  1. That would be very surprising, but with Bogey's no-trade clause, they'd need him to okay a trade, either way, and maybe this posturing made that an easier aspect of the idea.
  2. I'm not so sure. saying someone has a 12 K/9 rate is easier for me to fathom than saying he has a 1.25 K/IP rate. I do think K% will be the stat people look to. That's more about K's per PAs than innings.
  3. Send me a link to your tater app.
  4. It seems like what you think is the most he should get, 4 years, ends up being one more from someone- sometimes as a team option year with a buyout that sweetens the 4 year part of the deal.
  5. Could we see a day where staffs have ten 3-5 inning guys and three one inning guys?
  6. If Golden Showers is the thing, yes.
  7. The Boone & Cashman show has really helped the Sox for several years, now. Please don't fire them!
  8. We passed the Yanks and Rays. Let's keep this going!
  9. I think Kike, Arroyo & Fitzy are all we will see for this season. Plus we have a SS playing 2B.
  10. OPS/ERA of our top prospects, before today. 1, Casas .943 2. Mayer .941 3. Yorke .734 4. Duran 1.000 5. Bello 0.00 6. Groome 0.00 9. Walter 0.00 10. Jordan .683 11. Gonzalez 0.00 12. Winckowski 2.70 13. Downs .707 14. Seabold 2.08 15. Murphy 3.00
  11. If Arroyo, Fitzy and Downs & Co are not doing well by the deadline, we might think of trading Bogey for a CF/RF'er and put Kike at 2B and Story at SS.
  12. Many said, "Orlando who?" But, yes, we did not trade him for prospects or a good player with more than 2 months of team control.
  13. This kid can field. If his bat improves, we might see something special, someday.
  14. Probably, yes, but we did trade Nomar in the heat of a ring run.
  15. Yes, too early to know, for sure, but the numbers don't seem to show anything all that exciting, except the K-rate. 2018-2022 26.3 K% (best) .228 BA against (best) 10.2 BB% (second worst) 16.1 K-BB% (Tied second best) 1,30 WHIP (second best) 101 ERA- (second worst) 3.96 xFIP (second best) 3.48 SIERA (Best)
  16. What is an elite return? Some teams pay a lot for 2 month rentals they think can put them over the top. We got Pivetta and Seabold for 2 months of Workman & Hembree. We got ERod for 2 moths of Andrew Miller. There are worse examples, for sure, but we should get something pretty nice. If we end up trading Bogey, do we go all out and trade Big Nate and JD, too?
  17. It need not be to a team looking to keep him, large and long. It just needs to be a team he agrees to waive his no trade contract to go to.
  18. That rubbed me the wrong way, too. I have been thinking they are setting Bogey up to agree to waive his no trade clause at the deadline.
  19. We have a few pitchers with shocking K:BB ratios, so far!
  20. I think the modern style is to look at BB% and K% not BB/9 or K/9, and it makes a ton of sense. If pitcher A K's 2 in an inning where he lets up 1 H and 1 BB and gets a no K out, he K's 2 every 5 batters, and walks one every 5 batters. Play B might get 2 K's, but allow 2 hits and 1 BB and a non K out. He K's 2 every 6 batters. They both have 2K/IP and 1 BB/IP, but pitcher A has a 40% K rate, while B has a 33% K rate. (Player B has a 16.5% BB rate, while A has a 20% BB rate.) Then, there is K%- BB%!
  21. If the criteria was something like what I suggested, maybe people would pay more attention to that number and percentage.
  22. He'll probably get over $95M/4, more likely $110M/5. I'd love to bring him back, but it's hard to know how good and how healthy he'll be as he ages. His health has been much better, for us, but he's still missed some time.
  23. Oh, I understand that, but the tendency is to stick with something forever, even when obvious adjustments make sense.
  24. I think Bloom values defense more than most fans do, and I also think many Sox fans overvalue Bogey's "steady D." I really think that is why Story got this offer, and Bogey got that offer. I honestly think Bloom will not raise his offer to meet, let alone exceed, Story's deal.
