  1. Yanks hit a couple solo blasts in the 9th but lost, AGAIN!
  2. Post on the Yankee thread. He always responds, there.
  3. Stop calling smart posters names!
  4. Never have I come close to saying ERod sucks. I’m the guy who keeps posting how the team wins so much when he pitches- all the way back to 2018. His COVID issues were real and can have long term effects. He’s a risk at any price. I would not give him $19M x 5, but one year is a close call, to me. As of right now, I’d do it, but would not be upset if Bloom passes on the QO. ERod does not suck!
  5. It might depend how he finishes, since I thinks it’s a close call. 1 year offer: make it. Get the comp pick, if he says no. Pay high for one year, if he says yes.
  6. Makes sense, unless we sign Schwarber to play 1B.
  7. That’s turning an oh for four night into something special!
  8. Hurt or not, injury prone or not, Arroyo was a nice find. We got him off waivers at min cost. Sure, Renfroe, Kike and Whitlock were better finds, but that doesn’t mean Arroyo was not a good find.
  9. We sure sat first rounder Chavis enough. Again, I’m not calling Arroyo Lou.
  10. Yorke hit a granny last night.
  11. I don’t either, but we really are not losing in this area to other teams. There was a time we were among the top teams in starter IP, but then poof. Then, the pen imploded.
  12. I do, too. His D needs serious improvement, but I think his bat will be more than fine.
  13. Damn good bargain, especially since we had great needs at the 2 positions he plays, well. He way more than earned $7M. Had he been able to play CF all year, his WAR would be higher. (I think he still leads the team in bWAR!)
  14. I've never been one to think GMs significantly change how they value a player over a 1 month sample size. The value may change a little, but not by as much as we may think. Even 2-3 month samples may not move the needle much, unless it's extremely good or bad. As for being blocked: 1B is our weakest position. DH is open after 2022. Our 3Bman is being discussed for a positional change. There is more room for Dalbec than Duran in 2022: LF: Verdugo (Cordero), JD in NL Parks CF: Kike RF: Renfroe
  15. I doubt we get a good young arm for Dalbec, unless we add to the package. I doubt many fans are attached to Dalbec, so much so, they'd be upset, if we traded him for a good young arm.
  16. ...and he signed him again, this winter- as a #5,
  17. Valdez and Davis have options remaining, next year, so we should view them as AAA depth that will surely be used, often. Robles is a FA with 0 options..
  18. Yes, but when your budget is restricted to about $34M and you have about 10-15 slots to fill on the 40 man roster, you have to get somebody.
  19. As for now, I see Whitlock as a starter in 2022 more than Houck. I think Houck could be a fine closer or top set-up man, but he could also do very well as a starter, especially if he diversifies his pitches. Bringing ERod back would be fine with me, but he will likely not improve our rotation over 2021, unless he pitches like 2018-2019 and goes deeper into his starts. I hate the idea of signing a 5th starter. I always hate that. I'd like to see us acquire a solid 1/2 slot pitcher, but that is not easy. We can pay large and long for Gausman or Syndergaard, but they do not seem like the type you wait years to go big on. I think the better idea is to try and get a shorter term deal with an aging stud like Scherzer or even Verlander/Greinke/Kershaw (not all that old). We also need to fill a big slot or two in the pen, even with Houck taking Whitlock's place. I like R Iglesias, but he's going to cost a lot. We may end up trading for pen help.
  20. Cora did call Kike the best defensive 2B in MLB, so maybe he doesn't love him in CF as much as I do. Your points here could very well come true.
  21. Damn! That's a good one!
  22. How much of this was injury-related? Minor League seasons are much shorter. Nobody is saying he's Lou. He's 26 and rode the bench for some of his career.
  23. We are getting in. It matters where.
  24. You are assuming we have home field?
