have left him in... and probably been wrong.
  16. We don't know what the lux tax is going to look like, but if nothing changes, I have us with about $40M to spend and stay under level 1. That's close to what we spent, last winter, but this year, we have only 3-5 slots to fill not 7-9. I'm not saying we go long and large, this winter, but I do think we do either this winter or next. I think we can afford Devers and one big contract. If we go up to level 2, we'll have plenty to spend on Devers and a $30M guys, arbs and 2-3 mid range contracts, too.
  17. I’m not so sure, this winter. I do think he continues to look for shorter term deals like Renfroe and Kike, but I think he goes large and long on one guy, this winter or next. Last winter, we had 7-9 holes in our 40 man roster with many of those on the 26. This year, it is maybe 5-6 with 3-4 on the 26 man roster. Even with the same amount of winter spending, the quality should go up as the quantity goes down. I don’t see a major Rule 5 roster crunch, this winter, but I also don’t see much more room than 4-5 additions to the 40.
  18. As much as people want to lament the loss of SP’ers that went 8 or 9 innings often and downplay the increased role of analytics, did everyone notice the first two batters up for the 3rd time got on base?
  19. We didn’t know the pen would do great until they did it. I’m happy with Cora’s decisions, even the ones I disagree with.
  20. I want ERod and feel confident he will do well and even more confident he’ll do better than anyone else. What more can I say? I could repeat my “he’s a winner” refrain and cite his 70+ winning % over the last 4 years.
  21. Did you miss the second best part or just trolling again?
