  1. I'm not looking for agreement of support. I don't "need" to hear what others think, but I'm guessing some think he had one of the best defensive seasons any Sox CF'er has had in our viewing period. Maybe not the very best but close- perhaps. It's my opinion, based on a small sample size. As he ages and gets worse, my opinion might change. I also said Cora is the best Sox manager I have seen, but that, too was based on a very limited sample size. Again, I won't argue with anyone liking Lynn, JBJ or Tito better than Kike (on D only) or Cora.
  2. I heard Noon.
  3. I was responding to you claiming I said he was the best CF'er ever. I never brought up analytics, so I'm not sure what "you guys" means. I stated my opinion on Kike's defense. It's just an opinion. (That is actually not supported by analytics.) I respect anyone who thinks Lynn or JBJ were better or others were as good. This board is for opinions. Not wanting Kike as our CF'er for the next 4-5 years is a valid opinion, too.
  4. The mariners just added 3 guys to their 36 out of 40 man roster. Others to follow, soon.
  5. We often have most positional slots filled more than most teams, and our pitching prospects have not been good enough to be promoted by even age 22. We don't draft first, and we don't usually have great young prospects. When we do, like Bogey & Raffy, they get fast-tracked.
  6. I said the best defensive CF we ever had. Of course, other had longer careers, but I was talking about the best I have seen. Lynn and JBJ were close, as were a couple others, but to me, Kike looked the best ON D!
  7. So, any 20 year old can or should be compared to Raffy and Bogey?
  8. So, can Zack Kelly still be picked in Rule 5?
  9. Most likely. I'm not sure why Bogey and Raffy were even being mentioned, here.
  10. This shows 34th out of 104 with his .873 OPS.
  11. Thanks to Rod Carew's hits, he had a nice BA.
  12. BTV still lists Dalbec as a 3Bman.
  13. Missing a whole season would likely affect some players more thaan others, but it's hard to know if that was a major reason for his early and mid season struggles. I think it has to be a possibility, right?
  14. No, I meant it is rare to add your own Rule 5 eligible player to your 40 man roster, then DFA him shortly afterwards.
  15. I think he was a little better before 2021, and he plays so many positions, it might be hard using such small sample sizes to judge his level of defense at any one position. I checked out his fangraphs page: UZR/150 2B: -12.4 career (never really a plus) SS: -4.2 career (was plus 2020 & 2021) most innings of any position 3B: -7.0 career (was plus every year until 2021- not many innings) CF: -8.3 career (big minus last 4 years) 2nd most innings played LF: +11.0 career (plus every year) 3rd most innings, career RF: +9.3 career (not many innings here) DRS -4 SS (1992 innings) -2 CF (1285 innings) +13 LF (1144 innings) +2 2B (773 innings) -3 3B (189) +1 RF (86) I'd pass on Taylor. Maybe spend the money on extending Kike.
  16. That's how I see it, and if reports are true, we are looking at Baez or Taylor, it's hard to imagine us missing out on the two and not signing someone else to play 2B/SS (Iggy?) I think Arauz may be DFA'd, soon.
  17. If reports of Baez or Taylor are true, we must really not trust Arroyo. I admit I don't know much about Taylor's defense, but if he's good, I'd think about him as a lesser costing middle infielder than Baez. I don't like losing a draft pick on Taylor, unless he's way cheaper than Baez. All of this aside, if we are spending so much on 2B and possibly a SS solution beyond 2022, then we better have enough budget space left for pitching- or some trades line up. We need 3 pitchers before we need a 2Bman, IMO.
  18. Trade him while his stock is high! LOL
  19. Rule 5 Players to be protected will be announce by tomorrow. Here is a breakdown of Sox eligible players: Certains: Bello Downs Near Certains: Winckowski Santos Borderlines: Feltman Crawford Cottam Jimenez Ward Long Shots: Fitzgerald German Kelly Rafaela Ort T Reed Granberg
  20. Yes, the "P" is essential.
  21. I think Wong has trade value, but who is looking to add borderline roster players, right now? Nobody!
  22. I'm often wrong on who I think the first to be DFA'd will be, but I'm pretty certain it will be one or two from thse 3: Plawecki Potts Rosario I'd put Arauz next, but including him in a pool of 4 makes sense, too. I could be wrong, but isn't it pretty rare to protect a Rule 5 kid, then DFA him for a FA signing or Waiver/Rule 5 draftee?
  23. True. I'm really not sure how highly Bloom or other GMs value Feltman.
  24. They should just rename the award: MWGMOC "Manager Who Gets the Most Out of Crap"
  25. Yes, but is it more riskier giving Correa $320M/10 or Baez $110M/5?
